Double The Horsepower of Your 12 Valve Cummins | Power Driven Diesel

in this episode were very excited to be,teaming up with diesel tech magazine,they've brought us a bone stock 1995,dodge cummins truck and they brought it,to us hoping to get a few more,horsepower let's see what we can do we,decided to install one of our complete,fuel packages for this particular build,we're going to use our 400 horsepower,fuel package what that gives you is all,the components needed on the fueling,side to achieve four horsepower now this,includes our Oh five five delivery,valves which are a modest increase a,nice towing delivery valve govenor,Springs so you can wrap out the RPM a,little bit higher it includes seven by,nine injectors what that means when you,hear these numbers there are seven holes,in the injector tip and each hole is,nine thousand of an inch in diameter,so if you see injectors 5 by 12 7 by 9 6,by 13 that's what those mean also in,this truck we're going to increase,injection timing a lot of people think,this is a very difficult highly,technical process it's not terribly,difficult we supply this degree will and,it's actually quite simple to do finally,we're gonna top it off with our AFC Live,this is gonna give him complete control,of his fuel he can turn the fuel up turn,it down he'll be able to dial in as a GT,for whatever trailer he's towing with,this he'll have total control over his,fuel make a driving his truck real easy,real fun with all these power upgrades,it's a good idea to support those with,some other modifications first and,foremost is we're gonna put some gauges,in we want to be able to monitor our GT,you want too much boost remain concealed,a we have a good set of s Pro gauges,also we're gonna want to upgrade our,clutch the stock clutch is not gonna,handle this power for a very long time,so we're gonna put in a South Bend,clutch rated for about 485 horsepower,also we're gonna run a full mbrp 4 inch,exhaust that'll make this thing breathe,real good with all these modifications,we expect the power to go up,dramatically,so we have just finished installing the,s Pro gauges we now have an e GT gauge,and a boost gauge the rest of that truck,is bone stock I want to see what this,thing does without any modifications so,we have a good baseline to compare to,with our future upgrades we're going to,run this from 1500 rpm to about 2400 rpm,with the stock truck they're not going,to make any power beyond that they start,to be fuel and so we're just gonna run,that from 5400 rpm and see what kind of,power this makes you can watch boost the,GT and see the bone stock truck will,actually do,it's arable,about,that part of me one 46.83 83 points I'm,okay so this truck makes 146 horsepower,infinity foot-pounds of torque to the,tire without any correction at all Wow,Wow I know I mean it's been such a long,time slip in it stock drug oh this is,the gutless man this they are known for,being slow stock to be fair though,honestly this truck came stock that's,rated 175 horse part of the crank so to,get 146 to the ground really is about,what we'd expect but uh yeah we got some,room for improvement here let's get some,parts on this thing the first thing,we're going to do today is install the,AFC life the hardest part of the entire,install is probably running the lines,for the firewall but for most people,that already have gauges and installs,pretty quickly,now since we had the AFC out we are,going to do the modifications we need to,to add the extra fueling and then we'll,throw our back on the truck,and it's all ready to go back into the,truck before we put the ahc housing back,on we need to remove the fuel plate,goodbye fuel plates fuel plate out this,is ready to go back on that's what we,just finished the installation of the,modified AFC housing we're ready to,install the AFC live in the cap we'll go,ahead and do that now we're gonna start,our installation of the HD live burning,these lines through the firewall but the,AAC life does is gives us complete,control of the fueling of the engine,inside the cab okay we got all ready FC,live all installed all that's left just,to hook up the lines the one with the,white tape goes to the head the one that,has no tape goes to the AFC housing next,we're going to install delivery valves,injectors and bump the timing this,combination will allow us to pick up,probably another 100 horsepower with the,different injectors that we have in a,different driller valves and silver,valves allow more fuel to get to the,injector and of course an injector with,bigger holes in the nozzle allow more,fuel to get into the engine,bumping the timing allows more time for,that fuel to burn inside the combustion,chamber allowing you to decrease eg T's,and pick up horsepower and fuel economy,we're bumping the timing from 12 and 1/2,degrees to 18 degrees so only a 6 degree,bump now since we have the fuel package,installed we're ready to install the new,clutch this is a Southbank clutch this,clutch is capable of supporting 425,horsepower which is more horsepower than,the factory

