hello and welcome to soul food cooking,today I'll be making slow cooker beans,you will need 1 20 ounce package of 15,bean soup mix 1 12 ounce package of,andouille sausage 1/2 pound of chicken,breasts 4 cups of chicken stock 2 cups,of water 1 cup of onion 2 cloves of,garlic 2 stalks of celery 1 teaspoon of,onion powder 1 teaspoon of garlic powder,1 and 1/2 teaspoons of kosher salt and 1,teaspoon of black pepper slice the into,a sausage and chicken into small pieces,then set them aside,place the chicken in the slow cooker,then season with the onion powder garlic,powder salt and pepper now add your,sausage and dry beans add the celery,onion and garlic then pour in the water,and chicken stock,mix all the ingredients well then cover,and allow it to cook on high for four,hours after four hours turn off the heat,then it is ready to serve this is one of,my favorite went to recipes that's easy,to make and tastes great I really hope,you give it a try thanks for watching,and don't forget to subscribe to soul,food cooking,that's okay,you

here's how to make cheap soup in a crock,pot so ham beans is 3.49 at the grocery,store i got the cajun version which is,not too spicy it tastes real good so i,like the seasoning on that one you're,gonna need the juice of half a lemon,you're gonna need crushed tomatoes i'm,using,28 ounces but some people use half that,use the smaller can depends on how much,you love tomatoes two celeries one onion,one red pepper i'm putting jalapeno in,it for extra spice the equivalent of two,carrots all i have is baby carrots so,it'll do a little turmeric a little,pepper a little salt and then somebody's,eight ounces of farmer john uh raw,classic pork sausage and the sausages,are 2.49,so all this stuff combined,is less than 10 bucks so this is cheap,poor people soup if you serve it with,rice you even get more mileage out of it,so,you'll want to rinse the beans a few,times in water before you put them in,the pot um using a strainer and then a,bowl full of water like this is an easy,way to do it see it's dirty down there,so the vegetables look like this i think,a little too oniony but i didn't use the,whole onion that's about three quarters,of an onion and then i also added a,little garlic i forgot to mention,earlier for extra flavor,so all this goes in the pot with the,beans,to cook for seven hours,and i've chopped up the sausages into,little pieces and there's a lot of,grease these are pretty fatty so all of,that gets dumped into the pot,greasy,there we go that's where the secret,flavor comes from,note at this point i have not put the,tomatoes in there those go in at the end,and then i have not put any seasoning in,there either so all of that gets done at,the end also the lemon juice goes in at,the end,so now we add eight cups of water now,this at this point you'll be wishing you,had the big crock pot if yours is a,medium like this one so this barely fits,in here so i might have to short water,it but eight cups of water is what you,want then,mix it up real nice,throw a lid on it,then you're going to want to set it to,the highest setting,and then you wait seven hours,seven hours later it looks like legit,soup,at this point you want a season to taste,does not need a whole lot of salt like,there's,there's enough salt and whatever else we,did to this probably in the sausages but,so we're going to put some turmeric in,there,a little black pepper generic canadian,cajun seasonings,add the maters if they'll fit let's see,if they'll fit,tight fit up we're up to the brim with,tomatoes,and the ingredients call for half a,lemon whatever you reckon half a lemon,is,dump it in there,stir it up and you got dinner,that's it 10 soup,you

hi i'm helen from helpers pennsylvania,cooking and today it's going to be a,make it easy Monday meaning I'm gonna do,a crock-pot recipe and this is one of,Mike's favorites this is ham and bean,soup now he likes us having bean soup,nice and simple that's what this one is,nice and simple few ingredients not hard,to put together at all crock-pot does,all the work some of the Hammond bean,soups I know of that other people do and,there's some really good ones have,mashed potatoes in it have tomatoes in,it tomato sauce,different people different regions make,it different ways but this is the way,that Mike likes it pretty simple so I'll,show you what goes into it I have some,dried great northern beans and I'm gonna,soak them overnight I'll show you how I,do that I have a couple ham hocks I have,some leftover ham that I'm gonna just,chunk and put in with it some onion some,very finely diced carrots and potatoes,and some