This Cranberry Fluff Salad Tastes SO Much Better Than It Looks | Hey Y'all | Southern Living

it's not a looker i will give it that,but,it is definitely going to be a taster,hey y'all i am making cranberry fluff,salad because if you ask me there is not,a thanksgiving in the south that is,complete without a retro fluff salad or,a jello mold or better yet both so in,honor of all of the thanksgivings in,christmas has passed i am going to make,a traditional fluff salad recipe that,you definitely want to add to your table,this year,really it's super easy and honestly so,tasty it is not cranberry sauce and it's,not like a jelly like consistency it,incorporates whipped cream and,marshmallows and cream cheese,so that the fruit of the cranberries,gets mixed all up in there and it is so,so good and really like fluffy in your,mouth hence the name cranberry fluff the,very first step is obtaining,your cranberries here we are with our,food processor and i have 12 ounces,of fresh cranberries you can also use,frozen for this recipe but definitely,thaw them before you use them and we're,going to pulse it about six to eight,times until most of them are pretty well,chopped but there are some pieces that,remain okay,and that is really it this is what your,cranberry mixture,should look like peasy but mostly,chopped and then you are going to add,all of your chopped cranberries from,your food processor to a large bowl with,three cups of mini marshmallows,and three quarters cup of granulated,sugar give that a really good toss,with a,rubber spatula,and then cover it in plastic wrap and,then we're going to,chill it in the fridge,for at least four hours or you could do,this the day ahead so you could do it up,to,overnight so about 12 hours okay so here,we are it's been four hours the,marshmallows are like super fluffy oh i,cannot wait to mix in the rest of the,ingredients with this so the next step,is really easy it's just stirring a,bunch of things in after you beat them,in the mixer so we need to make whipped,cream and we need to soften cream cheese,which has been sitting at room,temperature so it's already room,temperature but we're going to beat it,in the mixer until it's not lumpy and,this will also help the softening,process then we'll add in some super,cold heavy whipping cream about one cup,of that and beat that almost until soft,peaks form then add in another cup and,keep beating it until stiff peaks form,and then we're going to fold that,into our marshmallow cranberry mixture,with some chopped pecans and some halved,seedless red grapes and some salt,because salt makes everything taste,better it's a flavor enhancer so it,brings out the natural flavors,in what you are doing so it makes the,cranberries more tart but also sweeter,the marshmallow sweeter it just makes,everything taste better it's not a,looker i will give it that but it is,definitely,going to be a taster so i'm going to put,this into a serving bowl,and start eating it because,i'm so excited about this cranberry,fluff salad,look at it,fluffy,cranberry goodness,let's dig,in,it's fluffy it's sweet fruity tangy the,crunch of the pecans and the like burst,of the grapes,um exactly what you want in a fluff,salad,if you liked this super short and sweet,video be sure to let me know in the,comments if you're watching on youtube,click the bell so you never miss an,episode of hey y'all,like share subscribe if you have a,favorite,retro fluff salad recipe,that is always on your thanksgiving,table i would love to read about it in,the comments if you try this,take a picture and tag me on instagram,at iveodum and at southernlivingmag we,love to see when you all recreate what,we do on hey y'all in your real life

it's time to cook with Susan Beck I'm,here today to teach you how to make my,favorite salad cranberry fluff stone I,am love cranberries maybe it's that good,old Wisconsin girl in me I love the,tartness of this tiny little round fruit,mmm I love it in the salad what would,his cranberry sauce and I love cranberry,juice today we're going to sweeten these,cranberries up a little bit put in 1 cup,of fresh cranberries before I dump them,in there I need to put my blade to my,processor a little noisy,okay I've got those chopped a little bit,I think they could use a little more you,have them are still Hall so bear with me,in this loud noise processor was the,best job alright those are Paul step,nicely there now once those are broken,into smaller pieces we're going to add,one and a half cups of marshmallows,alright alright moving on to the sugar,we're going to put three cups sugar into,our marshmallows and cranberries and,then just stir that that sugar will mix,in overnight with the cranberries and,tomorrow they'll be ready to turn into,this fluffy salad with whipped topping,alright the next step in this recipe is,to beat our whipped topping I have,already done that in my stand mixer,using two cups of heavy whipping cream,and four tablespoons of granulated sugar,so in here I have some nice stiff peaks,that's how you know it's done when it'll,cling to your whisk do this with a hand,mixer as well I have a video showing you,how to make this post it