DIY Vintage Jadeite Glassware | SPRING DECOR

hey guys it's Shannon I am so excited, about this project I cannot even tell, you you're kind of gonna get it glimpse, into my spring coffee bar idea so you, want to make sure to subscribe and come, back whenever I do my big spring coffee, bar reveal because I always do a really, great tour for you all so you can see,all of the details and this is one of,them so I love the jadeite which is a,really pretty sort of creamy green color, really pretty for spring and I went, shopping for it and let me tell you it,is not cheap some of it is very, expensive especially if you can find, antiques and the authentic ones but even, right now Hobby Lobby has some and, hearth and Han over at Target even has, their own line with a few things but it,wasn't exactly what I was looking for, number one number two paying twenty five, thirty dollars per piece was definitely, not in my coffee bar budget so today we,are actually going to be creating our,own jadeite so let's get started all, right so let me show you my goodies here,I actually went to a Dollar Tree first, because you know me chec Dollar Tree, first you never know what you're gonna, find and they have some gorgeous pieces, this was even in my Dollar Tree haul my,spring Dollar Tree haul so go back and, watch that if you missed that this, beautiful vase that was also in my haul, and then a set of salt pepper shakers, and just a clear glass plate so of,course one dollar for each of those, pretty good deal until I went to the, thrift store and found some amazing, pieces for even cheaper than the dollar, trees so we have this, beautiful unique ornate it's almost like, one of those vinegar bottles maybe also, this I want to say sugar port or maybe, spirit poorer but again has that pretty, diamond glass look to it this gorgeous,oh gosh this is a great find tre a lemon, juicer I just really liked I liked the, idea of the glass having some detail to,it and then this candy dish here so all,of these these four here were 50 cents, each and then this was only $2 so I'm,really really excited to see those all,be transformed so my plan here to get, that beautiful jadeite finish is I found, this paint at Michael's it's the Martha,Stewart paint and this is in the color P,shoot which I know is a beautiful name, right but it's that gorgeous merely, jadeite color however I also found this, krylon spray paint in the color, pistachio and unfortunately it is way, freezing here it is like in the 20s so,this is just not going to work,I like to spray paint outside if I run,out of this paint I may try it so I did, grab it,but I think I'm going to use a foam, paintbrush and paint all of these, instead even though I know this would be,a lot quicker and a lot easier so if,you're in warmer climates I would, suggest doing the spray paint instead, but here is what I'm gonna do to get, started I'm gonna take all of the tags, off of the glassware and wash it all so,it's nice and clean and dry and then my,plan is to use a foam paint brush and,add paint to the underside of,everything so the bottom side of the, bowl that way the top has that pretty,Sheen to it like Jada is like a row, glossy type finish same thing like the, bottom of this the inside of this the, only thing is I'm worried about is this, one here there is like a tiny hole in,the lid but I could probably drew up,some paint into and cover it that way,but I have no way of getting the paint, into the handle on this so I may just, paint the outside of this and see how it,goes and I can always add sort of a,glossy finish over the top even but, again for this tray I'm going to do the, bottom side on the bottom of the lemon, juicer and so let's get started and see,how this all gets transformed and how it,looks when it's all finished, all right so I wanted to give you a look,at the pieces after one coat of paint, and definitely it needs at least two if,not three coats but I am just loving I,mean that's what it looks like from the,top instead of the underside that was, painted and that is so pretty I'm so,happy with that so I know as I add a,coat two or more it's just gonna get, better and better now this one I said I,had to paint the outside so we'll see,how that goes the other thing was this, guy I couldn't paint up inside of the, stem so the bottom of this did get, painted on the outside too so I really, wish I could have gotten all of that on,the inside because it would have looked,so pretty but like I said I might add a,clear coat and locked it up so the other, thing I wanted to mention was this paint,it says to let it dry an hour in between, coats that's willing to let this doom, and let it dry for an hour before I come, back and do another coat but the other, thing that it says is that if you let it,cure for 21 days it is a top rack, dishwasher safe or so it says so no I,would not say this is food safe I would, not put salt and pepper in here after, painting the inside but if you paint the, outside and then go to wash it I guess,it should be okay after 21 days but yeah,I just this world's a little bit, difficult make sure i

