1905 SALAD!! HERITAGE RECIPE!!

hi everyone welcome back to the kitchen,the other day we made a video of the,1905 garlic vinaigrette and i promised,you we would come back today and make,the 1905 salad and that's exactly what,we're gonna do i can't wait to show you,how this all comes together,as promised,we're making the 1905 salad today in a,previous video we made this 1905 garlic,vinaigrette,and that,is made especially for this salad and i,have to tell you when i made the,vinaigrette i made my own little version,of this salad for lunch that day it was,amazing and i can't wait to share this,with you so what you're going to need is,a a nice head of iceberg lettuce nothing,else will do you have to have iceberg,just buy a whole head take the core out,and then i tore this up by hand i think,it's better to tear by hand but make,sure it's bite-sized pieces and then,what we're going to add in here this is,like i said this is one of those big,salads with lots of stuff in it so it's,really one of my favorites i have more,than a cup of um grape tomatoes that i,have had the original recipe and when,you go to the columbia restaurant in um,ybor city in tampa florida they're going,to put tomato wedges in here well i had,these and need to use them up so we're,going to use them and that's the beauty,of this salad it's super versatile and,if there's something you want to switch,up you should go for it i have about a,cup of artichoke hearts that i chopped,up they're just canned artichoke hearts,i drain them chop them up about the same,amount of green olives that are stuffed,with pimentos about a cup of julienne,swiss cheese and the same amount of,julienned smoked ham and then i have,about a quarter of a cup of grated,parmesan romano cheese that's all that,goes in here and it's fantastic now i've,looked up,um videos where they actually are making,it in the restaurant and they will make,this table side and they will serve it,to the whole table i had so many,wonderful comments from people who've,actually,lived in ybor city or in tampa near the,restaurant or one of the restaurants i,understand there's more than one and,have been able to go there and enjoy,this salad and it's just it just makes,me happy when i hear people go i grew up,every sunday we went there it and we,loved it it's just delicious i had one,person uh comment this morning that they,were colombian but their relatives were,cuban so instead of the lemon juice and,the dressing they used to use bitter,orange juice and it made more like a,moho dressing and i thought that was,fantastic now if you don't like swiss,cheese use something else if you don't,like ham use turkey or chicken but you,can switch this up to suit your own,taste or your own needs or your own,dietary restrictions depending on um,what you like to eat so we're gonna go,ahead and build this so there's our big,bowl with our lettuce,and then i'm just gonna tip in all of,these beautiful ingredients,our artichoke hearts our olives,our tomatoes and i know maybe i have a,little too many but that's okay our ham,and look if you don't want a julienne,just chop it chunk it up it's gonna be,good cube it make it make it however you,want to make it now i'm going to give,this a bit of a toss before we dress it,okay now we're gonna go ahead and give,our dressing a good shake and we're,gonna pour some on here is where this is,a big salad so it's gonna take a lot of,dressing and we toss again once you get,the dressing on it gets a little bit,easier to mix it up because everything,has you know kind of been coated with,that olive oil this smells incredible,and when i tell you that when i ate this,the other day,it was delicious there is no joking you,there it is so good,so now we're going to put in the grated,parmesan or romano if you get a blend,that's even better and we toss it again,and there you have,your delicious heritage recipe or 1905,salad i'm going to put some in a bowl,for you and i'll bring you back and we,will give it a try i will have give it a,try and i know you're gonna love it our,1905 salad all,mixed up and ready to go this smells,amazing it tastes amazing and i did want,to point out too,that this has similar flavors to a cuban,sandwich so even the ham and the swiss,cheese you've got the brininess from the,olives and as well as the dressing and,all those flavors this is kind of,emulating a cuban sandwich so i think,that's really cool,and it just has all of those flavors i,think my friend liza would be really,proud of this,so are you ready to taste it if i have,to you do so let's get you a taste with,a little bit of everything in here,there you go tell me what you think,it's really good it's a nice big,satisfying salad you can use this salad,as a meal use this as your dinner or,your lunch that's what we're going to do,we're going to have this for lunch today,you really don't need anything else,maybe some garlic bread or roll or,something but you don't even really need,that i think it would be good with some,croutons in it but that's that'

