7up Lime JELL-O Salad, NO BAKE, VINTAGE DESSERT
hello everyone and welcome back to,catherine's plates today i've got a,vintage dessert for you you know i love,these with the jello in them this one is,a 7up lime jello salad,oh it's cool it's refreshing it's really,easy to make so i'm going to go ahead,and get started what i want to do is,show you how to make the jello now we're,not going to make it per the directions,on the back of the package so make sure,you follow along,the first thing to do to make the jello,is we're going to put a medium saucepan,on a burner and put it on high heat,i'm going to place two cups of water,into the pot,and we're going to bring that to a boil,with easter coming right around the,corner this would be a great dessert,also but it's great for any time,now you want to make sure your water,comes to a boil you need it that hot,there's several ways to get your water,hot enough for this dessert you can boil,it like i'm doing here you can put it in,a peak pot like this and then bring that,to a boil or you can put it in the,microwave and bring it to a boil that,way,we've got a boil going on what i'm going,to do now is turn off the burner,we're going to add the water to a large,mixing bowl,i love these no-bake desserts the only,thing you had to do was boil some water,and that's the only thing that we're,going to be cooking or baking today for,this dessert,okay we got our water into a large,mixing bowl,i've got six ounces of lime,jello so we're going to go ahead and add,that to the hot water,and then you're going to want to stir,this for a few minutes,until all of the sugars in the jello,have dissolved,oh look at that pretty green in there,you can save this recipe for next year,for st patrick's day,all right i'm just going to stir this,until all the sugars have dissolved take,about two to three minutes,don't stir too hard,you don't want that water to backsplash,on you burn you so be careful,it smells delicious,y'all let me know down in the,description box what flavors you would,use for your jello mixture,when you get all of the sugars dissolved,what we're going to do is add six ounces,of cream cheese now brought this to room,temperature and then i kind of popped it,in the microwave for about 10 seconds,still wanted to get that chill off of it,i just broke it into about six pieces,i'm going to add that to the jello,mixture and then what we're going to do,is take our electric hand mixer we're,going to blend that until it's nice and,smooth and creamy,now very carefully add it to the jello,you don't want to splash it,all right it looks really nice and,smooth,just like that,you just want to make sure there's no,clumps of cream cheese in the mixture,here,let me give that a taste,now that's a good flavor,that cream cheese just lightened up that,lime flavor,smoothed it out,we're gonna go ahead now and get the,seven up involved two cups,i'm to measure it out,we're going to go ahead and add the,seven up to the mixture,stir that together,what we're going to do now is place this,in the refrigerator find a nice happy,spot for it where it won't get bumped,around and it's going to soft set for,about one hour and then we have a what the,soft set is going to look like almost,like a pudding consistency what we're,going to do is add 16 ounces of cool,whip or if you want to make your own,homemade whipped topping you can do that,also the original recipe called for,dream whip and it's a powder form and,you would make it from there,all right we're just going to blend this,together,so just use the folding technique,so pull vintage recipes,okay we're gonna move this off to the,side i'm just gonna bring over a small,bowl i'm just gonna put a little,strainer on it,okay i've got some crushed pineapple and,i'm going to put 10 ounces of it into,our mixture here but i'm going to drain,it first,i'm just going to squeeze the juice out,i love pineapple juice so we won't go to,waste,now if you want to put the whole can in,there you can but my husband's not a big,fan of pineapple but this will work for,them i'm just going to stir this in,make sure everything's combined,i'm going to bring a baking dish over,it doesn't have to be a 9x13 it can be a,little less than that and what i'm going,to do is pour it in,oh,look at that,okay we're going to flatten this out,evenly,there we go,got my husband over here eating out 7-UP MAYONNAISE Jello SALAD Retro Recipe Test | You Made What?!
