we got a cuisinart frozen yogurt ice,cream and sorbet maker,the 1.5 quart we're gonna go ahead and,make us some chocolate ice cream really,quick,it's pretty simple to do,first you go ahead get a mixing bowl,so two cups of heavy,cream,one and a half cups of milk,one half cup of sugar,this is the important part if you want,chocolate ice cream,otherwise you just,omit the chocolate,and this is,unsweetened,cocoa powder,and you'll want half a cup of that,and,some vanilla extract,we get ours from costco so we get the 16,ounce container of the pure vanilla,so we'll put in one teaspoon of this,and now you mix it up really well,until the sugar's dissolved,and with these cuisinarts,the bowl you keep it in the freezer for,24 hours,so it freezes solid,it's got a gel inside of it that you,want to,get very cold,then you put the ingredients into that,and put it in the mixer and you let it,run for 20 minutes,and in 20 minutes you should have some,soft freeze ice cream,which you can either eat then or put it,in the freezer to harden it up a little,bit here's the bowl nice and cold it has,a little,slotted hole in the bottom that fits in,the slots on the bottom of your,the power unit,then you just go ahead and put your,product inside,and this little piece right here goes,inside,the lid right there here's the top,and you set it down in there it's got a,little pin right there to,lock it down,now we're going to go ahead and plug,this in and get it started,all right,once you get it started the,drum sits there and spins and the blade,sits still because the top is holding,that still,and it is mixing,all right we'll give it 20 minutes and,we'll check back,we are now at 20 minutes let's go ahead,and check that out,oh there we go,look at that,yummy nice soft freeze ice cream,simple as that let's go ahead and,shut it down and pull it apart,look at that,delicious,you got some nice soft freeze ice cream,right there,all right thanks for watching

hey everybody it's brad and i'm krista,with the big family homestead and today,is a good day,because well you probably know already,because if you read the title of the,video you'd know but if you didn't you,would know that we're making ice cream,homemade vanilla ice cream,it's well yeah,homemade vanilla ice cream it's super,super easy and super delicious there are,five ingredients here and it will only,take about 10 minutes well 10 minutes of,the actual muckety milk part then the,machine does the rest,and actually if you don't have a machine,do not despair i will tell you later how,you can achieve this creamy,deliciousness,sans machine,okay for ingredients we're talking super,basic stuff you've got three cups of,heavy whipping cream you got one cup of,milk you've got one cup of sugar,two count them teaspoons of vanilla and,just a dash of salt now we're using this,pink himalayan salt um you can use,whatever salt you like we just kind of,like the the health benefits of it but,you can use table salt that's fine and,dandy now to use an automatic ice cream,churn you will need an ice cream turn,boom you will need some ice and also ice,cream salt so what we're going to do is,we're going to go ahead and put our uh,sugar,and our milk,into this pot and we're going to go,ahead and stir this around until this,gets dissolved you need to heat that on,a low heat this on low and what we're,going to do then is we're going to when,this is dissolved we're going to go,ahead and add our cold cream to it so,that brings down the temperature of the,milk and sugar rather quickly,i almost forgot we're going to go ahead,and add a pinch of salt to this too,now as mama is using her delightful,fingers to stir,the soon-to-be deliciousness figured i'd,take a second to tell you the non ice,cream maker method when you want if you,wanted to make the ice cream but you,don't have one of these like i said do,not despair,do not have a fit all you need is a 13x9,baking pan you know regular like cake,pan casserole,casserole dish,and when you've got your your uh mix,ready to go you're gonna put it into,that pan stick it in the freezer and,you're gonna come check it about every,20 minutes because what you're going to,do is as the edges start to freeze you,just take and mix it up mix it up mix it,up put it back into the freezer check it,again 20 minutes,and mix it up mix it up mix it up do,that about four or five times so it's,incorporated really nice,and then poof you're ready for the long,freeze but,um we're going to show you our other,method here because it's a lot more fun,and i get to play with the hardware,so now we've been going about this for,about two to three minutes and our,sugars are just about dissolved,almost,looking sweet,all right so now all the sugars are,dissolved we're gonna go ahead and add,our vanilla and our uh cream which i,take this off the burner here i don't,want it too hot,two teaspoons in you go whoops gotta,open that brand-new,what,there it's a wardrobe malfunction,waiting to happen i had to use my,fingernail,hopefully there's enough,yeah,all right cream,i'm gonna add that kind of slow,all right now we've got our semi well,mostly cooled down,deliciousness ready to go into our pot,there,and,depending on the ice cream maker you may,have it kind of get tricky to kind of,put it all together but if you learn,which way that your machine works best,then you got the top it makes it a lot,easier