hello and welcome,this vintage american recipe is a,throwback from another time,named after the waldorf astoria hotel in,new york,where it's said to have been invented,the waldorf salad,is so easy to put together and great for,large crowds,start by dicing two longish stalks of,celery,and two large apples a tart variety like,granny smith's works well,if you have a preference for a sweeter,salad then i suggest you swap one of the,granny smiths for a sweeter apple,so try and dice the fruits to a similar,size and that's to make sure that,there's an even distribution of flavors,and once the celery and apples are diced,cut the grapes into halves,and then juice half a lemon and we'll,need to extract about two teaspoons for,this recipe,do,then pop the diced apples into a large,bowl and add to that,one tablespoon of sugar and two,teaspoons of lemon,and then just mix to coat the apples,next heat a small pan and add in half a,cup of roughly chopped walnuts,and be sure to turn the nuts over with a,spatula,to make sure that they're evenly heated,and since we're only lightly toasting,them it takes no longer than,a couple of minutes before they're ready,so then throw the toasted walnuts into,the apple mix,and into that same bowl then add in the,celery and the red grapes,give everything a good mix,and now onto the wet ingredients in a,mixing jug,pour in a quarter cup of mayonnaise and,a quarter cup of greek yogurt,whisk together until you have a smooth,blend,then sprinkle quarter of a teaspoon of,salt over the mixed fruits,and pour in the yogurt and mayonnaise,mix,fold together until all of the,ingredients are combined,your waldorf salad is now almost ready,the last step is to chill for around an,hour before serving,you can add other ingredients as well,for example dried cranberries raisins,pecan nuts sunflower seeds etc,it's entirely up to you,enjoy and thank you for watching,you

Barbecues and picnics wouldn't be complete  without a big bowl of creamy potato salad,This recipe is easy to make and I'll show you my  ,simple techniques to maximize the  flavor of this popular side dish,I prefer to use russet potatoes, it's a  mealy type of vegetable that's high in starch,When it's cooked it's going to  have a light and flaky texture,When we mix it in with the other  ingredients it's going to break  ,down on the surface a little bit  creating a creamy consistency,You could also use Yukon gold or red  ,potatoes but it's going to be a  little bit more dense and hearty,I have two pounds of spuds that  have already been washed and dried  ,and the first step is to peel them,I like to use a Y-peeler  because it makes it really easy  ,to run the peeler down the length of the potato,Remove as much of the thick outer skin as possible,Cut into 3/4-inch thick pieces, turn them on  their cut-side down, cut into 3/4-inch strips,Turn and stack, cut into 3/4-inch pieces,This size is going to ensure  that when the potatoes  ,break down when you're mixing, you're still  going to have some nice chunks to bite into,These pieces are going to start to turn  color really quickly because there's an  ,enzyme in the flesh called polyphenol oxidase,When it reacts with the oxygen in  the air it turns the pigment brown,  ,so to reduce that exposure  we're going to transfer to a pot,and cover it right away with some water,Immediately place the potatoes in a large  saucepan, add enough water to cover by one inch,The potatoes should be started in cold water  then gradually increased in temperature  ,this prevents the outside from cooking too quickly,requiring more time for  the centers to cook through,When this comes to a boil  I'm going to add some salt,  ,this is going to season the potatoes throughout,You want to make sure that  the potatoes are fork-tender  ,and not too soft otherwise they're  just going to completely fall apart,Bring the water to a boil over  high heat, once it starts to bubble  ,add 1 tablespoon of salt and stir to dissolve,Reduce the heat to a simmer over  medium heat adjusting as needed,Stir occasionally and cook until the potatoes  are fork-tender but not falling apart,  ,about 8 to 10 minutes,Drain the potatoes and transfer  them back to the warm pot,Warm spuds are going to be  better at absorbing flavor,I'm going to add some white  distilled vinegar which is  ,going to provide some pungency and  acidity to the creamy potato salad,I'm going to let it absorb and marinate  so that each piece is flavorful throughout,If you want a more mild option you  could