behind it,so find a comfy chair get your favorite, beverage, because i'm going to tell you a story, the whole story nothing but the story,in great detail it was an ordinary, saturday of sourcing, and i found two things that turned out,to be,the highest sale that i've ever had on,ebay,i'm going to take you back to that, saturday and share with you a little bit,of the shopping that day,and then i'll be back to tell you more,of the story, good morning hi everyone i'm vicki with, avonte avenue welcome to my channel,it's saturday and mark and i are going, sourcing, two neighborhood sales in gray tennessee,we might have been to one of them before, but i have to get out of the house i,spent all week listening mark did the, photography and,i did the listening and the packing and,the shipping and i just gotta get out,so come with me on this saturday let's,go sourcing, see if we can find some things to resell,on ebay let's get started, getting closer to the next sale, neighborhood sale it's really pretty in,here lots of trees, beautiful day just a slight chill in the,air what do you think it is today mark, about 68 degrees, something like that yeah i don't know if,this is a newer neighborhood or older,we will find out it's a good thing we,have more than one neighborhood today, because this one well a lot of the sales, are closed up compared to last year but,i've got one right over here let's go,check it out i don't know if i can video,it's kind of hard to do when there's a,lot of people around,i see a small sail there and a couple, more down the street, world sail by the way looks like mostly, kids up there,we'll see mostly kids stuff tori is kind,of like what i expected,so you know some of the sales have, closed up they're supposed to be up,until three, and it's a little after one and that's,what happens so,we'll keep looking there's another one, open might have some promise, check it out we see another yard sale, sign so we're going to go left and,see if there's really a yard sale there, and guess what there is a yard sale here, let's go check it out, well believe it or not i found two items, there, heading to the next gray neighborhood,in tennessee look at that barn over, there wait a minute garage sale sign, two of them we need to break for this, look at all these salt and pepper, shakers, aren't these crazy, hey guys, all right i gotta go through this step, right,do you see what i see i see little, figurines, all kinds of cool stuff at this garage, too, and i have a whole bunch of them, cool we spent 60,at that last sale yes we did salt and, pepper shakers small figurines a lot of,japan, pieces and some other things that i have,to show you,but i'm not going to tell you right now, what we got disclosure for the sake of,privacy i'm not, disclosing the address and i'm not, disclosing her real name,i will refer to her as k i'll call her k,and through our chatting back and forth,at the garage sales i was picking out, things,i learned we learned mark and i learned, that, her basement was set up with tables, full of items from an estate sale that, she had had many years prior,an estate sale from the loss of her, mom's items her mom and dad, were dealers vintage and antique dealers, and so since they had a business and her,mom had moved in with her she inherited,a lot of things, and she had had an estate cell her own, estate cell in her home,in her basement and she never took it,down she just left everything up,and things were just still set up in her, basement she was selling from it on,occasion,at little local sales but throughout her, chatting throughout her conversation at,the garage sale as,i said this was mentioned and i asked, could we see it,and she said sure so her friend that was, helping her at the garage sale took us,downstairs and we only had five minutes, barely five minutes, her friend took us down there are big, sheets of plastic all over the table so,she's uncovering them, and we're like ping pong balls ping ping, ping ping ping trying to see everything,as fast as we could, and as soon as we were past the table, she was covering it back up again so we,got, really i think five minutes five minutes,to take a sneak peek it was just a tease, anyway we went back upstairs to the, garage sale and kay said did you find, anything i said, kind of interested in those green, jadeite bowls that you have, how much would you like for them she, thought about it for a minute and then, she said,oh wait i'll tell you that lat