welcome back to bloom the 1905,salad is one of the most iconic salads,in america now we know it's available at,the columbia restaurant,and joining us is fifth generation,family member,andrea gonsmart williams to share this,incredible,recipe with us welcome to bloom andrea,and thank you so much for joining us in,the bloom kitchen,absolutely thank you for having me gail,this is great this salad is something,that i have been eating,since i was a little girl people have,been eating the salads,for generations here in the tampa bay,area but it's,worldwide now and how long has the salad,been served up,you know it is dates back to being on,the menu in 1975 but prior to that it,was actually a server,who had mixed it up in his house one,night combined everything after a late,shift and made this great salad and he,started coming in and serving it to our,customers,and they just loved it yes and so for,our anniversary we added it to the menu,now did it happen in 1905 and that's why,you named it that or it was a little bit,later on yeah,it has our iconic year that we were,founded and a funny story though is,actually we were founded in 1903 when we,were celebrating our 100th anniversary,a historian told us that so my father's,joke is if you get the 1905,salad without tomato it's a 1903 salad i,love it that is so cute that is great,so what makes the salad so delicious,because people might try to recreate it,at home,but there's just something about eating,it at the columbia restaurant,you know i always say the trick behind,making the dressing at home is to make,it a,day in advance because that garlic can,really marry with the olive oil and the,oregano,but if you don't want to make the,dressing you can buy some at the,columbia we have it in our retail shop,so there's lots of different options i,do i do love that you have the retail,shop,that is so cool so how do we how do we,make it easy start with iceberg lettuce,and a lot of people say iceberg lettuce,you gotta use iceberg because it really,holds up to all that dressing that we,put in there,so we're gonna build it the traditional,one has ham in it,you can get it with turkey you can get,it with shrimp olijo if you're making at,home you could put chicken in it,there's no rules swiss cheese,got our tomatoes imported,spanish olives,romano cheese you can put as little as,you want as much as you want,i always say i just eyeball yeah,that looks delicious we've got lemon,which gives it a little bit more acidity,there is already white wine vinegar,inside the dressing,but this gives it a little extra punch,then the famous dressing,olive oil white wine vinegar lots of,garlic oregano,that's basically all that's in there,really yeah oh it's such a delicious,health if you have not had this salad,you don't know what you're missing and,the wish is sure there it is,so we actually are the number one user,of liam parents wishes in the united,states i believe in the world that is so,cool,because of our salad that is so cool now,the columbia restaurant i mean you guys,get so much buzz i mean,you know i've seen you on all over,social media really picked up all these,awards and,you just continue to branch out yes,we're very proud that usa today named,our 1905 salad,one of the top 10 salads in the united,states to make a meal out of,that is so cool so many accolades about,a restaurant that really and andre is,probably so tired of me telling this,story,but our families go way back our,grandmothers were dear friends,and they were the first to bring our,family dairy milk into their restaurant,and we so appreciate that there's,there's such history there,and i think it's so amazing that you've,been able to keep history alive for so,many generations,it's relationships like that that keep,us all going today and we're so proud to,be still serving that milk in your city,that's so cool and a special nod we,had your chef in from the new santos,stefano,restaurant that is some that is,incredible i had the chance,i saw you there on a monday night it was,packed yes,and that pays homage to your people your,family all the italians that came from,santos stefano in the turn of the,century,yeah well this is great we love your,family we love you we,love this salad you can always go and,find it at the columbia restaurant and,and i definitely think shopping the gift,shop i don't think a lot i know hello everyone,and welcome to my channel bob dempster,kitchen glad you're with me again today,today,we're going to do something it is going,to be the 1905,salad dressing 1905 salad dressing,originates with the columbia restaurant,here in the tampa bay area and they've,got a number of of those restaurants,around,and uh it was,begun way back and it's no so popular,you can get it online worldwide but i'm,gonna make it for you today it's simple,and it's good it's really good so let's,get started i'm going to give you the,ingredients,right now the ingredients for the 1905,salad,are as follows we have extra virgin,olive oil,and this is spanish actually made in,spain,a little worcestershire sauce,white wine vinegar,got parmesan cheese calls for