also use apple cider vinegar,Add two tablespoons of vinegar over the potatoes,  ,use a rubber spatula to gently toss to  combine, and marinate for 20 minutes,Large hard-boiled eggs are used in the recipe to  add richness to the dressing and extra texture,For convenience, you can use store-bought  ,or I'll show you how easy it  is to make them on the stovetop,Fill a medium saucepan with enough water  to cover the eggs by one inch once added,Bring the water to a low  boil over medium-high heat  ,until it reaches 200 degrees carefully  place the eggs in the hot water,Boil for 30 seconds then place the lid on the pot  ,and reduce the heat to low, cook  on a low simmer for 12 minutes,The eggs are done and now I'm  going to transfer them into  ,an ice-water bath filled with two  cups of ice and two cups of water,This is going to halt the  cooking process let these  ,chill for 15 minutes so that  they're completely cooled down,and in the meanwhile, we  can prepare the other mixins,Celery is going to add a nice  fresh crunch to the salad,  ,the first thing I do is trim off the ends  and then cut it into about 3-inch long pieces,Work one piece at a time, cut into 1/8-inch thick  strips then 1/8-inch dice, we need 1/2 a cup,For pungency and a pop of color,  I'm going to dice some red onion,Cut off the root end making sure that  it's still intact, trim off the other side,Place the onion cut-side down  then cut it in half lengthwise,  ,peel off the papery skin,  carefully cut 1/8-inch thick slices,and cut down to create 1/8-inch thick slices on  the other side, turn and cut into 1/8-inch dice,We want these pieces to be pretty small  because you don't want big bites in the salad,I like to chop it one more time to make sure that  the pieces are nice and small and even-sized,  ,we need two tablespoons,For some herbaceous notes,  I'm gonna chop some parsley,I like to take a bunch that has already been  cleaned and dried then just take the knife  ,and trim off the leaves  rotating the bunch as you go,Remove any stems, just pick the leaves off of them,Gather the leaves into a pile then use the fanning  motion rocking back and forth to chop it down,  ,we need two tablespoons,To peel the eggs just crack it on its side,  rotate it around, pull the shell away from the egg,Now slice this into 1/4-inch thick  pieces then chop into 1/4-inch dice,I've added the marina

next job main course and my take on an,iconic,american salad first made almost a,century ago,caesar salad is definitely a classic,but the trick to keeping dishes like,this modern and relevant,is to tweak them but not lose what made,them brilliant in the first place,here's my version for the ultimate,american lunch,my first twist is in the dressing begin,by making a basic mayonnaise,start off with the egg yolks in just,a little spoon dijon and then a little,splash,of red wine vinegar start whisking,once you've got that nice slightly,thickened texture,drizzling your olive oil,should fall through your whisk,it's like a nice thick double cream,texture,beautiful now take the mayo to another,level with anchovies,and crushed garlic now chop up,the anchovies and the garlic together so,we almost want that to be like a really,nice,puree then grated parmesan lemon juice,that will make the dressing,citrusy and then a little splash of,water,in,all of a sudden it transforms that,mayonnaise into an amazing,delicious light dressing,nice next job the croutons and i like,using crusty bread for extra crunch,and just dice up your bread season with,salt and pepper,then add to a hot pan with olive oil and,fry,give that a really nice toss as the,croutons start to turn golden,simply grate on a generous amount of,parmesan cheese keep them rolling around,stop them from sticking together look at,that really nice cheesy,delicious crouton and now,they're out now for the fun job,assembling the caesar salad starting,with romaine lettuce,and don't slice the lettuce,too thinly a squeeze of lemon on with,half of that gutsy,anchovy mayo dressing saving some to,coat your chicken later,then sprinkle half your croutons give,that,a really nice mix salad in,it's all beautifully dressed add the,remaining croutons and finish with a,good grating of parmesan cheese,that for me is a perfect caesar salad,however,i'm going to take it to another level,and grill a stunning,chicken breast start by preheating your,griddle pan,then butterfly your chicken breast,simply slice from the thin end towards,the thick bit,of the breast let the knife do the