Jadeite Haul For My Collection

Jadeite Haul For My Collection

hey everyone it's amiter, and i know i've been a little m.i.a with,my crafting and stuff,um i should be back to crafting anytime, soon, but i wanted to show you what has been, keeping me entertained as of late,as you guys know if you guys have, followed me for a while you know that i,love antiques i love, certain vintage things and there's for, several different reasons it reminds me,of a nicer time, kind of situation but it also reminds me,really much very much of my grandparents,so,i've been collecting antiques for quite, some time, more recently because it's become a,little bit more available in the city, that i live in,um because before it really wasn't that, easy to find certain jadeite items,i started to pick up a few things here, and there so,i have a little display case which i was, over there and i'll show you guys in a,minute, once i get these cleaned up i just got, these items, and i'm going to put them in the display, case and then show it to you um,so you guys can see where i'm at in my,small little teeny tiny tiny jedi, collection,if you guys are interested in that i,will like i said we should return to our, regularly scheduled program of crafting, anytime soon,i also have a haul video um that i'll,probably post after this as well,so let me show you if you guys don't,know much about jadeite i mean i'm still, learning i am such a newbie i have, joined some jedi groups, the best thing i have learned is when, you want to start collecting something, like this especially if you're in a city, like myself that is,not as much of an older city or a,metropolis i live,in las vegas and i know people think, that's an older city a it is not a,metropolis know that now when you're,moving here,it is not a metropolis it does not have, anything really, full on antique per se except for what's,imported from other states,so the antique shops that i typically go,to are antique malls,um in the las vegas area the antique, stores like actual physical individual, antique stores are very high priced, they're basically, tourist priced kind of things the, antique mall you will find a few things,um it's not like some of the other, states where people get to,say oh my gosh look i found this that's,worth 300,at goodwill which by the way i don't,shop there um,no you know it's like it's it's not that, easily found but now more recently, some of the antique mall dealers and, stuff like others people that are moving,to the state,uh i noticed that a lot of people are, moving to the state and retiring here,uh mainly because of the nevada does not,you don't,you don't pay uh state taxes you only, pay federal taxes so it's a lot,um less expensive for people anyway i,digress that's not what we're talking, about, let me show you um some of my little, collection which i just started to get,and i don't know where to start okay,so this is a little mini flower pot, they had two different kinds they had,one that has little scallops on top i,thought this one would go better, because i also have this and this one if,i'm the mistaken it's by mckee i'm not, sure i'm still learning like i said, please forgive me and if you guys are, avid jadeite collectors i apologize if i,said something wrong,of course some of the more bigger brands, are mckee i'm sorry fire king mckee,um anchor hockey of course fire king was, made by anchor hawking, and also more recently the one company, that is still producing things more, recently,is moser now i know i hope i'm saying, that right now i just totally insulted a,bunch of people if,um if you do see some of the antique, items, that are much newer they're mostly, imported from other countries from, thailand,um and i forgot where else is making, them so those are more, newer ones these are actually antique, this one is fire king, right here and this is a three footed, bulb,i was like but bulb vase so people would, use these as a candy dish or,to grow perennials not perennials um,seasonal, bow flowers like tulips and stuff like, that because at one point tulips were, very expensive and only for the high, class kind of situation back in the,1800s i think,i so yeah so i got this one i really, like this and this one does have a,little bit of scalloped, but i really really liked the side,um the side etching right here so i got, that one,i don't recall the prices on things,i think most of them were under 30 or 40,dollars a piece, this one was 80. i splurged i know i,know i know, but keep in mind i don't want to order,oh another thing is i hate ordering, online because, the way some of people ship it's,horrendous and if this stuff breaks,me getting my money back doesn't make a,difference it's just like i mean it's,replaceable almost, okay so these are mckee and you can see, right here let me see if i can see the, camera, this that's upside down that doesn't,help right here,m c k you probably can't really see it,that is the stamp down here, these are custard cups now these would,be made obviously to make custard, but they have these wire racks which i,have found surprisingly enough, and i went to buy th