on youtube if,you'd like to see this being made and I,told you that our cranberries,marshmallows and sugar mixture needed to,sit in the refrigerator overnight or at,least for on several hours while I made,up two so I have one ready,we'll get that out of the fridge so here,is what we have after it has sat,overnight and you can just see those,cranberries are starting to get a little,bit on the gooey side and it's breaking,down all those sugars and everything is,mixing together whipped topping our,cranberries that are starting to produce,juice we have a quarter cup of pecans,and about one cup of crushed pineapple,the recipe originally called the chunk,pineapple I use whichever I have on hand,it is draining and one Apple that we,will peel and core it's time to peel the,Apple again that would be optional if,you want to leave the skins on you Ken,and I will break this in to cut this,into some smaller pieces for our salad,after removing the core of course this,is a very forgiving recipe you really,can adjust the amount of cranberries,marshmallows pineapple apples cuts to,whatever proportions its you like so,I've got small little pieces of apple,and that is going to go into our Cool,Whip also going in there is the quarter,cup pecans,one cup pineapple well drained and our,cranberries marshmallows and the sugar,that helped to bring out some of the,juices in those cranberries last night,and turn this into a little sweeter dish,you'll find that this dish is sweet yet,has a little bit of tartness because,those cranberries didn't lose all of,that when we added the sugar all right,to mixing this salad together is that we,fold so fold means that we flip things,over each other that Cool Whip in there,that would topping in there we don't,want that to become condensed we want to,keep it light and fluffy so we're just,going to fall until everything is pink,this is a great salad for Valentine's,Day or Christmas with that bright color,I think about color when I serve meals,and I always like to have something that,makes the meal pop a little bit,choosing my vegetable is important in,that too so that the whole plate doesn't,look bland and brown in color all right,so we have a pale pink color here and,everything seems nicely mixed I have a,nice dish here that we will put into,for serving purposes it looks a little,nicer in there than it does in my great,big mixing law alright let's give this a,taste spoon here every bite should have,a little bit of pineapple apple,cranberry marshmallow mmm to me it's a,perfect salad too much sugary nuts in a,fruit salad to me just isn't very,pleasurable and I really enjoyed that,tartness of the cranberry mixed in with,our other flavors plus the Apple and the,pecans give it a little bit of crunch,very good textures in this salad so if,you'd like to make this the recipe will,be posted to below along with the recipe,for making whipped topping from scratch,enjoy

welcome to the Thanksgiving kitchen here,at KJ and Company we are going to make a,cranberry fluff salad now you may be,asking what is a cranberry Bluff salad,if you're from the Midwest you know,what's going on you can you show up to a,Thanksgiving meal or any holiday meal,really without some cranberry fluff or a,Fluff salad or jello salad so,essentially we're taking cranberry sauce,Mandarin oranges cream cheese heavy,cream whipping it all together and it is,a salad that has no greens but it's the,perfect way to get in your cranberry,sauce for Thanksgiving all right so,we're going to start with the cranberry,filling and we're also gonna have some,Mandarin oranges in it so it's gonna be,it's gonna feel a little Sunny because,well you're just gonna take this and,foreign,get it on out hold on,we're Underground,so you just get your cray cranberry,jelly into a bowl,isn't that beautiful and you're just,gonna,mix it up into pieces cut it up into,pieces because then these Mandarin,oranges are going to get mixed in with,it,and then it's all going to get folded,into the creamy goodness,okay and go the oranges,you're just gonna kind of mix it all,together all right so you're just going,to mix these together just kind of,roughly combine it because then they're,really going to get mixed together with,all the fluffy fluffy creamy stuff,okay,I know it looks weird it looks weird but,trust the process we got trust it okay,we're gonna set that aside and we're,gonna whip up some cream cheese we're,gonna get it nice and fluffy,whole pack okay,foreign,and just get it fluffy and nice and,creamy,and then just to sweeten it up a little,bit we're going to add in just a little,bit of sugar and that much because we,want the fruit to shine,um we want all of those flavors to be,prominent,plus this is It's a salad it's not,dessert so,we gotta keep it a little healthy,okay then mix that together,now that's all done and we're going to,move on to making some homemade whipped,cream we're just pour in roughly two,cups of heavy cream I'm gonna eyeball it,and,St Peters you don't need to clean them,just get to whipping,all right,that is all whipped and beautiful and,perfectly fluffy so now we get to,combine everything together and then,we're done