work,and literally just,open up now that's how we butterfly,a chicken breast so therefore it will,cook twice as quick,and just nice and moist in the center,season the chicken on both sides with,salt and ground pepper,lay your chicken breast onto the grill,cook for three to four minutes on each,side until the chicken's got those,lovely stripes from the griddle which,adds a gorgeous smoky flavor,whilst they rest spoon over some of the,remaining anchovy dressing,the chicken cools down the flavour the,seasoning of the anchovy,the garlic and the palm zone seeps into,that chicken slice the chicken into,strips,wow i serve the chicken warm in a,separate bowl,so it doesn't wilt the salad just bring,the dressing,finished out with a little touch of,dressing,an american classic i think one of the,most popular salads anywhere in the,world,but it's still one of the most delicious

(light music),(swooshes) (giggles),- Hey everybody, it's Natasha of Natashaskitchen.com,and today I wanna show you how to make,your new favorite salad.,We're making a chicken Cobb salad,,it is loaded with all of the best ingredients,and you're gonna love this dressing, so let's get started.,(claps),- The only cooking we need to do,in this recipe is the bacon,,so place a medium pan over medium heat,and add six ounces of chopped bacon,,saute that until it's golden brown and crisp.,And I love using the splatter guard to keep my stove,and my clothes clean,,I'll link to the one I have in the notes.,Once your bacon is crispy, transfer that to a separate plate,and set it aside to cool.,You'll need one medium head of romaine lettuce,or about five to six cups chopped.,(rhythmic upbeat music),Once it's all chopped up, I love to put in a salad spinner,to wash it, then spin it dry.,(rhythmic upbeat music),(pops),(chuckles),Salad spinners are brilliant for green salads,,they save so much time,and you'll never have another wet salad again.,We've had a couple of salad spinners,that have broken on us in the past,,but this is the best one I've tried,,and I will definitely leave a link to it,in the recipe notes.,Spread your prepared lettuce over a large serving platter,,this is gonna form the base of the salad.,Now you'll need two large chicken breasts,from a rotisserie chicken,,and if you saw our most recent video,,we shared how to cook a whole chicken in the Instant Pot,,and it really is just the juiciest and quickest way,to cook a whole chicken.,And if you're in a hurry and wanna save even more time,,you can use a store-bought rotisserie chicken,for this recipe.,Slice the chicken breast into bite-size strips,,then layer it over your romaine lettuce.,(rhythmic upbeat music),Next, you'll need two large hard-boiled eggs,and make sure you check out our tutorial,on how to boil eggs perfectly every time, it is so easy.,I'll leave a link to that in the notes.,Cut your eggs into fourths and layer them onto your platter.,(rhythmic upbeat music),Next, thinly slice one half cup of red onion,and I love using red onion because it's mild and flavor,and adds beautiful color to the salad.,Next, we'll need one cup of cherry tomatoes,and cut each of those in half,,it's easiest to do this with a serrated knife.,You can chop up heirloom tomatoes, when they're in season,,but I found that cherry tomatoes taste great all year long.,(rhythmic upbeat music),Next, we're gonna cut my personal favorite ingredient,,well, next to the bacon, of course, (chuckles),one large avocado.,(rhythmic upbeat music),Remove the pit and peel the avocado,,then slice into bite-size pieces.,When you slice, try to keep them in the rows,for a prettier presentation,when you transfer them to the salad.,Add your rows of avocados to the salad platter.,(rhythmic upbeat music),Next, layer on the rest of the ingredients,that you've prepared,,and for a Cobb salad you can arrange things in strips,or in little bunches like I am here.,All right, we have the tomatoes and the purple onions on.,Next, layer on your cooked crumbled bacon.,(bright upbeat music),And last but not least, add one half cup,of crumbled blue cheese.,I'm using a Gorgonzola blue cheese,and if you prefer not to use blue cheese,,a feta cheese would work here as well.,And we're gonna finish this off,with a little sprinkle of fresh parsley.,- Oh, that is just the prettiest salad,and it's totally making my mouth water.,But before we can enjoy that,,we're gonna make the most amazing balsamic vinaigrette,and all you need is a little mason jar.,(rhythmic upbeat music),- Add one third