Jade-ite

Jade-ite

all right I'm introduced myself I'm Pam,friend Sallah I'm from Chicago and I'm,actually a depression glass dealer I do,not collect jadeite but I have so many, friends and so many customers that do,that I really found myself falling in,love with it so whether or not it's,gonna end up in my own collection or not,I'm not really sure so the first thing I,want to talk about is what is jadeite, and actually the name jadeite was, derived from you'll have to part me I'm,going to read this it's a a Spanish, phrase that means stone of the side of,the mountain and that's where they found, stones like Jade and other things like, that with this particular color now, today we consider jadeite to be an,opaque green glass where there's three, main companies that made it you have,Jeanette McKee and Fire King I'll talk, about some of the other companies that, are similar but those are the those are, your three main companies and as you can,see fire king is a little more prolific, than a lot of the companies so but we'll,get to that,so the first company that came out with,it was McKee and these pieces here are,all McKee and you can see there's a,little bit of color variation between, the three companies and sometimes it,makes it easier to figure out which one,it is by the color so in the 1930s they, call this color skokie green and, basically they took green glass scraps, and added this brand new opaque material, that they were using to come up with, this color so they came out first and, then Jeanette said oh look they're,making money off this stuff I think,we're gonna try this so they came out in,1932,now fire King didn't come out until the,1940s even though they made the most, pieces the most patterns people like, that better it they were later so what,we're gonna do is we're going to talk, about the Mickey one thing I want to,mention is the pieces that were made, prior to the war will glow under a,blacklight none of,paola when i meant to bring my black, light i don't know if anyone has one, with them but i minds in my car but, these some of these pieces if they were, made prior to world war ii will glow, under a black light because there is,some uranium in them after world war ii,or during world war ii they stopped, using it because they needed it for the,war effort so first we're going to talk, about a king and I'll just give you some, ideas they basically did pieces for the, house things like shakers and, chemistries and Reimers and other things, they only made one dinnerware pattern, and this is called Laurel and you can,see the variation between the colors so,they decided they were gonna go more, towards shakers and canisters and things,of that nature because this is what the, households needed a spices were very, expensive so you kept your sugar your, flour your salt your pepper right on,your stove they made them square so they, could fit closely together and not take,up a lot of room another fascinating, thing that McKee did and basically they, came up with these you know you're going, through prohibition you're going through, the Depression they wanted to make, something fun and these are called, bottoms up and come up and look at,everything afterwards basically they, were kind of doing the Hollywood style, with the nude woman and you had to take,it drink it and drink the whole thing at,one up one time so they called that, bottoms up,this one I don't have a Jade one I,apologize I sold it but they made this,in the jadeite also it's called bottoms, down as you can see so the same idea it,was all going with the Hollywood glitz, and glamour, well they had a problem there was, another company making these in more of,a ceramic materials so I mean he had to,fight with him over the, patent so the earlier ones they made had, split legs you can look closely you can,see these legs are open after the, lawsuit was settled they came with the, legs that are together so these are the, earliest and these are next but we're,still talking around the same timeframe, they all carry a patent date on them if,it doesn't have the patent date it's a,reproduction all bottoms up we'll have a,number here it's like seven seven seven, twenty five but because they're,currently making these you want to be,careful if you're looking at them to,make sure they have a patent date on it,and they made them plain and then they, made them with these just so they would, sit nicer in your cupboard and then once, again with the shakers we have different, shapes we have the Roman arch we have, vertical long lines, the plain ones you can see there's a,variation in color they made a light, when they made a dark one etc so then,we'll talk about Jeanette Jeanette was,the next company Jeanette made no,dinnerware everything they made was for,the kitchen or for the bathroom and, things like that oh and one thing I want,to show you I have this is a Jeanette, orange reamer this is a Mickey lemon now, they both made lemon and they both made, orange but if you can see Mickey doesn't,have any lines on it whereas the,Jeanette has lines and th