romano,usually i'm using parmesan and we've got,some oregano,we have a lemon,we have salt we have pepper we have all,of these things ready to go,so now we're going to mix it together,and we're going to show you how it works,from there,first thing we're going to put in is,one half cup of that spanish,extra virgin olive oil,then we are going to put 1 8,of a cup of the white wine,vinegar put this in here like this,just like that 1 8 of a cup,and then we are going to,add one teaspoon of salt,and i'm guessing and a teaspoon of,pepper,and a teaspoon,of oregano this is oregano,that i got from my garden and i dried it,and then we're going to take these,garlic buds we're going to chop them up,and put them in,as well i'm going to set this aside for,now,come back to it in just a second and,right now we're going to,cut up some,garlic buds get back here,all right it's good,easy way to get that shell off it's just,like that,then we're going to chop it all up,usually this recipe calls for four,garlic buds chopped my garlic buds,are quite large so i made three,three garlic butters,like this,all right that's good,we're going to put this in the bowl,set that over like that,okay all right now we're gonna add,a tablespoon of of um,worcestershire salsa my mind went blank,for a second,and we're going to mix this like this,to get an emulsion with the garlic,vinegar and the olive oil,see we're getting a nice emulsion there,gonna do that,we're going to cut it lemon,we're gonna add two tablespoons of lemon,and we're going to grate this cheese,put this back over here,i've got my great lemon juicer,we're gonna do that put that like that,let's do one more well hello there,get out of there decided to go for a,swim,all right we're ready to go here we go,guys,uh they don't call me the swedish chef,for nothing,all right and now we are going to grate,some,parmesan cheese and we're going to,probably put in a nice amount,you know three or four tablespoons,whatever shake that off like that,give this a good stir get it emulsified,again,and now we're going to just taste it see,if we got,all of the right ingredients,a little more salt,tasting good there you go put this in,the refrigerator when it's,when you're done with it put it in the,refrigerator,and it's good to go,i'll show you how to make the salad too,bye bye thank you for joining me on the,bob dempster,kitchen channel i appreciate it very,much would like for you to,hit the subscribe button and the bell,that way you'll know when the next video,is going to be coming along,so thank you for joining me this is the,1905 salad dressing,and the next video is going to be the,1905 salad,which is a little different it's you,know it's really good,and be sure and watch that video also,join me on the bob dempster channel,that's another channel that i have and,it's got,some tv appearances singing and and,acting and,and don't forget the saggy butt's pepper,sauces,and the seasoning salts we've got that,we'll put that on the end,they go good on any of these videos that,i have,made and we'll make in the future okay,thank you so much thanks for joining me,have a great day,bye,you

1905 GARLIC VINAIGRETTE DRESSING!!

hi everyone welcome back to the kitchen,today i've got a little bit something,different we're going to make this,vinaigrette it's a garlic vinaigrette,with a history also known as a 1905,vinaigrette it goes on a 1905 salad,it hails from ybor city in tampa florida,it has a cuban background and it comes,directly from the columbia restaurant in,that area so i can't wait to show you,how this all comes together,today we're going to make a garlic,vinaigrette that is sometimes known as a,1905 vinaigrette it goes on uh a 1905,salad and that salad is something we're,going to be making in a separate video,it has a very interesting history i just,learned about it recently and i knew i,had to make these for you,so,this dressing comes from the columbia,restaurant which is in,tampa florida and it's in,the ybor city,section of tampa and that has a super,rich history cuban history,i've shared some of that history with,you in other videos when we've made,cuban food such as the cuban sandwiches,and um different things that i've done,with a cuban theme,i had a very dear friend who was cuban,who,sadly passed away a few years ago and i,miss her a lot and every time i make,cuban things i think of of liza and,makes my heart happy so today we're,going to make this garlic vinaigrette,aka 1905 vinaigrette and it has a half a,cup,of good quality olive oil a half a cup,of white wine vinegar,it's gonna have four cloves of chopped,garlic,two whole tablespoons of worcestershire,sauce and i'll tell you about this in a,minute the juice of one lemon and then,all of our flavorizers we have a,tablespoon of dried oregano a teaspoon,of onion powder and a half teaspoon each,of salt and black pepper,so just like with any other dressing,you're going to,pop this,in a jar at least that's how i would,make it,you know what you guys i think i screwed,up i think you're only supposed to use a,quarter of a cup of the