it peeking out of my teacup here see,this thing I was hoping you all were,curious about that this is a loose leaf,tea bag I love this for months I've been,thinking I wish somebody would invent,something that would make it easier for,me to drink and steep loose leaf teas if,you're like me you have probably tried,things like tea balls a what would you,call this a tea basket or tea strainer,that you set on top of a mug well these,have problems this is hard to fill you,would get herbs in between the seal here,and then they fall out in your in your,tea and then your teas not pure and,you've got bits which that's not a big,problem but I don't enjoy it that much,so these are you know you can fully,immerse your loose tea when you put it,in these things but it's kind of a mess,and it's not as efficient to use,this you said on the top of your teacup,it works okay but you have to fill your,teacup really really for a full two,submerse all the herbs so this has,difficulty as well hey guys welcome back to sick sister,stuff today I'm going to teach you how,to convert your recipes into instant pot,recipes so I'm Kristin I am the second,oldest from sick sister stuff come now,over on sick sister stuff we have over,3000 recipes over there but here on our,YouTube channel I mainly focus on,instant pot so every Monday you'll be,getting a new instant pot recipes,because they were a little more,difficult especially when you're,starting out using your instant pot okay,so before we get started on this make,sure that you subscribe to our Channel,and of course push that little bell to,get all the notifications every time I,post especially if you're looking for,instant pot recipes every Monday around,lunchtime I'll be sharing a new instant,pot recipe with you so that being said,let me tell you my nine tips on how to,convert your recipe into instant pot,recipe tip number one I would highly,suggest not putting very into your,instant pot that includes premium milk,cream cheese cheese those kind of things,if you do sometimes they work out but,many times they curl which no one wants,chunky cheese in their food let's just,be honest about it now if you have a,recipe that calls for dairy you can,always add the dairy in at the end so I,have a recipe for potato soup and it,calls for cream so I cook all my soup,like it would regularly then I add my,cream in evidence same with cheese,same with cream cheese there's a lot of,recipes that can work when you add the,dairy in at the end number two sometimes,you need to change the recipe a little,bit so it will actually fit in your,instant pot now depending on the size of,your instant pot I know there's the 3,quart - the 6 quart and then there's,also an 8 quart sometimes you need to,downsize your recipe because almost pot,there's a fill line and it shows you,where the Max's you don't ever want to,hit that max that's not a good thing I,always say go a few lines,that's where you want to hit if you have,a soup where it contains a lot of soup,be sure that you cut that recipe in half,so it will fit and cook properly in your,instant pot now this is especially true,when you're cooking pasta rice beans,anything that expands as you cook you,don't want it to expand over number,three now what the recipe is called for,you need to saute your vegetables you,need to boil this first you need to do,that first the good thing is the instant,pot can do a lot of those things,my favorite is it can sear your meat so,all you have to do is push the saute,button and then put your meat in either,in a little bit of oil or whatever your,wrist becomes 4 and you can sear the,meat right inside your instant pot then,you can add everything else on top and,cook it now this also goes for recipes,that call for your onions you have to,brown your hamburger you have to,literally anything that you can do on,your stovetop in a normal pan you can do,inside your instant pots now number four,if you are just starting out learning,how to hear insta pot my biggest,suggestion is find a liquidy recipe just,so you can get the hang of things now if,you're looking for some very beginning,recipes click that little button and,you'll see all of my beginning instant,pot recipes if you're a little more,advanced there are some ways to cook,food in the instant pot you can check,out my instant pot must-haves,up there you can put your food in a,steamer or a springform pan and then you,can cook your food that way I have a few,such as a cheesecake a meatloaf,lasagna those kinds of things use easy,slow cooker recipes when converting them,into an instant pot now if you are just,starting out that is one thing I highly,suggest doing get one of your favorite,slow cooker recipes that have a lot of,liquid in it and cook it right inside,your instant pot that will be one of the,best ways to start learning with your,instant pot now not all recipes are,suitable for the instant pot you have to,make sure they have enough liquid if,they don't have enough liquid in there,it's not going to pressurize,and it's not going to cook correctly now,one of the hardest things to get