with you all,what's up guys welcome back to the,channel welcome back to the driveway and,we're going to bring back in,the old second gen,all right so you guys seen the title of,the video,what does it take to make a 450 400,horse,12-valve truck now my truck now i've,never dynoed this truck,but with the setup i currently have,fueling and turbo and,well we're not going to worry about the,transmission right now but all that,combined um we should be in that 450 to,500 horse range easily,um even with some more timing we could,probably push that number that much more,we have enough air to support 600,quote unquote um well i trust 600 on the,s300 it's this small,probably not but,at the end of the day this truck is,probably in that neighborhood um again,not dynoed but just kind of more or less,butt dyno all right so let's get started,with mods that most guys can do fairly,cheap and,all honesty they give you the most,pickup without really doing any sort of,hardcore work,and aside from just the basic afc mods,we're talking delivery valves,so,i've got seven millimeter delivery,valves these are probably too hot,to daily drive to a certain degree,um i've ran 191's and um in honesty i,probably should be in about a 025 or,something to that measure,um,now you can get those relatively cheap,my boys over diesel auto power that's,right,they have always have specials on,fueling and they just put out a great,product i've run their delivery valves,twice or three times over,and never had a problem with them those,are probably your quickest way in my,opinion to get to take advantage of a,smaller injector,but get more duration out of that,injector and get more power lift pumps,so i mean there's a lot on the market,you know you got fuel lab you've got,uh air dog you've got fast um or there's,just these standard mechanical,lift pumps they are the cheapest that,you can go with,and depending on which one you decide to,purchase they have the fuel bowl heater,delete the bowl heater delete and you,just pretty much have the lift pump um,for me i run the power driven hot rod,lift pump um it's rated at 600 to 650,horse,and um really having any problem with it,it deleted the fuel bowl deleted the,fuel bowl heater obviously and uh let me,go and show you guys,all right if you guys can see that right,there um it's the whole system's been,changed over the 3 8th size line,gets rid of the fuel factory fuel line,as well and,for me it works out fairly well i,haven't had a problem with it,it puts out a good amount of fuel and,with the added,adjustable overflow valve,right there,roughly i'm right around 30 psi fuel,pressure,supplied pretty much all the time um now,again for you faster air dog or fuel lab,guys,obviously you're not gonna be running an,adjustable overflow valve you're gonna,be running a pretty much a preset,determined 45 psi,um overflow valve because again that's,kind of where you want to regulate it,now you can go to array style which does,push it up a little bit more,but again that is strictly your choice,and um yeah so we'll move on to the next,step here,now as far as fueling aside from,delivery valves um injectors,to get to our ideal desired desired 5,500 450 range horse,these are five by sixteens,um now other people in my videos that i,posted earlier this week,you know kind of thought that i told,them five by sixteens were needed no,five by sixteens are not needed to get,to that number um you can get away with,a five by twelve 5x12 5x14 easily and,create roughly about 450 to 500 horse,with the right air i can't stress that,enough,a lot of this comes back down to the air,side um,but yes if you're going to run five by,16s like me um,pretty much assume depending on where,your timing's at and the rest of your,your air system you're going to pretty,much,pushing some high egts,through a very small exhaust housing,now a lot of times guys will say well,can i take the hx35 and make good power,with it now,if you look at from this truck's,standpoint of things did i make more or,less power with the hx35 than swapping,over to an s362 did i make a huge,abundance of power,i look at track numbers so at the track,i picked up my best time,with this particular charger by roughly,about two to three tenths um now what,does that equate to horsepower wise,well i mean if you look at it from how,much air flow we're getting out of it,and what have you we probably did pick,up,i would say in the neighborhood of 60 to,maybe 100 horse,doesn't sound like a whole lot but it is,enough to give you some sort of good,numbers,now,let me go ahead and give you guys an,example so again this is my s 300 here,or my s362 68,um with a 12 centimeter housing,now this right here at this current,moment is,wastegated just how it normally is,supposed to be there are no additional,hookups to it i don't have a i have,adjustable boost elbow on there but that,was again from the guys over diesel auto,power and it is kicked all the way out,that setup right there um regulates my,current boo