white wine,vinegar because that's that's how,vinaigrette is made so,a quarter cup of white wine vinegar and,a half a cup of olive oil,and then in goes the juice of one lemon,two whole tablespoons of worcestershire,i know that's like a shocking amount,and then we'll put our seasonings in,there,they say that the columbia restaurant,uses,the largest amount of lee and peren's,worcestershire sauce in the entire world,that's how much they use that's how many,of these salads they sell in a you know,in in a year so that's i think that's,one of those little factoids that's kind,of cool to know,fun fact it is a fun fact i'm just going,to give this a little bit of a stir with,my um,spatula,and then we'll give it a good shake if,you really wanted to homogenize this you,could get in here with your immersion,blender,that's a beautiful color,it's dark from the worcestershire sauce,but i want to taste it so i'm going to,grab some lettuce,and we're going to give this a taste i'm,not going to make a full-on salad but i,want to taste this on some greens so i,got myself some iceberg lettuce now,traditionally the 1905 salad is made,with um with iceberg lettuce,and they use they are not shy with the,dressing this salad,itself i can't wait to share with you,because it just has a lot of stuff in it,and i love a salad,with a lot of stuff like a big salad,like you know elaine style salad if you,guys are seinfeld fans you'll know what,i'm talking about just want to mix up a,little bit of this vinaigrette with the,lettuce and i'm going to taste it you,want to taste it,okay here you go tell me what you think,it's good subtle,is it,wow mmm,it's good it's definitely not as as,robust as i thought it would be it's,delicious though um,and very very good now look this is only,gonna get the flavor is only gonna get,better the longer it sits in your fridge,keep it in your fridge for a couple of,days and then make your 1905 salad and,we'll be back and we'll share the 1905,salad in the next video i promise that,way you'll be able to use this oh this,is really good you guys i love trying,new things i love finding like heritage,recipes like this with a history and a,story this really gets me excited,because it really helps you understand,the culture and the people of different,places so,that is my garlic vinaigrette aka 1905,vinaigrette i hope you give it a try,sometime soon and i hope you love it and,until next time i'll see,you

it's been a Florida tradition since 1905,won all kinds of awards and owned by the,sky Richard of course we're talking,about the Columbia Andreea GoM's Martin,Williams joins us now - a,fifth-generation Gon's mark and we were,talking during the break your dad likes,to leave four big chunks of time so you,guys have to fend for yourselves in the,restaurant and I asked how you felt,about that you said it's great because,it gives us a little bit of extra room,to wiggle it lets us be independent make,some decisions while he's not here and,then you cross your fingers when he gets,back he's happy you know when did you,decide did you always know that you were,gonna take over for the family business,would be a part of it no I did not,when did you tell me when I went to,college I figured I was safe to go into,business school when he got closer to,graduation I thought one - don't give it,a try yeah we'll see and then once I was,immersed in it I couldn't imagine being,anywhere else without a doubt okay so,this is the famous 1905 cell yes you,have never had it I don't know what,y'all do to this salad but it is,addicting it is addicting we're gonna go,ahead and get the salad started while,I'm getting my oil hot okay so I'm gonna,let you do it please so add our cheese,Swiss cheese that we julienne what kind,of cheese did you say Swiss cheese Swiss,cheese every Bowl it's got to be,julienne - it's something about the,julienne okay tomatoes diced and of,course all over a 1905 salad start with,iceberg lettuce a lot of people say one,is romaine I personally love iceberg it,really says how it started holds up well,to the dressing instead wouldn't any,plant builted the the hotel here in,Tampa he used to call did bring the,iceberg lettuce on the train would load,it with ice on it so there comes never,heard that I did not know that either,no more history of the 1905 salad,because this obviously goes way back,there was a a waiter that went to New,York named Tony Noriega,they came back with this idea this side,it would be mixed tableside and so he's,the one that started the Tony Salim but,in the 50s and we've changed the recipe,somewhat and we did the 1905 salad but,we credit Tony Noriega with the original,but of this salad okay we got our olives,have to be green right always so now,I've got my Spanish virgin olive oil,going with a chili pepper in it which of,course if you don't like spice you can,always leave that out and we're going to,add our gulf shrimp you actually have to,go on stove or let me sell it and that's,wonder additional salad has ham okay,this is just for the shrimp or you do,this yeah and that was gonna