Greetings my beautiful lovelies hello. It's Emmy welcome back to another retro recipe test today,I'm going to be making,7-up salad,So many of you chimed in via social media that you want to see this recipe made and tasted so here,I am today with my jello mold,Let me take you into the kitchen and show you what I did to get to this stage so in a medium saucepan,We're going to heat our 7-up along with our mini marshmallows,We're going to bring this up to a boil on medium heat and keep stirring,This until everything is completely dissolved. So once our marshmallows have dissolved, we're gonna add one small packet of lime jell-o,Mix that up until the jello is well incorporated,And then we're going to add our cream cheese you might want to cut this up into pieces a little bit to help it dissolve,And keep stirring this on medium medium-low heat until,You have this,Ectoplasmic ooze color and all the cream cheese is melted,Next we're going to add our crushed pineapple and our maraschino cherries,Now we're gonna take this off the heat and in a large bowl we're going to combine our cool whip and,our mayonnaise. Mix that together and then add our green jello mixture to that,Then we're gonna mix this all together,And then we're gonna pour it into our mold,,We're gonna place it into the refrigerator and chill it for at least six hours. It's best to do it overnight and,Dun Dun Dun Dun! We are with our jello mold. This is actually a pudding mold. That's why it has this lid,more like a traditional Figgy Duff or figgy pudding something like that or bread pudding. Unlock it and,There it is,Smells like mayonnaise I definitely smell some mayonnaise it smells just slightly vinegared. Yeah, but this is definitely going to be sweet,There's a ton of sugar in this. Before we continue,I should mention that I have a retro recipe playlist up the link there and there,,And if you're at all interested in gelatin or ring molds that is definitely a place of much joy. All right,Now let us try to get this out. In my past experience what I've done is I've taken a bowl of water,don't want it to be too hot. We're gonna take a thin and paring knife and kind of,Loosen it,We're trying to do is trying to get some air in there,So it'll release so when put that in there for just a few seconds,One two three four five six seven eight nine ten,Quick ten seconds that was just warm water here we go,Let's shake,Did that come out?,Nope,No,,Let's try that again!,So I've got some more hot tap water let's try that again shall we,Now let's try this again, let's do it for another ten seconds,One one thousand two one thousand three one thousand four one thousand five one thousand six one thousand seven thousand eight 1,009 1,010,Let's do another 5 seconds just added measure,A good measure, okay, okay now place this back on top like this and here we go oh,All right,Not coming out,Come! Out! Of! The! Mold!,Let's try our knife technique. Oh you know why!,I forgot to go around here,Yeah, that's why,All right, let's try more hot water let's give it a longer bath,Yeah, I think this is probably the most aggravating part of these jell-o molds is getting it out,Cuz if you soak it too long you end up melting,The exterior of your jello, which isn't so fun,so,That was probably another 15 seconds,All right, okay. Jello mold be good to me,This is silly,It's definitely still stuck in there. This is so much fun. All right here we go,It's not coming out, let's try an offset spatula,Ooh ooh! I think I just heard it release,All right, so I just heard it go, *slurping noises*,and I believe,It's come out. Ready? Here we go,That was the most satisfying sound ever! My jello just farted, yes!,I'm so happy,Yes! Look at that,perfection,perfection perfection,Look at that my mint green tower of,mayo,So that a little bit of aggravation that happens when you're trying to get the thing out well,It's worth it when it comes out like this,Yes, so for a little extra holiday flare, I'm going to add a little bit of Holly. Of course,you don't want to eat the Holly, Holly is poisonous I believe. Who's gonna eat the Holly when this is so beautiful?,Alright alright. So happy that it came out,Yeah, you know if you use Holly be careful because it's spikey,Wouldn't Martha be proud of me? I can definitely smell mayonnaise,I didn't think I would with all the other things that are going on, but I do smell it. It's a very rare treat actually,,that we have 7-Up in the house so in honor of that occasion,,I'll make myself a little cocktail here with this alien head vodka,,that one of you sent us in the mail, more specifically an 8 year old sent me,this is the