ham bass if I need it,if I don't get enough flavor out of the,ham hocks which I doubt is gonna be the,case because we're good smoked ham hocks,I'll add some ham bass and this is the,better than bullion ham bass but more,than likely I probably won't need it,so the first thing I'm gonna do is soak,my beans overnight now you want to put,them I just put them in the crock pot,and I'll drain them off tomorrow but I,just want to show you you want to make,sure that your beans are well covered I,have about an inch of water on top of,them because as they soak they'll absorb,up that water as they rehydrate so I'm,going to let those go overnight so that,my soup can go on in the morning and,just kind of sit there and slow cook,with those ham hocks all day so it's the,next morning they've sat overnight just,soak you can see they're all clumped up,used up most of the water I'm going to,rinse these off so you get all that,extra starch and the water out and then,I'm going to return the beans to the,crock pot and then we're going to throw,in our ham hocks,now all I've done is put my beans back,and add in my chopped onion because I,want that to get in that broth and slow,cook and my ham hocks and made sure the,ham hocks are covered and then I'm going,to put my crock pot on high to get it,warmed up and then turn it back to slow,low and let that cook throughout the day,and let this all get tender and all that,marry in and the meat will be tender and,come off the ham hock bones we will not,add our vegetables until much further,along because we don't want our carrots,and potatoes to get mushy,she's aw look at that he's just coming,right off the bone so I'm going to,remove my ham hocks and then I'm gonna,cut up the meat and then I'm gonna add,the last of our ingredients in and I'm,adding just a couple more because you,just you got to have that flavor,and then my deboned meet I took off the,skin and got the bones out I'm going to,add a large diced potato and I had some,leftover ham so that's going in and some,thyme and some parsley and a little bit,of diced carrots and you can add celery,some people add oregano some people add,some liquid smoke I am gonna add a,little bit of ham base to give it a,little bit more depth and this is the,better than bouillon ham base and I'm,just going to stir that in get that,incorporated and one more ingredient,just a dash of this,to me that does the job of what the,smoke would do and like I said some,poppy a Dutch way they do add mashed,potatoes and the P a dutch version Mike,likes it better without mom I like with,mashed potatoes in though but everybody,does a little bit differently and this,is just down to a mine now I'm gonna,stir this all in cover it back up and,let it go for a couple more hours well I,think she's already the vegetables are,tender and look at all that good ham,goodness you know what comes next,I'll dust up and ready to go so here it,is,I just gave a close-up for it now the,moment of truth chunks of ham potato and,beans,pleasure,that's gonna be even better tomorrow,that's it's overnight that stuff is,gonna be outrageous it's really good and,put the smoked ham hocks no salt you,don't add any salt you don't need to,it's plenty and I've seen some recipes,even call for msg and stuff it's like I,can't even believe believe that that's,awful but this this is really good you,know this isn't my favorite soup but,this is really good and it wouldn't be,complete without some good crusty bread,because I like it with the broth,mmm talk about something good in the,cold weather to stick to your ribs this,is it so you saw how easy that was not,that many ingredients crock-pot did all,the work you just set it and forget it,and you cut a really wonderful warm,hearty bowl of soup so now you know what,to make during that next cold snap and,snowstorm cuts and when it's not over,yet,enjoy,you like what you saw like subscribe and,join me next time here in how this,Pennsylvania cooking