bring me to,my next question is that what's great,about this too you can you can add all,different types of proteins to this and,it's absolutely delicious what's the,best seller it's the ham right people,love this version of the shrimp I hear,which is probably the most popular tapa,that you can get in Spain all of our,shrimp come from the Gulf of Mexico,caught by Carson Kimbrough and his,family,so we we're one of those restaurants,very few because 85 to 95 percent of,shrimp you will eat comes from Asia but,not this okay we have about one minute,okay we're gonna add our Worcestershire,it's all about the washer I always like,to do extra wishes sure yeah our,delicious 1905 salad dressing which is a,secret no it's not there's no secret,behind it the secret behind it is making,you an advance if you want to make it at,home okay olive oil garlic oregano,that's a little lemon juice why why do,you want to make it ahead of time just,so it can also can marinate exactly do,you make it the same day it's not gonna,taste like ours and I would salad was,voted by USA Today one of the top 10,songs to make a meal out of okay now,we're gonna plate it all this is,starting to look like a 1900 really,makes a difference the pleasure of the,Wichita came here earns,came to see who this company was that,was the number one user of their product,in the world,Wow full of fun facts over here I,finished our table with a lemon juice,okay we're gonna plate back I know,I've done a few you've done this a,couple times huh oh yeah how often do,you you said you don't even eat this,that often or not that often yeah could,you get a qubit no what oh this is the,9005 dressing if you don't want to make,I'm have to make it at home I didn't,even know that you can buy that there,you go,oh and we want to mention too we forgot,to say this at the beginning of the show,when is the run this is first Friday in,November November 2nd at 7:00 p.m. start,at 6 o'clock come have fun oh and do we,know the website where you can go sign,up it's www Richards run for life dot,org there you go and if you want to head,out to the Columbia if you haven't yet I,highly recommend it check out their,website Columbia restaurant.com

hello everyone thank you for joining the,bob dempster,kitchen channel we appreciate it very,much,we're going to make the 1905 salad we,made the 1905 salad dressing,in the last video you can look that one,up and,catch that wonderful dressing and this,is going to be the 1905 salad which,comes from the colombian restaurant in,the tampa bay area,so we're going to get started we've got,all of these great,ingredients that we're going to put on,and a lot of it is typical,but there's some that isn't then that's,what gives it the flavor,all right we're gonna go down to our,ingredients right now,and we've got lettuce we've got tomatoes,these are fresh out of my garden,trimmed off a little bit got swiss,cheese,and i've got ham this happens to be like,a,black forest ham we've got green olives,here,and we've got some parmesan cheese that,we're going to shred up here,so let's get started right now first,thing i'm going to do,is julienne these,uh the ham and the cheese i'm just going,to cut it like this i actually have two,pieces,over one over the top of the other i'm,going to do this,like this,get that like that like that,then i'm going to take this turn it to,the side,cut them in half like that now i'm gonna,do the same thing,with the swiss cheese i've got two one,on top of the other,i go to the deli and i have them,done thick slice i like it thick,if you buy them just in the bag you know,they're always the same,thickness so i get it there but you do,what you want doesn't matter as long as,you got swiss cheese,okay we're cutting these into a julienne,style as well like this,and then we're going to cut them in half,like we did,the hand like that,turn this around like this,put those in like that we're going to,put these to the side,now we're going to take some lettuce and,we are going to cut some lettuce up put,the tomatoes to the side here give me a,little more room,cut some of this off,fresh lettuce just got it looks,great,and depending on how much salad you want,i could cut it with a knife,a lot of times i will do that but as,probably you know you by taking a knife,what happens is if,you leave in the refrigerator for a,little bit it starts to turn,yellow brown,whatever color that is okay,we're just gonna leave it right at that,for now,and we're gonna just rough chop this,like this,oh this is a good sound that is,for sure rough chop,okay oops all right we're gonna put this,in the salad bowl,put this all in here and i might have to,make a little more salad because in my,family,we have four of us and what i make,for the youtube we usually have it for,dinner,you know what this is a small head i'm,going to cut this,a little bit like i said i didn't like,to do,but it has a pretty small head i don't,know why,it's so small i looked at them they were,all small so that was the best we could,do,that's fine but this is good,all right,lettuce in