it's easy as that okay so,we're gonna fold just fold in this cream,cheese mixture into the whipped cream,and just put it in,and you want to try to keep the whipped,cream nice and fluffy,and so that's why we're going to fold it,just kind of do circular motions,grabbing pieces of the cream cheese,mixture and mixing it in,it doesn't have to be perfect,so the beauty of this salad is that it's,not formal at all so if there are some,like little lumps in it it's totally all,right because nobody's gonna care,okay in go and and go in goes the fruit,mixture and all of its blurry,we've folded it,here we go there's excess marinade and,we got full on Thanksgiving kitchen,happening so we got Cooks in the kitchen,we got dogs running around,we've got dishes that's life,all right,this is getting all fluffy,and it starts to get really colorful,just from the fruit,that wonderful cranberry color,I mean who wants just plain old,cranberry sauce anymore we want,something good,all right possibly the funnest part yet,we got Milos mini marshmallows,because a classic Midwest salad would,not be complete without marshmallows,just gonna eyeball this just pour them,on in other things you could do you,could do nuts if you like to have some,maybe some pecans or walnuts in there,you just fold in those Mallows it just,adds to the fluffiness,and the decadence of this salad,just a little bit more just a little bit,okay,okay and then you just,so you just transfer it to your serving,dish,just,plop it right on in,I mean how great is this is considered a,salad a side dish and a cranberry dish,so it takes care of so many things,checks all the boxes,and plus like,fun,it's got mini malos in it it's got cream,cheese whipped cream,and the classic combination of cranberry,and orange,can't go wrong now the beauty of this,salad you could eat it right now it's,ready to go you could just stick a,serving spoon in it and set it on the,table or we just pop it in the fridge it,kind of gets set a little bit so it's a,little bit more,firm and scoopable and I mean you can,make this in advance,two days in advance so you do nothing on,Thanksgiving all you have to do is pop,it out you could put some garnishes on,it maybe some like oranges and fresh,cranberries so they know what's in it or,you can just leave it as it is and just,let people dig in because because,it's so pretty,okay I'm gonna put in the fridge,just a few orange slices and cranberries,bring this cranberry fluff salad to life,and now I,gotta get a you,let's make the best Cranberry Salad,first time we Rondo's got a cranberries,ready and we're gonna rinse them off,good and I'm just gonna kind of look for,something they're trying to get rotten,usually you won't find very many in the,bag and you can you might not see them,if you bring your your fingers so you,can fill them because they'll be really,mushy and just get them thumb out,now we all know that cranberries are,chart but things like this this one's,hard,and green and I'm just gonna get rid of,them when they're like that because,they're tart enough as they are you,don't want them big old hard green ones,in there but if you find anything,they're just mushy mushy I should get,them out there of course we are gonna,put sugar on them helps weighting them a,little bit but even at that cranberries,are very charged but so good okay we got,our cranberries in here my food,processor and now we're just gonna kind,of pulse it and chop them up a little,bit you want to be careful you don't,want to overdo it and just pulverize,them just a few times and I check them,and that looks pretty good to me,if I can get it off here I'll show you,what it looks like and that's the the,texture you want you don't want them,chopped up any more than this because,you won't be able to bite in time still,see that's that's pretty good just a,couple of pulses so let's put some sugar,on them we've got about two cups of,sugar on our cranberries and we're just,gonna,mix the sugar up really good because I,want the sugar to dissolve and to,sweeten our cranberries as much as,possible so after I get this start up,good I'm gonna put plastic wrap over the,top and I'm gonna put them in the fridge,and I'm gonna let them sit overnight and,you need to do it the day before and you,really need to let them sit overnight,for them cranberries to soak up as much,of that sugar mixture as possible so,let's get this in the refrigerator okay,guys this is the next day and we're,gonna make up our whipped cream I got,about two cups of whipped cream and,before I do my whipping cream I always,freeze my bow and my beaters I put them,in the freezer get them good and cold,because that just really helps to well,it makes your whipped cream whip up,faster so that's two cups of whipping,cream,we're just gonna,continue until we get to that spot it's,a big stage,okay took about three minutes and our,whipping cream is set up now we didn't,put any sugar in it because our sugars,already in the cranberries which you can,see the texture of it,okay let's go over our ingredients we've,got our whipping cream,we've got our pineapple tidbits of,course our cranberries with sugar on,them we've got our