because these things slip around,on you,and you got to get it exactly right in,the middle,or else,the ice melts funny and you don't want,funny melting ice,now i'm gonna load the ice into the,bucket but here's a little trick we,learned a long time ago,these things make a mess,you don't want to do it on the table,in in to be honest where we usually do,it it's not really good for video so,we're not going to do it there but we,usually do it in the bathtub,not while anyone's showering that makes,for a whole new kind of mess,but we're going to go and put this in,the sink yep all right so the trick to,loading this,is not having enormous chunks of ice,like that,but,making sure you put a layer of ice,that way the salt has a chance to,melt some of that ice,and that chemical reaction is what,lowers the temperature that's what's,going to make the ice cream work,it's not big enough it's just ridiculous,oh my gracious,now what you're going to want to do is,let this go for about an hour making,sure that your ice level stays above the,mix in the container and just keep an,eye on it just watch it make sure,everything's going good and everything's,spinning smooth and,once it starts to slow down then it's,ready to go in the freezer,so now we've waited our time and we now,have ice cream,ice cream you scream we all scream for,ice cream,in the grand reveal,look at that,my oh my that looks darn near as good as,you baby,look at that,yummy it's time for ice cream yay,ladies and gentlemen feast your things like chocolate chips your kids,favorite candy bar chunked up you can,add in these little cream cookies the,sky's the limit with this machine you,got a good at home and try it because,usually ice cream makers are well over,$100 yes they are and they're big and,they're loud and they're kind of,time-consuming this is Kelly,did I read right 15 to 25 minutes and,I'm done,minutes from now you hello and today I'm going to be using,the Hamilton Beach ice cream maker,it holds one and a half quarts and I,bought this at Walmart,now I've already used this once before,it recommends don't not using any more,than four cups of liquid at one time I,actually used about three cups and or,three cups in a quarter last time and it,was spilling over the sides a little bit,so today I've measured out exactly two,cups of liquid that I've put in here I,had my custard base that I just added,the heavy cream into in the vanilla,extract and last time I did vanilla but,today since I have some fresh,strawberries I blend it up some,strawberries and I'm not really sure,exactly how much to add but I'm just,going to add one thing I'm just going to,pour in a little bit just eyeball on,this I looked at a few different recipes,online but yeah I don't know we're so,different and she's kind of I want to,see what I could come up with,oops that almost too much it doesn't,matter um I'm assuming now I got about,probably about two and a half cups of,liquid over to 3/4 cup and now I'm going,to go get the UM the base that you,freeze um I put the base in there's a,picture on here oh I'll give it a second,but anyways I put it in the freezer for,over 24 hours just because I've read,online that some people their liquids,just didn't work I didn't it didn't,freeze very well so I put it in it's,actually been in there for a week,now but um once I get that on here I'm,going to pour my liquid in so it's,pretty important that as soon as you get,the base out of the freezer,it's a lot smaller than I thought,anyways there it is okay so um this is,the frozen face thing um it's very cold,anyway so put this in for Brasher thanks,what's called snap this in place,football now we're ready to go now I'm,going to turn it off got my mixture,slowly period,complained about the noise,I mean it's like,now I'm just gonna set a timer for 40,minutes even though it says it can take,two minutes,so it's already,was actually the first term that every,used in this room,never used to be there,okay so it hasn't even,and it's already getting really clear,- no,always make sure you like,is very good,they say,this is actually the being,that's actually perfect,as you can see it's a one size and even,been ten years,make sure this start,without anything,like strawberry mix is perfect,um this recipe I use out of the Hamilton,Beach little booklet it came with this,old-fashioned vanilla ice cream is what,I used but I did this recipe last time,and I thought it was just it wasn't as,creamy as it could have been so this,time instead of two eggs I added one,whole egg and then three egg yolks and I,only added a half a cup of sugar it's a,3/4 cup because I thought it was just,too sweet last time and it's pretty much,the only thing I did differently then I,just split up this batch right here I,split it up and put half of it in this,bowl and then did I can't really tell,I don't know how maybe half a cup of,strawberry puree and I did I did a,little bit sure and there just because,that's what some recipe said to do but,anyway I'm going to take this off you,know oh my gosh it's very thick it,wasn't like this last time,so did really well I'm actually pretty,shocked at how fast it turned into ice,cream so we can see it looks like looks,pretty good so what I'm going to do now,um I'm going to get a container so now,I've um skipped it into my little,container here and make myself a little,Bowl so that's pretty good,tastes a lot like normal strawberry ice,cream and I love these little glass lock,containers because and you snap it,anyways you snap the ends down and it's,seal completely it's freezer safe I just,really like these so yeah now I'm going,to try to do an experiment and see if,it's still cold enough to make another,batch