mail, which isn't illegal, I'm pretty sure. *DEMONETISED* This is definitely part of a nutritious diet. A little bit of this.,UHHH...,A whole bunch of that, huh???,Maybe a little more of that. They're garnished with a lime and cheers. Happy F**ing New Year!,WHOO! Let's make some salad! All right, get yourself a big f**king bowl.,And then seven ounces of 7-Up. How the f*** do I measure that? Ounces, are there ounces on here? Okay? All right? All right? All right?,All right, I can't see what the goddamn bubbles here. All right, close enough. Pour that in there. *savagely rips bag of marshmallows*,8 ounce bag of marshmallows. No, I did this wrong, goddamn it. I gotta put this in a pan, not a bowl. *it's actually a pot*,All right, maybe, maybe this will work. Yeah, there we go. You mix this up here until everything dissolves.,Huh, that looks good already. Now you add the jello. *insert Bill Cosby joke here*,*HEY HEY HEY!*,Put that in. Oh yeah!,That looks f**king gross. Oh.,That smells terrible. Okay, I think that's whatever all the kids are doing.,Now, you just add the cream cheese. Wait, is it the whole thing of cream cheese? I don't know yet. okay today I'm going to do mom's jello,7up salad and you need two small boxes,of orange jell-o a cup and a half of,water which is enough percolating the,humpers on boil wat a boiled water and a,container 7up and then that's your first,step and then you add crushed pineapple,and banana sliced banana and then,optional things my mom also put in,mandarin oranges and usually a handful,or two of mini marshmallows and for the,cars pineapple you want to keep the,juice reserve it and you should have,about a cup of it which comes in later,for the topping so this is what you need,so far that bottle bottle bottle okay I,put the jello in a bowl and when the,water gets to boiling a hat here he,comes with it you want to dissolve your,jello yep pour it in not on me you,almost filled it on me you'll be the,more you know and you want to stir it,and dessert dissolve your jello into,your hot water and I'll be back when,that is dude once the jello is dissolved,you want to pour in when you open that,folder and pour this in for me dead you,want to pour in the container of 7up,here we go,is there,and it fizzes right up and then you want,to put this in the frigerator and let it,get thick and syrupy I don't know how,long it'll take out tell you after I'd,do it and I'll be yeah the Jumbo has,gotten a little thicker and syrupy and,now I'm going to add the bananas and the,pineapple and the mandarin oranges and,the those things marshmallows and I will,be back now I got everything mixed in,here and as you'll notice the,marshmallows always float and I'm going,to pour it into my pan then they look,lovely I put all of the mandarin oranges,all the pineapple and the three bananas,in there just a couple big handfuls of,marshmallows okay there it is in the pan,and that we're going to sigh this new,frigerator and let it get nice and set,put the little lid on it and and then,the topping takes a half cup of sugar,and three tablespoons of flour which is,in this bowl two tablespoons of butter,and egg and the cup of pineapple juice,that you set aside I'm going to beat the,eggs slightly and you put this on the,stove to cook and I will come back when,I get to that it looks kind of nasty,right now but when it cooks together and,thickens up it'll look a lot better I'm,waiting for the butter to totally melt,that I might whisk it a little bit the,girl lumps out but there's what that,stuff looks like so far you cook this,until it gets really thick almost like a,pudding doesn't take very long and then,you set it aside to let it cool because,you can't put a hot mixture on a jello,because you know well won't work now the,cats get in trouble,I'm here dance threatening to knock her,out,call Keaney protective service all right,I'm gonna is cool and then later on,tonight you'll see me put this on that,when everything is cool and ready to,roll okay my jello is all jellified look,at shimmer see it jiggle what,wiggle he's over there making grilled,cheese sandwich so now I'm going to,pretty much just frost it almost like a,cake with some my topping which is all,cool and it's a good so I'll get a,frosted then I'll show you what it looks,like it's hard to do it and film at the,same time and there it is with the,topping all frosted on it and it's ready,to eat,and dad's over there fighting with a,pepperoni container,I guess you won so we are going to try,this here in a little bit we're going to,have some for dessert here's my first,dish of 7up jell-o salad what makes it,the best is the topping toppings awesome,ain't that your favorite part too the,topping he's having some to try about,should be better about it,you bet your vote lip stuff I hope,somebody tries it,you