mini marshmallows and,pecans so let's get this salad together,it's just the cranberries and the sugar,it just makes such a pretty red color,and what that's gonna do is it's going,to make your salad a really pretty pink,that's what it's gonna do so we're going,to add our whipping cream and it really,doesn't matter which ingredient you put,first or last or whatever as long as you,get it all in there and mr. Brown and I,we really we really enjoy cold salads,like this and the first time I like this,was at school and when the teachers have,brought it and I just loved it,because I love the the tartness of the,cranberries and it just wasn't too,overly sweet,someone put 20 ounces of dried pineapple,tidbits and I've got a 10 ounce bag of,mini marshmallows and this is gonna make,a pretty big I might not have a big,enough bow,and then I've got a cup of chopped,pecans and this is optional if you're,allergic to nuts or you just don't walk,and you can leave this out so now we're,just gonna stir all this up and this it,does make quite a bit smells really good,I know you know during the holidays one,of the best things it seems like you can,take - to a holiday get-together or a,potluck or you know just anything these,salads like this really go over good,cranberries are good for you,first we know the sugars not that you,know we didn't put any sugar in the,whipped cream so that's what's going to,sweeten your whipped cream one of my,subscribers sent me a recipe for a,Dreamsicle salad like this and I'm,thinking about doing that for maybe the,Christmas holidays so if y'all like to,see that recipe just let me know in the,comments below she shared it we mean I,told her I said it sounds so good but,I'd love to do a video woman because,salads like this really go over well so,you just keep the stirring and I was,going to tell you all it took about it,took about three minutes for the whipped,cream to get to a soft peak stage,so just keep stirring to get at all,incorporated and you see how pretty how,pretty and think it already and it's,going to get a little bit of a deeper,pink once you get it all that cranberry,juice mixed up there you know when you,get this mixed up and get it in your the,bowl that you're gonna serve it in you,really want to do this the day ahead and,put it in your refrigerator because it's,goi

today's recipe has been on lint Ollie's,table for the holidays for so many years,and now she is sharing it with us this,is a holiday cranberry fluff and it's,just throwback to when your mom used to,make it mother love this we never had,holiday that we didn't have cranberry,floss she always used it as a side dish,so on the table with everything else,instead of cranberry relish okay but,it's so sweet and luscious Leland that I,think it's good enough for dessert all,right don't help me do it to help me,stir so I took three cups of raw,cranberries run some real well plant any,soft berries throw them in the food,processor and they you want to mince,them up pretty pretty good okay really,small statements now we're gonna add 3/4,cup of sugar which in that mine yeah and,three cups of miniature marshmallows,yeah one of those just real quick go,right ahead stir that up and what we're,gonna do when you get that good and,stirred we're gonna put this cover it,and put it in the frigerator overnight,and we do that because you know creamy,it's a really tart in sort of bitter so,you need to let that sugar have time to,work their way into the cranberries the,marshmallows will soften and turn a real,pretty pink and so you did that the,night before then the next day you pull,them out we're going to add other things,so this is 2 cups of apples you don't,have to peel them I used a Golden,Delicious because I wanted that green,color so that's about one whole Apple,makes two cups here's a half a cup of,green grapes that we sliced in half of,course seedless grapes let's add a half,a cup of toasted pecans and you always,want to add a little salt so that's,about an eighth of a teaspoon of salt,even if it's something sweet and being,from down your way we've got to add a,little bit of something special and even,better so we're gonna add about 2,tablespoons yeah,to taste you could do it to taste okay,then when you get that all mixed up this,is a cup of heavy whipping cream okay so,weird that I whipped to license tips or,a cup of heavy whipping cream if you'll,just fold that as I do that what be par,okay tell me what's going on right now,not a lot going on but there's still,things that they can see and do,especially between Christmas and New,Year's I wanted to tell your viewers,that if you've got the family in you,know between Christmas and New Year's,and you need something to do and they're,tired of playing around in Nashville,come to the country you guys know we're,an hour and a half south of Nashville,you can tour the distillery,it's fascinating and come to our little,town square that everyone falls in love,with they want to move there it's so,sweet but now you could take tasting,tours through the disturbing you do need,to go to the website because you make,reservations,all right so make a reservation is there,for Miss Mary billables and you have a,special guest down there for the,Christmas parade huh,you know mayoral shag as our Marshal for,the Christmas parade and she was such a,trooper it was rainy and she just sat,right through it well there's the final,product right there you can serve it as,a side dish or she's actually got it,with angel food cake so a variety of,ways there for more information about,Miss Mary Bobo's boarding house in,Lynchburg we'll put that information on,our website at news channel five.com,happy holidays and thank you you