JADEITE, CORNING WARE, AND PYREX

JADEITE, CORNING WARE, AND PYREX

well we've got a pretty day today, and i've got a whole table full of stuff,to show you,i want you to know it took me all, morning to set this table up,i couldn't think of a better way to show,it because my kitchen's really too small, the shelves are too hidden, and i thought well i'll just put it on,the table, and let you see it piece by piece, now get your coffee or your drink ready, because it's going to take a while and,if we don't get through, all of it today you just put it on hold, and you can re watch it in two different, sections, set, sessions, all right, remember the other day when i found a,new gadget in,down under my shelf, that never used, well i was trying to make some more, space, today and, still looking for some of my jadeite and,my pyrex and what have you,and i found another gadget, you're gonna love this one,i'll get closer so you can see it good, would you believe,it's a donut express, you can make your own donuts see that, little gadget there, you pour your dough in there and you've,got your grease in a big deep pot and,you just push that little handle, and it drops your doughnut, down in there and best you ever ate,i'm assuming, because i never used it,this is another little gadget i'll give,my granddaughter she's just so tickled, when i'm bringing all these gadgets in,that,i've never used,no she's never going to use them either, now today, you wanted to see my jade,i'm going to tell you in the first place,i don't have that much jada, and i don't know a whole lot about it i,just know i like it,i started buying it,because i liked it i use it to decorate,my house,it's not an investment, item,it's not something i want to be sold, again, for the money the money doesn't interest,me at all,i like them, because they, decorate my kitchen the way i want it to,be,and i'm going to,show you first,i'm going to show you the, corning wear you wanted to know how much, corning wear i had,i never was a corning wear collector,i bought,my first three pieces in a set,the set was,um,in the early 1960s,each each square dish, had,a lid,i'll come around the table so i can show, those to you,we'll get them out of the way, here's the lid this is the lid,i've got several lids, this was probably the biggest, dish, now this is not,an old one i don't know where my,three-piece set is it's here somewhere, but this is what it looked like, cornflour that's the only pattern i've,ever bought, and this little, stamp on the bottom tells you it's a new, here's another size this would have been, the smaller side it too,is the new,i've got the large this, this is very good for when you have to,take a dish,to potluck or to,christmas dinner or what have you you,can make enough this will feed, all 15 people probably and then there's,a casserole dish like this, this these are both old, they're both corn flour, now put these aside,i'm going to set them over here in a,chair,my coffee pot,i think i picked that up at a goodwill, probably 25 years ago,if they had goodwill then they had, something, flea market or something so that's my,coffee pot, this too is new i needed a pie plate ran, across that for about two dollars, got my pie plate, now these are both old,and i,i had the ones that were deep, they were the handiest little things, you can do your dinner in it and then, sit and eat,i like those, these come in the newer, cornflower pattern, still got the stamp, but if you've got a set of these,i eat out of these i,heat my food in them and then i eat out,of them, and both sizes are very handy i use them, every day,the next,is old, this is a handy little, deep pot,i use it a lot got the measurements, inside, you can send right down, barely can can you sim right down, through there, gives you measurements, and this is a very handy one for, small family or a few lives alone now i,love the lid,you see how this lid is made it's made, specifically for this one dish, here's the deep one,it also has measurements, inside, right down through there okay, now, put those back together, set them, aside the only pyrex dishes,i have, are these, they were also a set of three, these were bought in the 1960s also, and i have several lids, they fit right on top, over the handle,so there's your, there's my pyrex,so i know that's a disappointment to you,i don't have, what you expected,uh let me see i want to go i want to,show you a few gadgets, well when i say gadget i mean utensils,i want these up here where i can get, close to the camera,we're going to get to the jade out in,just a minute,i have to move things around,so it's easy for you to see,i'm gonna go around the table again, these, are one of my,special, let's see if i can get this, this is special, you see these, these are my shredders, see the different sizes, look at the large ones, that cut,and this is the size i use the most when,i'm making coleslaw, now i have never used these, partly because when i got them they had, never been used, but they were in a box, they were in a box,i'll have to take this out because it,be a glare, this was the box,you can see how old,it is,sharp chisel edge fast cutting wi

Vintage Glassware eBay Unboxing - Rare Couroc Glasses and Jadeite!

Vintage Glassware eBay Unboxing - Rare Couroc Glasses and Jadeite!