it sounds like a stock guys that stock,ovens right there he probably sits down,to go to the bathroom to turn the,horsepower he's a squatter he's a,squatter,but this truck is not a squatter no the,giveaway truck 800 horsepower oh let's,get some look oh he's gotta have the,throttle me he's got cool yeah he loved,her as that was not real low that's the,lope mod where you just go back to the,throttle to try to make the governor,bounce good well it's good mod okay so,we're giving away an 800 horsepower,truck but that presents a problem how,reliable is a stock Cummins when you're,trying to put 800 horsepower through it,regularly it's looking last very long,you'll be honest how the road pre-teen,quit blown head gasket your pistons will,scuff cuz they're too tight tie the,Rings gonna but you're gonna the cam,Guerra walk off your cranks gonna move,all over because the stock the bottom,ends is talking handle so what is needed,to go into an eight her spell reliable,Street Ripper reliable is a full build,yes so what we took a took a factory,Cummins block yep machined it standard,bore so we want all the cylinder wall,strength in case somebody decides to,really lean on this later,yeah so let's go let's go through so,what what does a guy need who wants a,horse from the street let's go through,the build so if the guy wants to do this,at his house,here's we can do and for those guys who,are getting their tickets into this,entry you're gonna know exactly what's,in your engine it's gonna be sweet so,start off what's so cool about this,thing so first thing is whenever you're,doing this you need more piston to walk,clearance so the blocks got to go to the,machine shop you can't just dingleberry,home that at home you've got to open,this up yeah so we've opened this clear,up to ten thousand spits in a wall,clearance pretty standard for this eight,hundred plus horsepower level there we,go now unlike Todd's UCC truck we're way,bigger up there you know quite a bit,bigger so tends not excessive and crazy,but it is up there healthy yes now you,get a 400-mile engine you're gonna have,that much piston wall just from where,but you know on this one starting fresh,you'll make us when you get in the power,it's knocking the pistons they're gonna,get bigger with heat that's just a,reality she's gotta have room flows,needs to grow and not scuff the cylinder,walls and,so you gotta make room for that also the,rings got to be fixed you can't do a,stock rings yeah you got it so so we,file fit the Rings and open up that top,ring gap and if you look in a Cummins,manual it says you know 26,000 smacks,well it's bigger than that so we have,budded rings at much higher specs in,them so we may be embedded rings at,40,000 depends on how far you trace and,stuff this one's not that big but anyway,so you gotta do the Rings and then the,coolest part of this whole thing is we,dropped a six seven crank in there to,make this thing a stroker to drop it a,six seven crank you can't just set it in,and say good to go you had to do a few,modifications we actually had to take,the block and clearance it which is,fairly typical I mean the gas world,struck ranges are everywhere 383 I mean,they've got instructions grind here,they're going there modified the,cylinder skirt here and they're there so,this is actually pretty minimal the,modifications compared to a typical,stroker motor just a few things on some,of the some of the boss casting for the,bolt holes from external you know feet,assault was really it wasn't that much,grinding and fixing on the block but it,had to have some modifications so why do,we even want a stroker two reasons,longer stroke generally gives you more,torque torque is fun on the street and,to more displacement spools up turbos,absolutely quicker spool for sure the,third benefit that we're getting out of,this because the stroke is 80,000,Staller that means the pistons come up,80 the piston will not clear the head so,we've got to cut some off the piston but,essentially this makes the piston,blocked as if it was a shallower piston,bowl this raises the compression ratio,of the engine compression ratio has two,benefits usually the engines more,efficient emotionally what does it do,for the power it goes up it goes up as,long as you can not blow it up the more,compression the better that's just the,reality I mean well the big big powers,are low compression but that's for,reliability more power usually follows,higher compression so and then the third,just little side benefit you raised the,compression things spool faster so this,should be a spooling monster yeah but,let's be honest we're not gonna give,away an 800 horsepower smoke bomb we're,gonna give away a fast spooling well,tune let's go,800 horsepower originally what a 12,valve should be you're gonna street,drive at 800 not,some slop together sled pulling engine,that yes street drive a little bit this,is this is designed so that you can,enjoy it so the Pistons that are going,into this engine are actuall