the bowl like that we're,going to take the juliennes,got the ham and the cheese,then we need to cut up some tomatoes,here we go with the tomatoes,nice fresh these are,from my garden you know it's hard to buy,them in the store,that really tastes good look how red,these are,they are so good just started,ripening this is right now,i'm doing this video and it's in march,i think it's the 7th of march and here's,another one another,tomato plant a different one,like that okay,put that in there now,we are going to take green olives,this is a fantastic addition,to the 1905 salad that's probably all,we're going to use right there and then,we're gonna take,some parmesan cheese put that on here,freshly grated if you don't have fresh,parmesan cheese oil just get your other,whatever you want the powder but this is,what you're gonna do,it's a nice fresh parmesan,cheese like that put this up here,and i'm gonna get,a i'm going to get the salad,spoons they call this thing,oh yeah oh yeah,a great fantastic salad believe me,it really is then you take a dressing,that i just made check it out on the,last video,and you put it on there it's got fresh,lemon,fantastic,thank you so much for joining my channel,i appreciate it,very much bob dempster kitchen make sure,that you subscribe to that hit the bell,and and check all these,wonderful dishes out there really great,don't forget,my saggy butts pepper sauces and saggy,butt seasoning salt here really,good put them right and put that,seasoning salt right on this,salad and it would absolutely,up the flavor i promise you that,thank you very much and have a good day,we'll see you in the next video,you

hey y'all,i'm hannah and i'm jeremy and we are the,savory suitcase and this is restaurant,remake,yes it is so yesterday we went to the,columbia,and got a nice uh pickup,option so it was great you just call,ahead you place your order,and then they have multiple curbside,spots that you can pick,pull up you park um they have cameras so,they know when you're there they come,out,and just you don't have to get out of,the car yeah it's excellent it was a,great experience i would highly,recommend it,so we originally planned to get our,takeout and,maybe like head to a park or find like a,picnic bench somewhere in ebore,um but it was pouring by the time we,actually picked up our order,so see that footage here yes it was,rough,that was a bad storm so we actually,ended up just going home and having a,little taste of it but we did drive,through eboard just now to kind of get,some shots of the area just because it's,a really historic,you know kind of local tampa favorite,they have,it's very historic i mean really his,historic tampa yeah it is,it is the history of tampa a lot of the,cigar shops,down there still um the old all the old,buildings are original,the cars lots of roosters,yeah we saw the roosters that's the wild,roosters they just run,and you they were really singing the,song of their people this,talking morning i'm gonna hear your,responses,that one sounds sick oh it's a little,squeaky,the rona very chatty this morning it was,nice,so we had our columbia at home and uh,had a really nice experience even though,you know the atmosphere of the columbia,is really one of the better parts of the,dining experience so yeah you really,i mean you know the prices are a little,bit they're a little steep uh,columbia is not not an inexpensive,choice but um,yeah you really do definitely pay for,for the experience,uh and the ambiance of the restaurant,and i'm really looking forward to,remaking it i think it's going to be,simple but i think it's one of those,restaurants where food is simple,but sometimes that can be more difficult,than more elaborate food,if that makes sense sometimes that's,just you know the really fresh,ingredients,and you're really relying on the actual,food itself too,you're relying on the ingredients to to,actually speak for the food and actually,and that's,personally for my philosophy that's what,i believe i believe,in not over complicating things and,keeping things simple,and just using simple fresh local where,you can,i think that makes the best food i don't,think you always need 100 ingredient,ingredients to make something tasty you,know i think,three four things and you can really,when everything shines together i think,you can really make something good,you know looking at the recipe for like,the salad dressing on the 1905,ingredients for the black bean soup it's,like what five things,it's incredible i had no idea i would,have assumed it would have been,you know something insane but,yeah good stuff so we'll see you back at,our kitchen,all right we're back in our home kitchen,and i have given jeremy the assignment,of recreating these recipes so the,really cool thing,is that the columbia actually just has,their recipes,online so there was no guessing there,was no,googling to try and find a duplicate,recipe,we're just gonna take it straight from,the masters well for those of you that,don't really know a lot about the,columbia restaurant group,it's a very tampa