Homemade Vanilla Ice Cream the Old-Fashioned Way

hey everyone today I'm going to show you how to make homemade vanilla ice cream,it's my family's favorite recipe and we've made it for as long as I can,remember since I was a little girl my grandma and grandpa made it my mom and,dad made it and I'm gonna show you how to make it using an old-fashioned ice,cream maker not really the turn kind but the electric kind,all right for ingredients you're going to want 6 large eggs 1 1/4,cups sugar I'm using pure cane sugar you can also use granulated sugar 4,teaspoons of vanilla extract 14 ounces or 1 can of sweetened condensed milk 24,ounces or 2 cans of evaporated milk a teaspoon of salt and then whole milk and,the milk is going to finish filling up your canister after you've poured the,rest of the mixture in usually it amounts to about 6 cups of whole milk,now you can also use half-and-half in place of the whole milk if you want an,even creamier texture to your ice cream totally up to you we just always go with,milk cuz that's what we have on hand I want to talk to you about the eggs,before we get started mixing so I'm using 6 large eggs and I'm using our,chicken eggs so I'm not too worried about them but if you are worried about,your eggs you have two options you can either use pasteurized eggs or you can,heat up your eggs with your evaporated milk to a temperature of about 160,degrees and then cool them back down before you mix up your ice cream that,will hopefully lessen your risk of having any problems with the eggs in,the recipe but for as long as I can remember my family has always just,thrown the eggs in and mixed it up so that's what I'm gonna do for this video,we're gonna start by creaming the eggs and the sugar together with a mixer so,that's 6 large eggs and then I'm gonna add one and a quarter cups of sugar and,then we're gonna go ahead and mix that up really well,now we're gonna add in the four teaspoons of vanilla extract then you're,gonna add in one can or fourteen ounces of sweetened condensed milk make sure,you take a spatula and scrape out all the inside so that you get all of that,sweetened condensed milk,then we're gonna go ahead and give that another good mixing now we're gonna add,both cans of evaporated milk so that's two cans for 24 ounces of evaporated,milk then we're gonna add a good dash of salt it's probably about a teaspoon of,salt to our ice cream and then we'll mix that up together again we're just gonna,pour that mixture into your canister,make sure you scrape your bowl out to get all the liquid out of your bowl,we're gonna fill the canister about 3/4 of the way up altogether we're gonna go,ahead and finish filling it with milk and somewhere down in your canister,you'll have a fill line ours happens to be right about there so I'm gonna go,ahead and fill up to there with whole milk and again you can use half and half,if you want a creamier texture to your ice cream but we usually have milk on,hand so that's what I'm using all right,okay that gives you a room at the top for the ice cream to expand because it,freezes our paddle is already in there we've switched places and we have our,big ice cream tub here we're gonna go ahead and put our canister down in the,ice cream maker filled canisters ready to go once you have it all situated then,you can just go ahead and put your lid on,now we're gonna go ahead and put the motor on the ice-cream maker,situate it once you have it situated then you can take your latch if your,ice-cream maker has that and fasten it in place and you're all set to add ice,and rock salt and freeze your ice-cream let's talk about the rock salt as well,the rock salt is something that I've gotten a lot of questions about and I've,had people actually try to make this ice cream and I don't know if they didn't,use rock salt they either used kosher salt or regular table salt they didn't,have the right thing so rock salt is usually something you buy for your,driveway to keep to help with ice when it ices out to help melt the ice but,rock salt is like this grey it's gray and it helps your ice cream to freeze,that's the key so you want to make sure that you use actual rock salt now where,can you get this yes you can buy a small box on Amazon you can probably even buy,a small box at your grocery store or at Walmart but the secret to getting more,of it and cheaper is to go to a hardware store or a feed store and you can get a,great big bag of it it'll last a lot longer and it's a lot more affordable so,that's the secret to getting rock salt just make sure that you use rock salt to,freeze the ice cream as for the ice we've got a great big bag of ice from,the gas station or from the ice station actually but and what we do is we go out,on the porch and we'll hammer it around just a little bit to break up all the,big pieces of ice and make it smaller so it works better in our freezer now if,you can't get a big bag of ice right now you can take gallon jugs or soda jugs,two liter jugs juice jugs and you can fill them with water free