hey guys I said I would try making that,7up salad so we are going to try making,a 7up salad I'm wearing a free t-shirt,that Noddy got for donating blood don't,forget to donate blood we have all the,ingredients for the 7up side of course,there's 7up I got that 7up because I,like drinking it better there's like,jello there's pineapple marshmallows,maraschino cherries cool whip cream,cheese and of course mayonnaise and upon,the suggestion of John Caswell I'm gonna,split the batch when we get to the mayo,point and put mayo in half of it and not,on the other half to see what the,situation is with the mayo the first,step is to heat up seven ounces of 7up,which is the stupidest measurement I've,ever heard in my life fortunately for,this recipe I am a serious chef and I,have a measurement that has a 7 ounce,mark on it because why wouldn't you just,make it a cup this is weird,we're heating up soda it's like full,soda,it's already very exciting so the next,step is to put in the marshmallows into,the hot seven ah this is a 10 ounce bag,of marshmallows but the recipe calls for,8 ounces of mini marshmallows most of,the time these simple recipes are built,so that you can just like get a can of,this stuff or a bag of this stuff so I'm,gonna put most of these mini,marshmallows into the hole no sort of a,tragedy down here that is a marshmallow,but it's dead now if you've ever made,rice krispies treats you probably know,how this goes and it smells like seven,marshmallows I mean it does what it says,on the tin okay the marshmallows are all,melted and it looks like this jello oh,it's so green this is the color I was,expecting so no surprises here okay the,next step is whisking in the cream,cheese not gonna try that once again the,amount of cream cheese I'm supposed to,put in is six ounces this is eight,ounces of cream cheese so I'm gonna have,to insist cream cheese,I mean I'll eat it it's fine doesn't,this look delicious it's cream cheese in,lime jell-o okay so I broke up the cream,cheese with my spatula it's like a rain,screen maybe so now we're going to add,some more stuff to the quote-unquote,salad okay next step is adding cherries,maraschino cherries to the mixture I've,taken all the syrup out of this have a,nice Shirley Temple I'm gonna chop these,up and throw them in there with the,pineapple,storm and these are gonna go in the gel,mixture yeah just sort of like a neon,green and a real bright red we've also,got our pineapple here and she said,she's is about a cup I'm gonna use like,half of this probably so here's all our,stuff mmm,it's turning into a really just really,terrible color and consistency I don't,want to say it looks like vomit because,I feel like for this to be your vomit,you would have had to have eaten Kermit,the Frog but it does look a little bit,like vomit I have split the Cool Whip,into two bowls and I'm gonna mix,mayonnaise half the amount of mayonnaise,that the recipe actually calls for into,One Bowl of Cool Whip so we can do a,taste test,the full recipe calls for a half cups I,have two I'm gonna put the Mayo in this,green bowl so we remember which one is,which this is the one with no mayo,it still looks terrible but it smells,okay and later I'm gonna eat it I don't,really think there's a way for me to,communicate how truly awful the color,it's almost gray it's like almost a,Beauty and the Beast try the grape stuff,it's delicious kind of situation it's,like the color of putrescence it looks,like it's warned you not to eat it,because it's the color of a zombie mayo,green bowl no mayo clear bowl see what,happens,hello back it's now several hours later,and the jell-o's have been chilling in,the fridge no mayo delicious mail mmm,I'm gonna start with nail because I feel,like that's the one where we're kind of,like what's going on here what's this,about you can see there the texture,there's some sort of it's sort of bubbly,I guess that's the 7up part I mean,little taste like there's mayonnaise in,it here's the other thing I love jell-o,salad I grew up eating it and I loved it,so in terms of like baseline I'm already,kind of on board and here's the no mayo,what that texture looks like mmm the no,mayo is more like fluffy and the mayo,and is more like creamy but it,definitely doesn't taste like there's,mayo it tastes like lime jell-o with,with pineapples in it and now I have to,eat all of this because nutty won't eat,any,not right now hmm 7-up salad two thumbs,up