hi guys I'm Stephanie and this is Steph,stay and today we're getting ready for,Thanksgiving as many of you are and,we're going to be making a wonderful,side that lots of people love in many,different ways and it is a cranberry,salad now many of you are accustomed to,eating cranberry sauce whether it's,whole Berry or just gel that's in the,can sliced up and now as a kid that's,what was on the table growing up that,gelled substance that was sliced and I,always wanted something different so as,I became an adult I started looking for,different recipes and experimenting with,things and I found this one and it's,just a tasty cranberry salad and super,easy to make so I wanted to share it,with you guys so with that being said,let's get started and make our cranberry,salad here we go all right to get this,cranberry salad started we've started on,the stove and we are going to use one,eight ounce container of crushed,pineapple just make sure make sure it's,eight ounces yes it is,we are going to put it in our pot with,the juices do not drain this because our,juices from our pineapple always be,careful opening these,metal Tans I know as a kid my mom oh,spent the evening in the emergency room,after opening one and it popped back on,her cut her hand really bad when I was a,little kid,I always think about that,whenever I'm open it's just opening a,can of corned beef,and remember those peeled back so we've,got our,pineapples with juice again be sure you,do not drain it and to this we're going,to add one box of raspberry Jello and,the one that I'm adding is not,sugar-free I have made this before with,sugar-free raspberry Jello because,there's plenty of Sweetness in it and if,you want to cut back on the sugar,content of your diet you're absolutely,welcome to do that and it will turn out,just fine,put that to the side,and for all of my viewers that's asked I,got some spatulas and some silicone,spatulas,I actually hurt remember many of you,asking me not to use a metal spoon which,and again I apologize for that it's just,what I'm used to when I'm at home by,myself,so I have to kind of keep in mind what's,loud for you guys and so,I cut my several this is just one of,them nice little spoon size so we are,going to mix this together real quick,and then I'm going to turn my,um eye on medium high heat because I do,want it to dissolve,completely I am not adding any water to,this so traditionally with a Jello,mixture you know you will boil add,boiled water to this or boiling water,you do not this the juice from the,pineapple will help the gelatin to,adhere together so we're going to be,sure that this is dissolved working it,for several minutes,until we get it nicely heated through,and it'll take just about a minute or so,we'll come back and we'll add our next,step to it,all right my cranberries and my,pineapple as you can see it's come up to,a just just a small bowl I did not have,it very um heavy or very rapid boiling,at this point but I just want to be sure,that everything is completely dissolved,so I've turned the heat off and I'll,make holder over here and I'll move this,to the side I am going to let it cool,for about one minute and then we're,going to continue and add the rest of,our wonderful ingredients to this,cranberry salad all right it's been,about one minute and my mixture is,cooling slightly I didn't want it so hot,when I added my next ingredient and the,next thing we're going to add is a can,of,cranberry sauce and this is if you,notice they have the cans reopened,upside down this is Ocean Spray,cranberry sauce,like this and this is whole Berry,cranberry sauce and it comes out in a,little,here that little,sound and just meant here it comes now,for many of us growing up especially if,you grew up like I did in the 70s and,the 80s you'll see this is what was on,your table right here sliced up,and boy did I remember I was thinking as,a kid what is that stuff,but it was good and I remember my,parents grandparents loved it and I just,like it with a little extra twist so I'm,going to break this up and notice it's,always a jelly like consistency it's,very easy to slice,just kind of break it apart with my,spoon and again the one that I'm using,I'll turn this upside down so you can,see it I'm using the whole Berry,cranberry sauce because I like the,chunks of berries The Cranberries,themselves,in here as well,so I'm just going to break this up mix,this up together,make sure I don't have any of these,unusual pieces in here and a little,lumps I do want to evenly distributed,blending well to incorporate the other,ingredients so you have that pineapple,which is now a nice pretty red color,thanks to that raspberry Jello and the,jello,the raspberry does not change the flavor,of this very much it just gives it a,subtle,um,sweetness to it that you're like what is,that extra flavor in there but it,doesn't compete with the Cranberries,which is nice,and it colors that pineapple beautifully,it's just a pretty dish whether it's,Thanksgiving Christ