cup olive oil.,- And I'm using extra virgin,,because that gives this extra flavor, get it?,Extra, extra, okay (giggles).,Balsamic vinegar, three tablespoons of that,,and then we have our Dijon mustard.,(rhythmic upbeat music),Just one tablespoon goes a long way.,Press in one fresh garlic clove,and this adds fantastic flavor, so do not skip it.,(grunts),This is my favorite garlic press right here,,I'll link to it in the notes.,Every bit of garlic, love garlic.,And salt and pepper, just a quarter of teaspoon of salt,and a pinch of black pepper.,Put the lid on and shake, shake, shake,,until it's creamy smooth,(dressing burbles),That looks perfect.,(rhythmic upbeat music),Beautiful, you just want to shake it enough,,so that the mustard incorporates really well,into the dressing, yum-yum.,Okay, and then just drizzle it over the salad,right before serving.,That's exactly what we're gonna do.,(rhythmic upbeat music),Yum, and add the dressing to taste,,you don't have to use all of it.,All right, and I am ridiculously excited,for this taste test (chuckles).,Can you see why?,So, that's hi guys,welcome to my recipe book with me tarika,so today i'm going to make a salad with,very classic mexican flavors so guys,what should i start with chopping up the,salad or making the dressing dressing,dressing it is then,i'm gonna start,with some extra virgin olive oil two,tablespoons,and to this i'm going to add some fresh,coriander,which i will just chop up,slightly finely,and about three cloves of garlic that,are just finely minced,and now i'm going to add some dried,oregano,just about two teaspoons of it,and,about three tablespoons of lemon juice,now i'm using lemon juice but if you can,find lime juice fresh lime juice that,will make all the difference and then,about,3 4 of a teaspoon,of cumin powder,and some chili flakes,just about a quarter of a teaspoon no,more than that because there's a lot of,heat coming from the cumin and the,coriander so i don't want to add too,much chili to it and never without any,salt,and now just give this dressing a nice,whisk so that the flavors can really,combine and meld together and like all,dressings the longer it sits the,stronger the flavors get so i'm just,gonna move on to chopping up the salad,i'm gonna start with the lettuce this is,just about 200 grams of lettuce then i'm,just going to roughly chop into,bite-sized pieces you know it's very,important to chop up the lettuce into,bite-sized pieces because you know i'm,pretty sure we've all been to,restaurants where you've been served the,salad,and the lettuce is just to be big and,clumsy to eat,that's not her pretty picture,so don't do that when you're making,salad at home,just put it all in one bowl,now i'm just gonna add some tomatoes and,it's starting to look colorful already,some corn that i've just charred,slightly i just feel that it gives it a,deeper flavor so i just like it slightly,charred,and it's never a mexican salad without,some kidney beans so i've got about half,a cup that's been boiled,and it's completely cooked not raw and,now for the avocado,every time you buy an avocado and even,though you,kind of know how to feel your way,through getting a ripe one it's always a,surprise when you cut it open,now,do as i say and not as i do because i,should have probably got a bigger knife,to do this but i haven't but i'm still,managing to cut it open,just,scoop this out,and add it to the salad,so this is not mushy ripe it's it's just,about ripe which is fine,okay so the avocado is in the bowl as,well and now it's time for me to add,this lovely dressing,just add some of it,and just toss the salad through,always add the dressing in parts just so,that you've covered all of the salad and,you don't have you know one patch which,has more of the dressing than the other,and then sort of toss it through,you know just as i'm tossing this salad,i've just remembered that i completely,forgot to add the spring onion to it but,you know it's never too late i'm just,gonna add it right now,just,snip some of this in,and just continue tossing,so the salad is really well tossed,through and i'm ready to serve it so i'm,just gonna go ahead and do that,and you know this can accompany your,dinner tonight if you're having,sandwiches,if you're having pasta,it's a really hearty and filling,accompaniment to anything that you,decide to make for dinner,so guys my mexican salad is now ready,and i promise you you know just one bite,of this and you'll realize just how,indian the flavors are now while you're,busy making this mexican salad don't,forget to subscribe to our channel like,this video and also share it with your,friends be back here next week for more,such recipes see ya,you