thing it's a very,florida thing in general,there's only a couple of different,locations of the columbia restaurant the,original being ibor city which is in,downtown tampa,there used to be a location at the old,um the old saint pete pier,there's one down in st armin circle in,sarasota so there's really only a few,and they're kind of all in this bay area,they call it in tampa,um so it's very old school um started,back in 1905. that's why they call that,the salad the 19. the 1905 salad,they also do a really cool thing um,called 1905,day and that's a super popular thing,we've never ventured out because it's,just always it always brings tons of,people,and it's just wild but what they do is,once a year they roll back their pricing,to what it was in 1905 so you can get,things like,um the this black bean and soup for like,two bucks or something crazy,not even that like five cents yeah cup,of,so it's just a fun thing and it's a good,way to go try it out um their normal,everyday prices are a little bit,steeper than that you get to treat,yourself kind of it is you know you go,you get the flamenco dancer they do like,a special show,um so it's a really neat place i highly,suggest if you're in tampa you can't,miss it,but you know if you need to get a little,taste of it while you're kind of,held up at home it's a good warm day,meal it's a good light lunch,it's good for a light lunch or even a,light dinner um,so yeah so the first thing that we're,gonna start doing before i kick her out,of here,so we've actually gone another day another salad we made a,delicious one last time and this one is,of spanish origin it's called the,columbia 1905 salad yeah it's actually a,super famous salad from a restaurant,called columbia they are down in florida,they have a very spanish type of,restaurant it is so delicious but this,salad is made table side everybody loves,it,so actually carl torp's wife called me,and she was like or texted me and said,hey have you ever tried this out and i,was like i have i said my nephew,actually works there oh nice yeah so he,taught you how to make it well i just,have been watching really close all,these years table side you've been,watching yeah watching so here we're,going to go so we're going to start with,a head of iceberg lettuce so this is my,trick to take the center out okay let's,watch and learn,uh-huh,that felt good too it's at the same time,it really did sis,look it comes right out okay just like,that's so easy so what you're going to,do is you're going to take this and,you're just going to tear it into,bite-sized pieces if there's like the,ugly outers i just kind of set aside,okay so what we're going to do then is,the salad is very simple it is iceberg,lettuce that has been torn apart it's,one tomato that is sliced and quartered,it is let's see here some spanish olives,and then the meat part of this is swiss,cheese cut julienne is the fancy way but,that means cutting into little sticks,just like that so it's a great way to,use up,any like if you have like grilled,chicken that would be good in there if,you have sandwich meat that you think is,kind of over its prime use that ham they,do it with turkey i've seen it with,shrimp,they do it with everything but the,secret here is the,salad dressing so what i've got here is,i've got an eighth cup,of champagne or white wine vinegar okay,do not use just plain a white vinegar,it's got to be a wine vinegar,then i've got a half a cup of olive oil,four cloves of garlic,we're going to put one teaspoon of,ground,oregano,a little salt and a little pepper so,we're gonna add a little bit of salt and,again you can just taste this afterwards,make sure you like it,if you need more salt or more pepper to,your taste,and then some fresh cracked pepper goes,in there,so,they take this they usually just whisk,it tableside i do this and just shake it,up sure but what we're going to do bobby,step this yeah let's go put the rest in,there okay tear tear tear i didn't know,how big we were going on this side i'm,making this all the way let's go all the,way all the way we go,good job okay,otherwise it's gonna be really drippy so,we're gonna put in some olives some,green spanish olives we're going to,throw in some tomatoes okay,and so when they make this tableside,they'll come by,they go ahead and they'll put in,the ham and the swiss,and this is what i love the guy shows up,worcestershire sauce yes he does this,and everybody looks skeptical yeah,they're like what are you doing and he,does this put that all over it,and then he'll pour the dressing on top,and then he'll follow it up with romano,cheese that's grated all over it,it is next level delicious you toss it,together and i promise this will be your,family's new favorite kind of summer,quick go-to salad i cannot wait to try,this especially with that dressing in,that yummy and you don't put the,worcestershire in it it's a separate,deal no it's for whatever reason i don't,know why but that's how they do it how,they do it so we'll replicate okay,sounds great easy salad cool night easy,dinner happy summer