hey guys it's mike and carlin from the, kitchen magpie and, welcome to our huge unboxing series,so as most of you guys know mike and i,are collectors of vintage glass, mike likes vintage bar wear i like, everything,so we are going to unpack our, collections for you guys,um now this actually isn't our, collection that we're going to start, with here today, this is stuff we bought on ebay because,we don't have a house to unpack,so why not do some shopping it's easier, just to buy more stuff, and then forget that you've got stuff to,unpack okay, what did you buy mike let's start with, you okay i don't even know that's part,of the problem,i suppose when you shop as much as you,do apparently i purchased it from taurus, auction so,ebay yeah let me see you want to see it,okay,i don't actually even remember what's in,here this could have been one of those,i see shiny wool stuff oh yes i remember,oh yeah this isn't just,a this isn't just a me thing this is a,oh yeah yeah he's going to pin this one,on me,this is carlyn's fault okay fine i see, what they are it's my fault,i'll own that korok mushrooms, super nice okay fine yes,i approve of this purchase a lot yes, this is a good one,as the president of the kitchen magpie, can you approve this message, yes okay i'm the president of the, kitchen magpie and i approve of this, message, there you go i'm really tired of,election, ads for the states i'm just gonna put, that right out there, tell me about it so that is the running, joke in the house i'm the president and,i approve of this message,so we try to watch we watch tv in the, evenings, and some of the stuff we watch is on the, history channel and the history channel, when you watch through their website has,a problem with repeating,uh uh pro-trump anti-biden ads,i'm not saying i'm or against anyone, because, that's nobody's business right, yes we're canadian who do you think we'd,vote for, anyway point being it's annoying because, the ads continually just, rinse and repeat over and over again i,wonder if there's anyone investing in,history channel on a certain political, party,i don't know it's terrible like i just, want to watch mountain man,on history yeah so that's the show we're,watching and uh,super interesting highly recommend it if,you want some if you want to watch, people do stuff you're never, ever ever ever gonna do and when you, look at it you go wow that looks hard, wow yeah how many of these did you buy,i don't know but man they wrapped them, that's good though, okay so let's keep burning through this, what cocktail are you gonna put in these,i don't know but i feel like you should, have mushroom in this somehow that's,gross,i don't i like mushrooms but i don't,think i can get behind a mushroom, cocktail what is this you don't come, with the tray i don't,i feel like it's a tray so this company, kurok if i'm saying it right it's,c-o-u-r-o-c,yeah they um not as well known, like they're not um they're not like an,anchor hawking or anything and they're,not uh,who's the one i'm thinking of cutler, yeah, that the one who does the shiny gold is,that someone else oh you got some, the thing is so yeah but look at the art,on them,it's really like it looks hand well they, are they're hand-drawn for the most part, right, hand inlaid by master craftsmen shells, coins woods and metals are fused, into kurok's famous satin black material, which is impervious to alcohol boiling, water, and cigarette burns what does that tell, you about the era that these come from,it's like you can put your cigarette on,that,at your drunken 60s party with these, amazing tumblers, and don't worry those are great shapes, yeah, they weren't cheap uh-huh i was just, going to ask what you spent but,i think this one i think this is one of,those scotch plus ebay equals bad, moments wasn't good oh and quarantine,in quarantine so wow has been really bad,for shopping, yeah we don't shop to make ourselves, feel better not at all no,no therapy shopping at all,so flipping cute i feel like i feel like, there's got to be one more i don't think, you would have bought seven,oh there is a set of eight, right yep that's it,okay cool, okay so there's mike's ebay, shopping that's my knife and we'll open, this this is my,i don't think this is ebay wait watch, that knife,um i think that was facebook oh man i,discovered, facebook vintage groups like i need, another place,to spend my money i found Vintage Jadeite Fire King & McKee vs. Walmart Pioneer Dishes #jadeite #valuabledishes #vintagedishes

Vintage Jadeite Fire King & McKee vs. Walmart Pioneer Dishes #jadeite #valuabledishes #vintagedishes