welcome to Roosevelt homestead tomorrow,is Thanksgiving and today we are in,full-blown preparation mode and so I'm,going to share with you one of our,favorite family recipes for cranberry,cream salad and we'll get started in,just a moment,so years ago over the holidays I used my,mother's recipe for cranberry salad and,it was a very typical one where you,grind up the cranberries and you chop,apples and celery and then you put the,cranberries and the apples and the,celery in a jello mixture and add nuts,and then you cut it in squares and serve,it at the Thanksgiving table with a,little dollop of whipped cream on it and,that took a lot of prep work and so once,I started having my children and we had,a house full of kids I decided that that,salad was just too much work took too,much time and about the same time I got,this recipe from a friend and I have,adapted it just a little bit so this,salad is very easy to make it doesn't,take very much time but prep is very,easy and it sits overnight in the,refrigerator so you don't have any,last-minute preparation going on so here,are the ingredients this is one pound of,fresh cranberries that I have washed and,sorted I'm still looking in case there,are any that still need to be picked out,of here then it takes a can of crushed,pineapple now I have already put the,crushed pineapple in a strainer because,I want it draining and so that's right,here in this sink it's just about,finished and then it takes one cup of,sugar and a couple of cups of,marshmallows and lots of times I will,put in extra this is a heaping two cups,of mini marshmallows and you can put in,as many as you want,and then the matrix for all of this is,heavy whipping cream you whip the,whipping cream until it's very stiff and,you add a little bit of vanilla and I am,going to open up my this is the seal is,still in place this is pure vanilla and,this is from Kenzie's spices so pure,vanilla is not cheap and so I'm guarding,this this is like gold but I want this,lovely vanilla flavor in my salad and,then it takes a couple of tablespoons of,extra sugar for the quipping cream so to,get started we're just going to use the,food processor and we are going to chop,up the cranberries and chopping up,cranberries is a whole lot easier than,running them through a food grinder that,I used to do when I made my mother's,recipe so we're going to chop these,until they are quite fine here we go,so there are various sizes in here and,all of these sizes are perfectly okay so,I'm just going to take my scraper and,scrape these little cranberry nuts now,well this blade came out I can just put,that back in a moment put these in the,bowl and this prep takes all of about,five minutes maybe seven and we'll,finish up whips there's a reject the,rest look fine now I'm not sure that,fresh cranberries still come in one,pound packages Jim taught me these at,Costco and they were it's a two pound,package and I just weighed out one pound,this is an only get 12 ounces render is,ineffective you can do it with 12 ounces,- so the rest of the cranberries are in,here,and now we're going to dump it in the,pineapple and this is just one can of,crushed pineapple and I'm going to stir,this around with one cup of sugar and,this is the base for the salad now what,is going to happen over the next two,hours is we're just going to let this,sit out on the countertop and the sugar,will draw all of the moisture a lot of,the moisture out because the matrix is,whipped cream and we do not want that,whipped cream diluted and so we're going,to pull a lot of the moisture out and,sugar does that so I'm going to put the,lid on and just leave this right here on,the counter top and we're going to just,let it sit for two hours so we'll be,back when this is all ready and I'll,show you what to do next it has been 2,hours now and let's take a look at our,salad to see how things are going take a,look at all of this liquid so that sugar,has really pulled out a lot of moisture,from the pineapple and the cranberries,now since we don't want that moisture in,the salad I'm just going to spoon this,over into a strainer I let it drain into,the sink or just a couple of minutes,okay so well that drains here are the,other parts to the salad we have two,heaping cups of marshmallows and II feel,free to add more if you'd like so we're,gonna put those in and then in between,my other tasks during this past two,hours I whipped up the pine tips,whipping cream and I just want to show,you how stiff this is it really holds,peaks and then that my original recipe,calls for two tablespoons of sugar I,usually put powdered sugar in and I need,to put a little bit more powdered sugar,so I probably put about three heat being,not heaping heaping but three,tablespoons of powdered sugar in and so,I'm