got a video today on my,budget built 500 horse,12 valve cummins have uh 3 000 bucks in,motor and,and it's ultra reliable truck,starting off we started off with an,obviously stick truck,nv 4500 truck,got my gauges that's all you need is,boost in pajaro,170 000 miles pretty low,dual disc south bend just doing organic,and uh so that's a thousand,obviously big air filter i got to build,a,heat shield there yet but got the,holster hx 35r from uh duncan family,really like this charger,done really well for me so far you don't,need the,three-piece manifold but i did it so,right there we're at about that,2400 bucks those are the main things,you're going to be spending money on,caught injectors these are just 5 by 14s,that i did,just swap the nozzles in them pop the,pressures with it,let's uh have a diesel shot blue glue,that does pop pressures,um did that cut my own delivery valves,basically cut an o24 valve put them in,the pump,um got this made i should have made my,own but,i didn't really have the time um,you know built my own uh hot rod lift,pump i got these inner fenders out right,now but,it's a new lift pump in there and use,the comp cams 973-1 valve spring,uh puts over 35-40 pounds of pressure to,pump all the time,obviously governor springs all your afc,mods no fuel plate,don't need a fuel plate anyone that,tells you you do doesn't know what,they're talking about because your,rack's going to always hit the,afc foot if you take the foot out then,you could have problems but you're never,not going to hit that foot,and then a lot of guys are probably,wondering you know cylinder pressures,and everything,um i'm running,as you can see not studs because i'd be,putting it over the budget of my three,thousand dollar,500 horse coal out of 12 valve,we got mighty diesel head bolts,12 9 they're heavier and i got 140 foot,pounds of torque out of them,we obviously got valve springs and,everything but,international block,strong running commons no blue by put,the breather on there to make sure i,don't blow out a tapping cover or,anything,that always sucks but um yeah,let me know if you want any other videos,some pools and stuff we'll get some,videos and whatnot but,it's just kind of my play truck

so we're sitting here laying everything,out we got the turbo Josh just dropped,that on the floor cracked a piece out of,the housing we have three different,exhaust manifold gaskets we're probably,going to use the multi-layer one we have,two different sets of exhaust manifold,gaskets clamp locking Fasteners with the,little uh lot or whatever the ,Clips we got the down pipe,that's for your habit you said,and then exotic that kind of stinks,actually but I'm supposed to scan that,and it'll do something but that is smell,that,that's strong it smells like deodorant,it smells like,and then more exotic stuff got the uh,The Rocker pedestals,so there's a little nut damn this one go,figure this one's upside down you can,see the little Notch out of it so we got,to get those installed too and I gotta,do a valve adjustment again everybody,wants me to do valve adjustments and,then do stuff that requires more valve,adjustments imagine paying for eight,different valve adjustments,that's gonna be fun so Turbo's coming,off everything's coming at least these,are easy though because that turbo is,like right there unlike that Beast out,there that everyone keeps hating on,should we go higher,so much hate on that truck that was a,bad investment according to everyone,but like YouTube pays for it it was a,bad investment but,it matches my bike,I'm selling the bike,so we just got this piece out of the old,Turbo,oh man I need to figure out which one's,the feed which is right here,see how there's a little o-ring in there,I had to clean everything off somebody,decided it wasn't a good idea to buy a,new o-ring so we're just gonna have to,reuse the old one because,you know that's what he told me to do,get that guy nice and snug,yeah,the copper washer in there we got the,intake off,here's where we're at we didn't make it,very far so I'm just I'm gonna figure,out where the drain is which is right,there looks like 210 mils,hopefully easy if not,come on right there,no that's Titan I need to loosen it,there we go,that's not too bad,yeah so uh I'll get this one I'll get,the other one then we got to get the,down pipe off and then I'm not sure if,we're gonna pull the whole thing as one,or,if we're gonna do,it the other way and just pull one and,one here's about where we're at Turbo's,just sitting there I'm gonna get it,pulled off,um and then we'll grab the down pipe,from the bottom I'm not even gonna worry,about dropping those that's going to go,right in the scrap bin right here you go,might be hot,struggly,heavy here let me grab oh hold the,camera,okay,what the hell did you get caught on,you're calling them,and then,what the hell,there we go,let's hook a chain to it and we'll pull,it out oh it's getting caught on the,drain now,foreign,can I hold it for you hey oh my goodness,it's not bad yeah,when you're pulling out of an engine bay,I could have just grabbed it,we've never pulled this turbo off this,truck,the only thing I've done is uh,I don't know how that's gonna work the,only thing I've done is put a new head,on it,oh you're you're seeping coolant out the,back of the head there,smell the coolant yeah again I got a,cracked weight coming out of the cracked,radiator yeah I drive,all right,on my way this is my money pit,my money Pit's out there,all right so we got all the bolts on,there not sure what Josh is going to,want to do about that,oh I guess we'll just delete it,because it's not needed,so we'll get rid of that,Josh get rid of that,and then,we got the