right,if the cook time cook time is so,different compared to the slow cooker,for example when you're cooking chicken,in the slow cooker I like to cook on low,for 6 to 8 hours I can get the same type,of chicken I think it's better in the,instant pot and it only takes about 15,minutes in here so that's kind of a hard,part you have to know what kind of food,will cook in the instant pot well and,how long it needs to cook for so I've,made it a little bit easier for you I,have created this little cheat sheet,that I'm gonna actually put a link in,the description for you that will lead,you to a post kind of explaining,everything I've talked about here but,the cheat sheet is there so you can,print it out I like to stick mine on my,wall because whenever I'm cooking I need,to know how long each recipe needs to,cook for so once you have how long your,meat and I think the most important,th

everyone welcome back to cast iron lane,I'm Tiffany I was just getting ready to,start a meal in my instant pot but,instead of using it as a pressure cooker,today I'm going to be using it as a slow,cooker and I know when I first got my,instant pot it was a little bit of a,change to go from using a traditional,slow cooker to using my instant pot as a,slow cooker it wasn't as straightforward,as I would hope but it was also not,difficult to do so I want to walk you,through those steps as I prepare my meal,today so one of the biggest differences,in using an instant pot as a slow cooker,compared to a traditional crock pot slow,cooker or any other slow cooker that you,might have are the different heat,settings so the instant pot has a low,setting a medium setting and a high,setting the low setting on your instant,pot is more like the traditional keep,warm setting on a slow cooker the medium,function on your instant pot is more,like the low setting on a traditional,crock pot and the high setting on your,instant pot is more like the slow,cookers traditional setting of medium to,high so you'll need to make that,adjustment within your recipe for the,slow cooker when moving to the instant,pot start by securing the lid and,plugging your instant pot into the wall,outlet also make sure that your instant,pot is set to venting and not sealing,next you'll choose the slow cooker,option on your instant pot and then you,will use the adjust button to choose,between low normal which I refer to as a,medium and more which I refer to as,medium high,now we're going to adjust the time,setting we'll use the timer button to,switch between hours and minutes as you,can see it's fog going between our,options and the minute option so select,your hour and you speed plus and minus,signs to go higher or lower depending on,the timing needs for your meal once you,have selected hour then you can use the,timer switch to toggle to the minute and,select your minute once you have set,your time simply don't press any more,buttons in 15 seconds the instant pop,will begin working those beeps let you,know that it has started keep in mind,that the instant pop was originally,designed to be a pressure cooker and not,a slow cooker even though it has the,slow cook option the instant pot is,built entirely different than a slow,cooker its material is different and it,heats differently so you might have to,work with their recipe and find the,perfect settings for your slow cooking,thank you so much for watching never,enjoyed having you at cast iron lang if,you found this information helpful,please go ahead and hit that thumbs up,button and to receive more from cast,iron Lane comm go ahead and subscribe

Convert Soup Recipes to Instant Pot Recipes! | STOVETOP & SLOW COOKER

hey friends I'm stuff from cheapskate,cook calm and welcome to my kitchen so,here's the problem you have an instant,pot and you've tried a couple of recipes,on Pinterest and they've turned out,pretty well but you already have a bunch,of soup recipes that you love rather,than needing to recipe test tons and,tons of instant pot recipes in order to,find ones that are similar to the,recipes that you already love I'm going,to show you how you can take your soup,recipes and convert them to the instant,pot it's really really easy in fact I,didn't even realize that people didn't,automatically do this until people,started asking me questions about it so,I'm so excited to take you step-by-step,it's only going to take three easy steps,to take your favorite soup recipes and,turn them into instant pot recipes first,the process of making soup in the,instant pot is almost identical to,making it on the stovetop you just take,a few ingredients you're gonna saute,some of them you're gonna add the rest,of the ingredients and then you're gonna,put the lid on it and you're gonna cook,it very very simple right you do this,all the time on the stovetop the,difference between stovetop and the,instant pot is that it is a pressure,cooker and so you're going to seal the,valve and you're going to set the time,that you want it to pressure cook and,then you get to walk away and you get to,do something else you don't need to,think about it you don't