(laughing),Oh, I like that.,Well, Bubbles, our friend,,sent me a recipe,,and she said,,she sent it to Teresa and said,,tell Paula to make this salad.,It is so good.,And it's so easy.,And when I make things like this,,my kids,,look at it and say,,oh Mama,,you making some of them geriatric salads, I see.,(laughing),But you know,,yes, yes I am.,And I happen to like geriatric salads.,In fact, I liked 'em when I was not a geriatric person.,(laughing),And my mother made something similar,to this every Christmas,,but this is,,yeah, A good bit different from Mama's.,So this is real easy y'all.,You need a 16 ounce carton of cottage cheese.,And Bubbles told me that this works real good,,if you're trying to cut the calories,,that it works just as well with that fat free stuff,or something.,You know, I'd rather just cut my portion,,and gimme the good stuff.,All right, let's see.,I'm gonna use a 3.4, I think it is.,- It's already a,,- Three ounce, yeah.,Three ounce package of lime jello gelatin.,(jello tinkling),So we're gonna stir that together.,Ooh, I just love the lime.,The gel salad that Mama made at Christmas,was a lime and a lemon,,and it was so good.,- You know, I was reading some of the comments,we asked, like whatever flavors we, you know, they might,- Uh huh.,would like to see on those orange blossom,,and lemon blossoms? - Yes.,- And someone brought up a key lime one,,which I bet would be good.,- Whoo.,- Let's do it!,- And then cherry would be good too.,- And you can buy the key lime juice,,- Yes!,- You know you can buy 'em.,- Yes.,Yum!,- Maybe, we can ask Michael,to bring us some back from Key West.,- Key West, yeah.,- (laughing) Yep, Michael's in Key West.,Eddie is back in place,,and me and Teresa, we ain't been nowhere.,We don't get to go nowhere. (laughing),- We haven't been anywhere.,- All right, now, the next thing I'm gonna do,is,,use a 20 ounce,,yeah, this is a 20 ounce can,of crushed pineapple,,and,,Bubbles says to drain it slightly.,So, (can banging),we've called ourselves draining it slightly.,And we are just gonna fold that in.,(jello sloshing),This is so dad gum simple, isn't it?,And the beauty of this one,is you don't have to put it in a mold,or anything like that.,This will just be a spoon up,,and,,a cup of nuts,,you know what, there's not many left.,(Teresa laughing) (Paula laughing),So we'll just get rid of 'em all,,get done with that one.,All right,,And then the last ingredient,(spatula banging),that we're gonna put in,,is,,one eight ounce tub,,(spatula banging),I think this is eight ounce.,- No, it's like a,,it's a little bit bigger than that, almost,it's a twelve ounce?,- Well I don't see it, let's see,,oh, there it is.,Eight ounces, yeah.,An eight ounce container of your frozen whipped topping.,(spatula banging),- And look, what's even better.,It's no cleanup,,because unless you save carton,,- I mean look,,- unless you save the plastic cartons,,which a lot of people do, it's all going,,- I do save these.,Cause they just work out,well good, yeah. - They're great,,but it all goes, there's no bowls or,,(salad sloshing),- So, I think children,,I think children would like this don't you?,- Mm hm.,- Kinda like a dessert.,- Have them sit in front of a TV.,- Yes.,And if you don't have the frozen whipped topping,,and you got fresh cream,,(bowl scraping),you could take one cup of fresh cream,,and a fourth a cup of sugar,,and make your own eight ounce carton of topping.,Look at that.,You know, I used to make,,I hadn't made it in years,,like a heavenly,salad, or something like that,,that's much like this.,- It had marshmallows.,- With marshmallows.,- Yes, it had marshmallows. - Yeah.,- What was the name of that, salad?,- I don't know.,I don't know that I've ever had it.,- Oh, I got it somewhere.,It's somewhere rattling around, up in there.,- Did it have pineapple?,Pineapple and,,- Seems like it had pineapple in it.,- You could put marshmallows in that too.,- Yeah.,Okay, so we just gonna put this (spatula banging),in the refrigerator, and let it kind of set,,(bowl scraping),and then we'll come back,,and enjoy some of this.,Mm,,Mm,,Mm.,Mm,,this needs to be a little bit,thicker y'all, but,,it's,,good enough to taste.,Mm.,So good.,Reminds me of my Mama.,Mm.,You could take this,,and add marshmallows to it,,coconu