today I want to share with you the best,bean with ham soup recipe that's easy to,make and delicious hi sweet friends I'm,Mary and welcome to Mary's Nest where I,teach traditional cooking skills for,making nutrient-dense foods like bone,broth ferments sourdough and more so if,you enjoy learning about those things,consider subscribing to my channel and,don't forget to click on the little,notification bell below that will let,you know every time I upload a new video,today for this recipe I'm going to be,using the beans that come in this,package labeled 15 bean soup it's very,common and you probably see it at your,grocery store now I'm not gonna use the,little packet of ham flavor that comes,with the beans that I'm definitely gonna,set aside I'm not even quite sure what's,in there instead I'm gonna use a ham,hock that's gonna give wonderful flavor,now if you don't have a ham hock don't,worry you can use some cut-up ham if,you've recently baked to him and you,have some leftover that'll work great,also if you have a big piece of ham that,you've purchased at the deli section,done this other big piece but enough,that would be about a pound from your,deli you can cut that up into little,cubes and use that and if you want to,forego the ham you can of course just,you make this into a bean soup or you,can add some variations you could add,cut-up hot dogs,you could add sausage there's so much,this is very flexible and it really,comes out delicious every time now if,you can't find that 15 bean mix don't,worry you can use any type of bean that,you like you just want to make sure that,you start with 1 pound of dried beans,but I love this bean mix because I just,think it's so lovely it's just so,colorful and it's so nice to have this,variety but if you want to use all the,same beans you can if you want to make,your own mixture you can certainly do,that now these beans have been soaked,and there are different schools of,thought on whether people like to soak,beans or not soak beans and these have,been soaked actually for 48 hours which,I discuss why I do that,the video which I'll link to but I know,there's very different opinions on this,do you want to soak overnight do you,want to soak for 24 hours 48 hours do,you want to soak in plain water do you,want to soak in salted water do you want,to put in a pinch of baking soda,whatever the case may be,prepare your beans the way that you're,most comfortable and with though and the,way in which agrees with you I like to,soak my beans for 48 hours in plain,water and then I will rinse them during,the course of that for 48 hours to,refresh the water,I've also soaked them in brine in,advance of cooking them and again for 48,hours and rinsing the water and re,brining and then just making sure I give,them a good rinse before I get ready to,cook them I don't use any baking soda,and I explained that in detail in the,other video where I talk about beans and,the reason is I'll just mention it,quickly is that some scientists have,found that baking soda can sometimes,leach the B vitamins out of beans so I,just leave it out but if you have found,which I've learned from in the comments,on that other video that putting in that,little bit of baking soda makes the,beans more agreeable for you makes them,more digestible whatever the case may be,feel free to do that but if you decide,that you don't soak beans at all you can,still make this recipe it's just that,the cooking time is a little longer,which I'll go over when we get to that,part so let's go over the rest of the,ingredients so as I said you're going to,need a pound of dry beans that are,either dry and ready to be cooked or,have been soaked overnight or longer,you're going to want some type of fat to,cook your onion in your garlic in I like,to use ghee I find it works very well,and it's unlikely to burn because if it,doesn't have the milk solids in it but,if you want to it's a form of clarified,butter if you want to use butter you,certainly can and you can add a little,olive oil to help prevent some of those,milk solids from burning you can use,coconut oil you can use avocado oil any,oil or fat that you like to use that,works well in a situation where you're,going to be sauteing lurid would be,fabulous and whatever fat you're going,to,is all you're gonna need is two,tablespoons and then you're gonna want,one onion and we're gonna slice that,we're gonna dice this up I'm just using,a yellow onion use whatever you have and,then I'm gonna add two cloves of garlic,by all means add as much garlic as you,want next and this is optional you can,add some type of seasoning base that you,like especially since we're not going to,be using that little ham flavored packet,that comes with the beans in the package,and this is something you definitely,want to keep in mind if you're just,using your own dried beans and or making,your own mixture I've got one teaspoon,here of chili powder and welcome to brand-new vegan and this is,Chuck and today we are making some chili,some crock-pot chili and it is so easy,and so good and you're gonna love it and,this is brought to you by my friends at,Hearst and beans those little bags of 15,bean soup mix that's what we're gonna,use and it makes one of the most,incredible chilies you've ever