need to run,back into the kitchen because the soup,is boiling over you don't need to,babysit the stove you can just walk away,and do something else until the instant,pot things telling you that your food is,ready,step one of converting your favorite,soup recipes to the instant pot is that,you have to decide how much soup to make,because it is a pressure cooker,therefore you can't fill it up all the,way so stovetop you're gonna probably,fill up the pot as high as it'll go,depending on what the recipe calls for,but when you are converting your own,recipe you have to make sure that you,don't overfill the instant pot so,basically a good rule of thumb is to,keep the instant pot half to two-thirds,full and that leaves enough space for it,to build up pressure and cook your food,really well now the really precise way,to figure this out is to take your soup,recipe and measure out all the,ingredients and calculate it and find,out how you need to adjust the recipe so,that you're not filling the instant pot,to full my preferred way is to just put,the ingredients into the instant pot and,when you're filling it up with the broth,or the water whatever you're using for,your base then stop when the instant pot,is half or two-thirds full after the,soup is done cooking if it's a little,thick and you want to make it a little,thinner just add your broth or water,then,the next step and probably the most,challenging for people is to figure out,how long you need to cook your soup for,and that is actually solved very easily,basically you just look at your,ingredients and figure out which one,takes the longest to cook,you simply take the ingredient that,takes the longest to cook and that,becomes your base for cooking this,particular soup so for example if I was,making a chicken and rice soup the,chicken and the rice take roughly about,the same amount of time so depending on,what kind of rice it is depending on how,big the chicken is I will check how long,each one of those takes to cook and I,will choose the one that takes longer my,instant pot came with this little recipe,booklet and in the back is a bunch of,cheat sheets so we've got like a rice,and grains list here we've got seafood,and fish they have meat and dried beans,and legumes that kind of thing and so I,just check that real quick if you don't,have a hard copy of something like this,then you can find the times online,really easily a quick internet search,will give you everything you need to,know about the instant spot,there are a few tricky ingredients that,you have to be very careful about,accidentally over cooking in your,instant pot because if you overcook,these guys your soup is gonna taste,terrible,first broccoli broccoli is a very tender,vegetable and we all probably know what,overcooked broccoli tastes and smells,like so I highly recommend that if you,are making a broccoli cheddar soup or,any kind of soup that has broccoli in,any form in it that you cook that,separately or if your soup is full of,ingredients that don't take very long to,cook and you're only cooking it for a,minute or two then you can go ahead and,cook the broccoli in with everything but,if it's like a rice soup or a chicken,soup then leave that broccoli out and,steam it separately and then add it to,the soup after it is done cooking the,next tricky ingredient is pasta pasta is,also very tender and if you cook it too,long then it's just gonna be mush in,your soup so I highly recommend again,pay attention to what your ingredients,are and how long your soup is going to,be cooking and then

hi I'm Irish you come to save us calm,that's my blog and today I'm going to,talk to you about the principles of,adapting a recipe for an instant pot so,let's say you have a recipe for a,stovetop or an oven or something people,are always asking about how to adapt a,recipe and you know the better way to do,this is to understand the principles,behind it so there's Assyria this is,gonna be a series of four videos I'm,gonna cut them short so you can decide,which ones you want to listen to but,essentially we're gonna talk about four,points one is how is pressure cooking,different so what are some of the,changes that happen when you cook inside,a pressure cooker what does that mean,those changes what do they need for the,typical adjustments that you need,how would you adapt a recipe that's made,for something else and then I'm going to,walk into a sample so in this video I'm,gonna talk about how pressure cooking is,different some of this is gonna sound,obvious but when you look at the,implications it will make a little bit,more sense as to why I chose these so,the first thing that's gonna happen in a,pressure cooker is you're gonna have,less water evaporating it's a contained,environment all the water that you put,in is going to stay in but then all the,water that the vegetable is in meat and,everything else releases is also going,to stay in so obviously you can start to,think about the implications of that,you're gonna end up with more water than,you started unless you have started G,things like pasta or beans or