down pipe in I got these on,all these nice little locky guys here I,had to tighten a few of them to get them,even closer so as these back off they'll,hit got them all on the bottom too,so we'll have to get rid of this,see Josh look look at this see you don't,need that because this,goes right into the turbo compressor,yeah so,be able to get rid of that get a,flathead screwdriver whatever that size,is rip it out we'll drop the turbo in,we'll be all right,so generally you want to set the turbo,down in between the battery terminals,usually long ways we'll do that off,camera for you guys but,here's your little floppy boy here so,we'll be able to adjust the wastegate,from this guy right here hopefully it,just it just works and does what it,needs to I'm going to get this thing,extremely dirty,because Josh's truck is extremely dirt,look at this like what is this,I need a better mechanic stick this in,here,the gasket somewhere nice set but lost,it so it's okay,where did the thick one go,for the oil drain,oh here it is,I'm just gonna sit there,make sure that these uh,poles,that's gonna suck,do you have new bolts for that,no sir you don't nope you didn't give me,any,really yep,they're not going to give you eight,bolts for the turbo drain,oh look inside that compressor just look,how nice gnarly that is in there,Josh you understand how turbos work,right sort of,I don't think you do,so all right this will so,what's up,so,so,so,foreign,so,well michael we're going to talk about,this beautiful engine that,you've blessed by putting your hands on,i was waiting for you to touch it i was,like,oh boy she's looking good she is looking,good well we have jumped ahead quite a,bit of time here uh,you know some things have happened some,pieces have gone on the engine and uh,we've made quite a bit of progress here,so is that where you like so much,steamrolled ahead,we steamrolled we steamrolled ahead boys,and girls look at the engine we have got,ourselves an engine and we didn't do a,great job of telling you some details,inside so we're gonna kind of backtrack,oh do you want to go get the piston,from the other engine where we're going,to do that or the other uh garage we're,going to bring another piston out here,we're going to go over some details but,guys we have got it pretty much almost,all the way complete all of the internal,stuff hard parts are in it they're,together rods pistons all the rings uh,cylinder head is bolted on torque down,we've got our beautiful pure diesel,power intake on here we've got our,p-pump back on the truck we've got all,of our accessories we've got our uh,tappet cover our fuel block off plate,from keating on there,we've got our keating front cover,chilling sitting right over here we've,got our adjustable pump gear back on as,you can see we kind of marked everything,the way we took it uh off so we should,be at the exact same timing as we were,before so we've got our hamilton 188 220,cam in there,we've got all that stuff so we might,double check all of the timing stuff,once we kind of get everything wrapped,up but got our oil pump in there uh,we're waiting on some gaskets and some,random miscellaneous stuff we're going,to weld a another bung in the oil pan,seeing that these blocks only have one,oil drain in them we're gonna go ahead,and weld another oil bung so we can,uh have separate drains that was one of,the big things on the old engine we wide,together the turbo drains not,not the best case scenario so,uh we're gonna have separate drains for,each turbo spoiler alert we are gonna be,redoing some turbo stuff you'll see that,maybe in the next video but this thing,is almost ready to,go back in the truck like i said we're,just missing a couple miscellaneous,random things here,michael has,some tidbits of information to give you,so the idea is to not,line up all the piston,gaps,and there's like there's a hundred,different ways to do it but basically,we're just trying to keep,as much compression in as possible,without making them touch each other,when they get hot,so what i try and do is i try and,run the top ring on the intake side,because it should be cooler because cold,air should be coming from,you have cold air coming from this side,into the ring gap and then i 188 from,there because the gas has to go all the,way around the ring,to the other side so it's pretty simple,of,gap here,gap here,and then you just keep going down and,there's,a hundred different ways to skin a cat,but that's how this one was assembled so,um,other than that i mean we we glued the,fire rings to uh to the head before we,set it down on there,um but,yeah i mean everything went together,pretty pretty pretty well,so we're we're happy with it,but there she is,almost ready to go back in any anything,else that you can think of that might,help someone,in their backyard,oh what was it uh,the valve clearance,uh not the valve clearance uh,when you go to tighten your pedestal,bolts down remember we were having we,were having that so inside here we're,going to take a valve cover off for you,guys all right so we're reading through,your comments here on the 12 hour video,because i said i was going to answer,some questions and one that keeps