tasted so,here we go we got some ingredients,coming up got that little bag of 15 bean,soup you can find those at most grocery,stores we have some simple veggies some,garlic de spice mix I'll have all the,ingredients in the recipe below that's,the chili powder I use McCormick people,ask me that all the time,we've got some veggie broth some,tomatoes some tomato paste and of course,we've got our crock pot so the rest,start by opening up that little bag of,15 bean soup we're gonna dump our beans,into a colander where I take that little,seasoning packet set it aside for now,we're gonna pick through the beans make,sure there's no rocks or twigs or,anything weird in there and give them a,good rinse,into the crock pot they go and go the,onions green bell pepper red bell pepper,this is a jalapeno you can leave this,out if you'd like and some garlic then,give that quick stir these are dried,beans by the way no soaking required,we're gonna take an entire carton of veg,broth I use the low-sodium and goes the,veg brought the entire carton then we're,gonna add about 3 cups of water pretty,easy so far huh,there's 2 cups and our third cup,in goes the will seasoning packet from,the bag of beans and goes our own spices,again all the ingredients will be in the,link below give all that a good stir put,on the lid plug in your crock pot turn,it on high and walk away,this is it about four hours five hours,later you come back give everything a,stir make sure the beans are nice and,soft and I did a little test right there,it should be nice and nice and soft and,throw a little bit crunchy just let them,cook a little bit longer now we can add,our tomatoes and our tomato paste if you,add the tomatoes at the beginning of,this the acidity from the tomatoes will,hurt in the beans and make them really,tough they take forever to cook so add,your tomatoes will last you've had a,good stir let it simmer for another hour,and then only if you'd like I use this,masa tamale flour a tablespoon that adds,a nice thickening agent to the chili you,don't have to use it a good pinch of,salt or two if you have ever seen a good,stir let it simmer for another 5-10,minutes and you've got crock pot chili,it is so good so easy obviously he was,dump everything in the crock pot turn it,on and there we go,again this was brought to you by my,friends at hers hand beans hope you,liked the video come by my website in,the link below and see what other kinds,of recipes I have and I hope to see you,soon again this is Chuck a brand new,vegan thanks for watching

hi everyone it's Eileen today I'm going,to show you how I make my 15 bean soup,we love having this on a cold day and,that doesn't happen much in Florida so I,made it this day and I'm gonna show you,how I make it,you only need a couple of ingredients,that would be your 15 bean soon package,your kabaska sausage baby carrots a can,of Rotel half an onion and cilantro I,like to start off by placing my,seasoning packet in my crock pot my,water and my cilantro and setting it to,high while I do everything else that way,everything can start getting nice and,hot and ready for when I add my beans,and my sausage and my onions,foreign,I like to cut the sausage into four,pieces that way they're small enough,bite sizes and then I cut my onions,after that you're gonna start sauteing,or Browning your sausage once your,sausage is nice and brown then you're,gonna go ahead and add your onions to,that,thank you,you're going to go ahead and rinse your,beans and place them in your crock pot,and go ahead and add your onions and,your sausage to the crock pot stir,really well and make sure that your,crock pot is set for eight hours on high,and I say to make sure to get your crock,pot going on high and eight hours,because I have forgotten in the past to,turn mine on,foreign,Mark I go ahead and turn the crock pot,down to low I add my baby carrots and at,this point I go ahead and add oregano,garlic powder and complete seasonings I,like to put my carrots in now because if,you put them in early on while you're,cooking then they're going to be way too,mushy towards the end,foreign,then at the very end at your two hour,mark I go ahead and add the Rotel diced,tomatoes and about a tablespoon of lemon,juice I go ahead and stir it really well,and that's it you're done with your soup,and you can have it with any sides I,don't know if you'd like to have it with,like garlic bread or cornbread or even,corn casserole like we did,if you enjoyed this video and you like,quick and easy recipes please don't,forget to comment like And subscribe,thank you so much have a good one,foreign