potatoes,in there so because one of the main,changes that's gonna happen as you need,as you think about adapting your recipe,is the water is going to stay in however,the paradox is everything needs a,certain amount of water to cook so you,need to have at least 1/4 of a cup of,water in it and then when the meats and,vegetables release water you need about,somewhere between 3/4 - 1 cup for the,pot to counter pressure so what that,means is you can't do dishes that have,absolutely no water that's gonna be,released from that dish so you can't,make dry dishes as an example the fact,the faster cook times are the biggest,advantage but also the area where you,will have to adapt recipe the most and,in the next videos I'm going to talk,about how you can think about,and some of those times the other thing,to consider is that things cook at,different time period so no and it's not,vulgar for example you can put meats and,vegetables in at the same time and you,can expect them to cook at the same time,that will not work in a pressure cooker,what's gonna happen is things that are,less dense like vegetables or meat or,seafood shrimp are going to cook in a,very very different pace from dense you,know meats like pork or chicken or beef,etc so there's no you can't cook things,at the same time unless they take the,same cook time the other thing to be,very very careful about it and a,pressure cooker is you cannot have its,course at all so you know when you're,cooking on a stovetop for example you,can have dishes that leave a fond at the,end of it and that fond is a good thing,it's got a lot of flavor if you watch,the video about them my yard reaction,you'll see how some of those things are,deliberately cultivated in a stovetop,you cannot have those in a pressure,cooker because the good pressure cookers,will stop themselves so if it's gorgeous,at all as a safety measure it will shut,itself off so you need to be really,careful about that and then the other,thing to be aware of is that foods don't,always act the same under pressure so,you know how alcohol will evaporate on a,stovetop it won't necessarily in a,pressure cooker peppers things that are,spicy sometimes the heat may intensify,if you're doing a concoction and the,main thing that comes up quite often is,that dairy will curdle so if you're,cooking with yogurt or if you're cooking,with milk,now sometimes honestly you want it to,curdle you wanted to separate so if,you're making an Indian style dessert,you want that separation so you want the,milk solids to be extracted but most of,the times that's not a desirable thing,so what I found in my experience is that,dairy kernels and cans of coconut milk,don't always do as well under pressure,as you would like so these things are,why you need to adapt recipe so just to,recap real quick there's less water is,going to be evaporated,you can't cook dishes that are dry you,cannot afford for things to scorch you,have to be cognizant of the fact that,different things cooking under different,time periods in,meats and vegetables won't cook at the,same time and then the last thing you,need to be aware of is that certain,commonly used foods like alcohol coconut,milk dairy etc do Carter so that is why,when you start to adapt a recipe you've,got to be able to think through all of,them now we're going to talk about what,that means what are the implications for,the typical adjustments that you will,need to make because pressure cookers,operate d

hey everybody it's a ginger optimist and,today I'm going to show you how to use,your instant pot as a slow cooker we're,gonna make a pot roast with vegetables,let's do it I already have my pot on,saute and it's already at hot I've got a,couple of tablespoons of grapeseed oil,inside there now let's season our roast,and get it sauteing,I'm using a steak seasoning as well as,black pepper and Himalayan salt the,roast is now sauteed so let's turn the,instant pot hot and we're going to begin,to add our vegetable I've got one large,diced onion a tablespoon of minced,garlic add a tablespoon of brother fresh,rosemary I'm gonna add in beef broth,I added about two cups of organic beef,broth now we're gonna put our vegetables,on top we've got diced red potatoes and,carrots and celery this time we're not,gonna put the sealing bow on now we're,going to turn it on our slow cook and I,want to set the time at three hours,I've now got it on more because I want,it on cooking high on the slow cook and,and I want my time at three hours so you,got to play with that slow cook button,that's where you're gonna move it up and,down for if you want it on low medium or,high for the heat of your pot and now,we're gonna let it do its thing my,instant pot has been cooking on slow,cook for about two and a half hours I,would normally let it go for at least,three hours but because we're on a time,crunch today I'm going to check it and,see if it's ready to eat,ah smells so good,look at that yummy plate of food all,right it's time for a taste test,hmm carrots are so good,let's try a piece of roast that is so,yummy I do think it would be better if I,could have left it in for another half,hour to an hour it would be more tender,but it is done it tastes amazing so,that's how you use your instant pot as a,slow cooker if you have any questions or,comments please leave them down below I,would love to connect with you thank you,so much for watching the ginger optimist,if you enjoyed this video I hope you'll,consider hitting that like button if,you're not following me already I sure,hope you will have a great rest of your,day my friend and I'll see you on the,next video,god bless bye