just going to spoon this right over,the top of the marshmallows,get all the cream out that I can I have,my hot bread pounds over there I just,are the dutch ovens that i sure it looks like a preschooler did it or  it won't taste very good I kind of really  ,like love the Thanksgiving evening because  I don't have to cook dinner say it with me  ,probably should have used a bigger pan welcome  back to my very favorite video of the Year  ,and that is my annual Thanksgiving  plan shop and cook with me let's go,all right guys welcome back to my channel and if  you are new welcome as well my name is Jen I'm a  ,full-time working mom I post lots of cooking and  motivation for busy people and working moms here  ,on my channel so I hope that you stick around  as well so it is time for my annual Thanksgiving  ,Video and I just checked on my channel this is  actually the fourth one that I have done so my  ,first one was in 2019 but I'm gonna share with  you what I am planning to shop for and what I'm  ,planning to make for Thanksgiving this year  I'm also going to take you inside the store  ,with me we're gonna go to ALDI and HyVee get all  of the ingredients that I'm going to share with  ,you the grocery haul and then we're gonna make  all of the food together and then I'm going to  ,show you what it all turns out out like so grab  a cup of coffee and buckle up because we have  ,got a long video ahead okay so I already sat down  and made my plan for what I am going to make this  ,year based on what I normally make and I always  like to try a few new recipes every year and then  ,I've also already communicated with the rest of  my family on what they would like to bring so  ,we're having around 12 people over and so that's  kind of the quantity of people that we're cooking  ,for as always I'm using my carry L meal planner  I'll have her site linked down below along with  ,a discount code I am not sponsored by her in any  way I just love her meal planners this is probably  ,the fifth or the sixth one that I've had and one  of my favorite Parts about it is that there is a  ,gathering section in the back of the meal planner  and this is really great for any time you are  ,planning a large holiday gathering or a birthday  party or something like that it has a section for  ,kind of all of the courses of each meal and then  it also has a hair off grocery list which you can  ,see that I've already torn off but that's not  the most important part so let's go over what I  ,am planning on making this year and oh as a side  note just when we're talking about meal planning  ,in general I did just release a meal planning  course it's called meal planning Freedom that's  ,available on my website it's a self-paced online  course so I'll also link that down below if you're  ,interested in learning more about meal planning  in general okay so for this year for appetizers  ,I always try like I said to try either one or two  new recipes that I haven't made before last year  ,I made a shrimp cocktail dip with like a cream  cheese layer and then it had cocktail sauce shrimp  ,and then you dip Wheat Thins in it which is really  good this year I decided to just make homemade  ,shrimp cocktails so Ina Garten has what allegedly  is a very good recipe for homemade shrimp cocktail  ,where you take the shrimp you roast it in the oven  and then you make a homemade cocktail sauce which  ,I've never done before so I'm I'm excited to make  that Adam's mom is going to bring deviled eggs  ,I love deviled eggs but I sometimes find that  they're kind of tedious to make especially with  ,all the other stuff I have going on and uh shocker  Adam likes his mom's deviled eggs better than mine  ,anyway so I always ask her to bring those I'm also  going to have rolls obviously now there have been  ,years prior when I have made my own homemade rolls  I've made Parker House rolls I've also just bought  ,the Rhodes dough rolls you know what I'm talking  about like the little individual rolls that you  ,let rise that's probably what I'll do again this  year because honestly they taste just as good as  ,homemade and with all of the other stuff you have  going on when you're trying to cook a Thanksgiving  ,dinner sometimes doing homemade rolls can be a  little bit uh tedious with kind of everything else  ,that's going on so I'll probably pick those up my  sister is gonna plan on bringing buffalo chicken  ,dip so I'm pretty sure everyone knows what that  is it's basically just cream cheese mixed with  ,chicken and Ranch and buffalo sauce usually eat  it with tortilla chips it's delicious I'm also  ,going to make a broccoli salad which this is my  aunt's recipe it's basically like a raw broccoli  ,salad and then you add almonds and grapes and  bacon and it's kind of got like a sweet and  ,tangy dressing by the way all of these recipes  will be either linked or typed out down below  ,try them okay so those are the appetizers for the  main course we are going to have turkey obviously  ,and ham Adam actually wanted to go ahead and smoke  the turkey this year on his smoker and I was like  ,that is just fine with me because then that's  on