hi everyone welcome to my channel,hey it is summertime and i think it is,time to have me some,jello salad so i am going to be making,one of my favorite jello salads,and that is the raspberry fluff and,so let's get started,um we're going to start out with,three cups of water in a pan here,i have two cups there so i'm going to,grab me one more cup,right over here here's my other cup of,water,i'm going to put that right in there now,i'm going to take me,some raspberry jello,now you need three ounces of it and i've,got the bigger one,here so i've got to use just half of,this,they didn't have any of the small,raspberries so i'm going to try and,guess at it,and get about half of it in there,okay got half of that raspberry jello,now i'm gonna,put in half of the vanilla pudding,which you need three ounces,i don't know what was up at the store,today that they had,uh none of the smaller ones,oh god right there,and grab about half of that,yep went to double check i had,wrote on my box how much we actually,needed,i'm just going to turn that clay mine,and stir until it boils,i don't know if any of you have ever had,this before,and i already got it on my counter,over my stove top we'll wipe that off,so it don't dry,but uh yeah we're just gonna whisk this,together and bring it to a boil then,we're gonna,boil it for one minute,so i'll continue to stir this,and i'll be back when it boils,so you don't have to sit here the whole,time,i actually um grab the whisker,because it actually says to use a whisk,so i am going by what it is telling me,to do,okay it's just starting to boil,so we are going to continue,to whisk it for one minute,you look at my pot,and but make sure,to keep stirring it because you don't,want it to stick,sure smells good though smells like,you're in a raspberry pill,my little whisker is getting kind of,warm you trim that down,like that,and you can tell it's starting to,thicken up too,and i don't want it to over flow i'm,going to go down a little bit more with,that plane,should be about to my minute mark here,so i'm gonna call that,a minute,okay now we're gonna take that,off the flame can you see that i don't,know if you can,look at that okay so we're going to pour,that,into our container,and this is going to go in to the,refrigerator,for several hours or overnight,so this is going to go in there and cool,and when it is ready we will finish this,raspberry fluff up i mean it smells so,good,so make sure you stay tuned for it um,so when we are done i will finish it up,with yelp,okay um i thought hey one salad,why don't we make two so we're going to,be making for the second salad,a 7 out salad and to get started,i am going to add in 2 cups,of water into my pan,we're gonna heat that to boiling so,and then once that is boiling i'm going,to be adding in,one large box of the lemon jello,so what we got to do is wait for the,water to boil,oh yeah how many lovely worth of water,to boil,it seems like it takes forever right so,hey in the meantime while we're waiting,on the water to boil,maybe you can go down there and hit the,like button and subscribe if you haven't,already,i'd really appreciate it it helps my,channel grow,and hey so i'm gonna wait for the water,to boil,okay my water is starting to boil you,know the old saying,a watching pot never boils i kind of,believe that,i was standing here waiting for the,water to start boiling,and it seemed like it was taking forever,okay so i got,my lime jello and we're gonna,put that in our water,and stir that up real well,and shut that up and we're just,going to continue to get that stirred,here,let me,just stir it up and get it getting,dissolved okay,i'm gonna say probably about a minute,for you to stir it where it's dissolved,enough,okay i'm going to move it over here,so you can see what's going on,like that okay here is my pan,with this stuff in it now we are taking,um,some cream cheese it is eight ounces,of softened cream cheese,get this opened,and i think my easiest way is gonna use,maybe my knife here,just get into it like that,there we got it you did it,okay and just kind of break it up,a little bit in there get it mixed,okay now what you do you can take your,um electric mixer,and i'm using a hand mixer so,we're just going to get this blended,real good,without it going everywhere,you just want,me,so you can tell how it's crossing,okay i think i have everything blended,here,make sure i don't have any lumps,and i am not seeing any lumps,so i'm gonna call that good so now we're,just going to dump that,into our bowl,and this is going to chill for an hour,hour and a half and then we'll finish up,on,the seven of oh no,no i forgot i forgot hold on guys,i forgot the seven up so we are gonna,have to put that back in there,okay we need two cups the seven up to,that,head is sitting right there in front of,me too,let's see if we can get two cups out of,a can of pop here,that looks like it's pretty close,i'm gonna go with it i don't think it,has to be perfect,i almost forgot the key