coming,up besides let's go brandon is that,michael need a hug do you need a hug,buddy are we going to sign up for like a,hug day for michael,all right so what's this what's this tip,before we before i read through 200,comments on this video so,we have,we have our rocker pedestal we need that,to seal that's where the oil comes up,through the head,it's got a little indexing ring to go in,a hole and basically if you loosen your,rockers up and make sure that the cam's,down,so the like so the lobe's not up so,there's no pressure from push tubes to,push these down you can usually get them,to seat with your with your hands so,basically you just want to rotate the,engine over don't just throw all six on,at once,put the ones on that are flush,get your head stud kind of tight or taut,and then,roll the engine over to put the ones on,that or have a big gap because you'll,have like a quarter inch gap here,so really anytime you're changing your,cam your head your head gap like,anything to do with valve train always,always loosen up all of your rockers,all of the way because,like michael was saying you want the,pedestal to sit flush down on it now if,you have these backed out all the way,and they can still not sit fl

hey guys welcome back to the channel,as we previously promised we have papa,stumps,12 valve back on the dyno meyer was,kind enough to say that we could film it,and,yeah he's already got her strap down i,got out of all the hard work today,meyer you've been driving this thing now,for what a couple weeks,and a half yeah what do you think about,it so far,um obviously it's got like,2 500 pounds on the shoddy so it's hard,to really fully compare,but the fact that it even gets close to,it you'd be able to compare with it it's,like it's actually pretty impressive,it's like almost like just driving,normally on the street it's like pretty,much streets,um smoke free like and obviously driving,normally is like you know 30 pounds of,boost from every stop light which is fun,yeah and the mustang didn't even want,none last night didn't want none,you were on the converter i was on the,because it's a super low stall,in there and so i have to get on the,converter for like a good three or four,seconds before,it's like launchable and so i was on,there for a while,didn't want to get caught off guard he,had nothing to do with it,i just i was ready for a race and he,just,i mean this is the mustang that you've,gapped from the shorty right yeah,so no changes we're just gonna go get a,baseline right,yeah and now we have a fuel pressure,gauge um,meyer did find something interesting out,on the smokiness,uh we think it might have been the,filter uh remember before we had a power,grim diesel dust bowl filter,and i'll be completely amish um i,originally put these compounds together,just as like a test,i was like oh then i'll take it off,paint it well i never actually took it,all off and painted it and so i realized,that i had,one tight nut and one loose nut holding,on the s472,so there's a little exhaust leak in that,clock oh,okay well there's more to the story so,we're gonna run this no filter,and hopefully we see a much cleaner burn,out of the tailpipe,all right we're ready for a pull what's,the test window so we're doing from 1500,to wherever i decide to let it off,by around 3000 or so and we're going to,hit an overdrive,uh we got,that's first gen status,676 1537,very similar to what we saw before,a little torque but yeah i i use the ac,a lot to do down here a little bit to,try to keep the smoke out of it i just,have the afc set up a little,aggressive didn't look as smoky,still pretty smoky though,so,okay just validate the baseline,i'd say that's pretty good back-to-back,okay so we got our back-to-back numbers,i would say that's a really good,baseline pretty solid um,and you guys saw kind of smoky a little,bit better once maya turned the afc live,down a little bit,just to slow the ramp rate in uh what,are we going to do now mark,we're going to swap in some different,injectors and see how that affects,school and smoke and just,overall performance so heck yeah,so far you've done good pig so mine's,going to go ahead start,getting the horn pulled off the,injection lines return line,pretty straight forward on the 12 valve,and here's what we're putting in,a set of dynamite diesel stage 3 12,valve injectors,these are what seven hole they're ten 10,holes and lenny's saying that they,should be a little less smoky,make a little bit more more power maybe,the same power but cleaner,um so we'll go ahead and get you guys on,the time lapse,if,i can see the skies,the sky,all right so these ddps huge shout out,to these guys these were,for us to touch my guy okay all right,well number one they should be in the,box like they did for a reason,nice nice uh injector here they,put the copper crush wash on there they,come with a new retaining nut just as a,point of truth here we have the edge,filters still intact these five by 14,still have the edge filter intact,these are a 10 hole they're supposed to,flow very similar to like a five by,13 and a half five by 14. um,i know you guys will ask the die hard 12,out guys so we'll go ahead and,we got some