- Right now we're all going through our pantries,and figuring out what we can make,with really simple ingredients.,And I've been hearing from a lot of you guys,over on Instagram that you have a lot of cans of tuna.,So today I'll show you how to make the best,tuna salad recipe that you've ever had,with really simple ingredients.,And you likely already have all of these items,in your fridge and pantry.,But unlike some tuna salads that look rather,mushy and bland and might even resemble cat food,,this one has texture and it truly holds its own.,Because it's filled with crisp celery,,vibrant red onion, and lots of flavor,from the herbs and the mustard and,it's all tied together with the mayonnaise.,It's fast, easy, economical and a classic.,So let me show you how to make tuna salad.,To get started you'll need two cans of tuna.,And my personal favorite is albacore tuna,but you can choose any variety.,If your tuna is packed in water or oil,you'll wanna open the cans and drain that off.,Higher end brands like wild planet and safe catch,aren't packed in any liquid it's just the tuna steak.,But you will get some naturally occurring liquids,from the fish oils.,Now you don't technically have to drain this off,but I find for this particular recipe,it is a little too soft and creamy if I keep the liquid,so I will go ahead and drain it.,Add your tuna to a mixing bowl,and because I've got solid pieces of tuna steak,I have to break it up a little bit with my fork,to get it to come out.,But you can see that the fish is nice and flakey,and definitely not mushy.,Next you'll need to chop up one rib of celery.,Celery gives our tuna salad some texture and crunch.,Not to mention fresh flavor.,So I'll run the knife down the length of the celery,two or three times then slice across for nice crispy chunks.,You can dice the celery as big or small as you like.,I tend to like pieces about this big.,But if you'd like the celery diced up smaller,feel free to do so.,Then add that to the bowl.,For a nice punch of flavor I'll add about two tablespoons,of diced red onion.,Red onion is always my favorite for salads.,And it's sweeter and not as pungent as yellow onion.,If you don't have red onion you can add two tablespoons,of sliced green onion or even diced shallot.,Which would impart a slight garlic flavor.,But when it comes to key ingredients,that make this the best tuna salad recipe,I'd say it's the fresh herbs.,So definitely don't leave these out.,Fresh herbs can easily elevate a recipe from good to great,by adding depth of flavor and just brightening it up.,And since we're now in spring,,it's the perfect time to make use,of those garden fresh herbs.,So you'll need one to two tablespoons,and I'm using chives and parsley today.,But feel free to use other herbs like dill,,tarragon, thyme, oregano or basil.,And once you've got those chopped up add them to the bowl.,Then add 1/2 a tablespoon of dijon mustard,for some bold tangy flavor with a little bit of spice.,And lastly add a quarter cup of mayonnaise,which is our creamy binder that will bring it all together.,And I'm using my homemade mayonnaise,which I have a separate video for.,But you could use store bought as well.,Then just season it with salt and pepper and give it a stir.,(gentle music),It's totally up to you on how chunky or creamy,you'd like your tuna salad,and if you'd like it a little creamier,just add more mayonnaise.,Tuna salad is a great recipe that you can enjoy on its own,or with some crackers.,But there's many creative ways to serve it as well.,You can stuff it into halves of avocado, tomato,,or bell pepper.,Make lettuce wraps using romaine or butter lettuce.,Or make a sandwich.,I'm opting for the latter today.,And using my favorite gluten free bread.,And since I know you guys are gonna ask which brand it is,it's Canyon Bakehouse.,So I'll add a few leaves of lettuce to a slice of bread,and then pile the tuna salad on top.,And just look at how chunky,and creamy and colorful that salad is.,(gentle music),Now I'll often keep my tuna salad sandwich,as an open faced sandwich like this.,But if you'd like to add the top piece of bread go for it.,I hope you guys love this easy recipe today.,And if you did make sure to share it,with your family and friends and I will see you again,in the next video.,(gentle music)