hi everybody welcome back to our kitchen,here at,little spoon farm in today's video we,are kicking off our,summer sourdough series and we are,really happy to share,our first recipe which is,slow cooker sourdough bread yes you,heard that right,we are going to show you how to bake a,delicious,loaf of sourdough bread in your slow,cooker,and that way you don't have to worry,about,turning your oven on in an already,extremely hot kitchen,but still be able to use your sourdough,and enjoy,sourdough bread all summer long so,if you want to learn how to use your,slow cooker,to cook a delicious loaf of sourdough,bread,stay tuned and let's get started we,test all of our recipes in a 68 degree,temperature kitchen that is important to,note,because depending on the temperature of,your kitchen,you will want to adjust the rising times,during the first and second rise if your,kitchen,is colder than 68 degrees fahrenheit,then you will want to extend those,rising times and if your kitchen is,warmer than 68 degrees you're gonna have,to shorten those,so this might be something that you need,to,do a little trial and error with and,kind of,figure out what's the best time in your,environment,feed your sourdough starter about 12,hours before you're,ready to mix your dough and that way,it's nice and active,and bubbly mix that with the,water the salt the bread flour,and the whole wheat flour mix that all,together in the bowl until there's no,dry bits left in the bowl cover it and,let it rest at room temperature,for one hour now you're going to perform,three sets of stretches and folds,30 minutes apart to do a set,simply wet your hand with a little water,to prevent the dough from sticking to it,pick up the dough on one side,lift it up and fold it over itself turn,the bowl,a quarter turn and just repeat this,until you've turned that bowl,all the way around cover it and let it,rest for 30 minutes,until the next set once you have,performed,the third set of stretches and folds,cover the bowl and let it rest for two,hours,again adjusting for your kitchen's,temperature after the two hours is up,you'll want to do the final shape on the,dough,i do an initial shape where you turn the,dough,out onto the countertop do a rough shape,let it sit for 20 minutes covered and,then do the final shape,now you can shape your,dough into an oval shape or into a round,shape either one's going to work,if you have a round slow cooker,your dough will bake in a round shape,regardless,of how you shaped it in the bowl,so after the dough has been shaped,cover it and let that sit at room,temperature,for one to one and a half hours,then you are going to transfer this to,your slow cooker turn the dough out onto,a piece of parchment paper,and then gently lower that into your,slow cooker,put the cover on and then turn the slow,cooker on,high now let that bake in the slow,cooker for one hour,then you're going to remove the lid and,place a towel,over the top and then put the lid back,on you don't want the towel touching the,dough,you basically want any moisture that's,that's coming up to the top of the lid,that's sticking to the lid,you want that to stick to the towel and,that way,that moisture doesn't fall back onto,your bread later and,cause it to be soggy so that's the point,of putting that towel over,the slow cooker at that point let the,bread bake for one more hour at high,temperature,remove the lid and check to see if it's,done,so i take a digital food thermometer,and check the internal temperature of,the bread,and it should read at least 200 degrees,once it's ready take it out,and put it onto a cooling rack and let,it,cool completely before you slice it now,don't forget that this is being baked in,a slow cooker,so you're not going to have the heat,like you would from an oven,which means that the bread is going to,be done it's going to be baked,but the crust is not going to have a,browned,charred look to it it's going to be soft,so with that in mind i have a lot of,people that,try to get a softer crust on their,sourdough,so this might be something that you,would want to,try because the crust does stay,extremely soft,now it's very easy to slice it,it's delicious and it's again it's just,like regular sourdough bread,but baked in a slow cooker so i really,hope you guys,love the spread we are so excited about,this,because i know that we're going to want,to eat sourdough,you know all year long and this will,give you that way to be able to do that,so,anyway i hope that you love this recipe,as much as we do,and until next time bye