good suction on these so,they are a,sac style nozzle,meyer is just finishing up here sorry to,take you guys off the time lapse but we,didn't want to miss out on this,opportunity to highlight this thing is going to rip,this is my brand new engine it was five,minutes we are standing here waiting for,the myth the legend,wtf,terry,today we're in the race shop because the,flow bench is here,and we are working on the stage 2 12,valve head for my personal 98 12 valve,daily driver now these have never been,on the flow bench at least for for you,the youtube audience so today it's,really exciting we're gonna put this,stage two,power driven ported 12 valve head on the,flow bench let's start on the easy one,let's start on cylinder number three,here see how it flows,so what this cool thing does,i guess we're starting cylinder number,four because that's how the uh,things set up,all right we're going to start on the,intake side because that's what's lined,up,all right so this head,this head peaked out at 196 cfm,um,that's,pretty decent stock heads down in the,the 135 to 140 range you know i've seen,some stock ones or size 145,on the intake you got to remember too,this still has an intake shelf we didn't,so you can't pour it in there all you,can really do is what you can reach in,the bowl so get 196 cfm,let's say roughly a uh,roughly a 60 cfm gain,just by working in the bowl all you can,do not bad,let's see what the exhaust does,remember the exhaust we can work on both,sides and two,getting rid of drive pressure on the,exhaust really seems to help with egts,reliability terrible spool up it seems,like the better we get the exhaust,flowing,the the better these things run on the,dyno so,let's see what we can get out of this,exhaust side,222,so this exhaust did not disappoint,peaked out at 222,so,it flows 4 and 22,so 26 cfm more than intake,that's a that's a great port,guys i'm excited about the flow numbers,that we got out of this head this thing,is flowing incredible over 220 cfm on,the exhaust 200 cfm on the intake i mean,this thing is going to rip let's go get,this bolted on my 9812 well that new,engine that's going in my 9812 valve see,kind of horsepower we can make on the,dyno,so,we are standing here waiting for the,myth of the legend,wtf,william terry,shocker you didn't go get a coke it was,five minutes to the grocery store i'm,back,i went there i got my soda what i'm,after,after our shaft supplier called me and,said i have an emergency i need to know,something as we're coming together and i,answered him and then my mortgage broker,called me and said,rates dropped today we freaking locked,you in and i need to make sure you're,happy and i just took care of all that,and here i am and now you're being,advised and i gotta pee,i need to use the restrooms,all right guys this is my brand new,engine i'm super stoked to see this,go back in my truck now really quick on,the truck you can see this was actually,a higher trim level truck like a slt or,a,i don't even have laramie back then but,the hood insulation was falling apart,and so the guys ripped it off and put,some nice uh sound deadener on this it's,called kill mat brand they threw on,there same with the firewall firewall,insulation was greasy and old kind of a,fire hazard i've seen trucks burn down,so we got rid of that put that on there,but enough about that we don't care,about the truck this is what we care,about we're horsepower junkies this,engine is awesome,we've been calling this a 6.1 liter,stroker but it's actually a 6.0 liter to,make a 6.1 you need a 40 over with the,67 488 stroke this is a standard bore we,didn't want 40 over because we're,putting big power and you want as much,cylinder wall thickness as possible so,this is a standard wall with open up,piston a wall clearance let's highlight,a couple of the important upgrades on,this we have the same injection pump i,was running before it's upgraded it's a,640 cc pump but it is nothing special,we're gonna put the same fuel system on,and i'll bet you we pick up hundreds of,horsepower cause we had plenty of fuel,before but getting down to the bottom,end the very first thing we do when we,get over a thousand horsepower factory,rods like this bend,they get s-curve they can't handle it,with rod bolts you can turn more rpm and,do that but with with a factory engine,with 300 000 i wasn't going to pull,apart and put rod bolts and put factory,rods back in because i'm going over a,thousand horsepower the factory pistons,they get a little scuffing on the skirts,so the first upgrades on the bottom end,waggler street fighter rods now if you,see these,they're and they're uh they're they're,kind of economy line of rod these are a,great rod we've tested these to 1500,horsepower they're awesome the big,highlights half inch rod bolts you can,turn rpm with them stronger beam,and,they're affordable i mean what more do,you want in a performance part,affordable and works to me that's it,they're not quite as beautiful as the,the billet rods but at the same time,these are still a really good material,good rod great the other thing that we,get on the big power is,bearings we start having trouble with,bearings so we put some mo