hi everyone welcome back to another, edition of The Velvet Lounge today I,want to talk about fire king and, specifically I am comparing it to the,Walmart line that is out there it's not, fire king that they're selling it's a,how can I say this it's a um I guess,I'll say it's a version that's trying to,copy fire King more so the jadeite fire, king is mostly what they're targeting, because that is the most expensive line, and people pay top dollar for it that I,have vintage fire king I actually have a,collection of it this is just one, collection of the fire king that I have, all different pieces there's some green,in the back there some of the bowls are, stacked you can't really see but the, jadeite ones are really what people are, talking about when it cooked and when it,comes to the Walmart line of these, dishes so I probably have I'm going to,say maybe a hundred and fifty pieces, something like that some I don't really, have a lot of sets more I have you know, some of this set but they're just, separate pieces that my grandmother, actually gave me this is one of my,favorite pieces you can't really see the, design in it that's like a bluish tint,to it I have some of the jadeite stored,in another cabinet and I'll show you a,few more pieces and justice up here are, some more,I have so I have several so I've been, collecting um these dishes ever since I,was like I'm gonna say in my early 20s,and like I said I have more of it,upstairs as well and the reason I want,to talk about it is because um the and I,really don't want to give an,advertisement for this Walmart line but,the Walmart line is made by the Pioneer,Woman lady she has like I believe it's a,cooking show or something on I don't,know if it's HGTV or the Food Channel, something like that I don't watch it so,I don't know but I know it's the Pioneer,Woman and one of the issues is first of,all I actually saw a picture that I,wanted so I was going to buy it but, instead decided to buy just a couple, cups and saucers sets so that I could, use them everyday, and I was like that'll be cool because I,know I don't want to really use my,vintage stuff cuz really it's you know, used as a decoration in my kitchen and, some of it is used in a decoration in my,Theriault that I have in my dining room,so that stuff in Plus with the older, stuff I mean common sense tells, collectors of this stuff so older it is,the more likely it is to crack so we,have the common sense to know that if,this stuff it's decades upon decades old, this stuff is in some cases older than,50 years old like it's older than many,of the people that are collecting it and,so we know there's a potential that the, oldest stuff that's authentic might, actually crack and that's why people, either use it like by putting cool items,in it or they use it for, display or trading or whatever it is,they do the new stuff that's brand new, being sold by Walmart that stuff is,supposed to be made so you can actually, use it as soon as you get home wash it,you should be able to put your hot soup, your hot coffee your cold ice cream, however you're able to follow the, directions and use those dishes that is,what you are supposed to be able to do,what's happening which happened to us is,I was making a cup of tea just a regular, cup of tea I poured the hot water in I,was going to put my tea bag in it when, the cup shattered I was shocked, horrified and thank God my dog was not, injured who happened to be at my feet, when the glass fell on the floor and all, over the countertop it was it was, disturbing and I was not pleased there, are people out there defending this, flawed set of dishes or this flawed line,of dishes that should not be defending,it because if these dishes are not made,as they're advertised to hold hot items, then they need to be advertised that you,can only put cold and in some cases I,wouldn't put them in the freezer, obviously but don't put them in the, freezer I would recommend but you know, you should be able to put ice cream in,them or something that's at room, temperature and that's how they should,be sold they're not being sold that way, they're being sold whereas you can put, them in them I believe I didn't remember, seeing this because I returned to mine, and I never put these dishes in the, microwave but I don't know if they're,microwavable but I know that you are, supposed to be able to put a hot you, know have a hot beverage in them which,is what some people are buying them for, because they don't want to use their old,and vintage pieces they want to be able,to enjoy something, similar to enmity as another vintage, line that it's copying without having, injury and also the fact that that, pioneer woman line is concentrating on,the jadeite you know the green jadeite, kind of gives you sort of a message, that's mostly what people are buying you, know they're definitely trying to copy, something that was you know retro of the, past which there's nothing wrong with, that it's just that it has to be made, safe for everyday usage which is what,it's being advertised

Guidebook about Jadite glassware

Guidebook about Jadite glassware

okay today is something they're kind of,from for I guess if you're interested I,had a request to go over this book a bit, more and so I thought I'd do it today,it's a book just about jday it's an,identification and price guide it's a,joke color and David Ross is shipper, book for collectors so if you want to,buy it which I would highly recommend it,is a fantastic book but it's all about, jadeite and I said these are essentially,I mean there's gonna be more to this, than anything but essentially there's,three main companies the key Jeannette, and then incre Hocking or fire king and,so this kind of goes over the products,of those three companies including, delphite or azurite i coast by different, names but those are the two I know so,yeah it's it's a great book I said it,goes over all the different models and, things and it gives you I mean pricing, but this is old now so the pricing isn't,really accurate anymore but it's not, that'd be kind of fun to kind of show, you some of the things because like it's,it encompasses a wide variety of,products Mike said kitchenware here so,you see like canisters for flour and, sugar more like jars which I like and,you have like these ones with lids which,I'll show you a different set of things, great some wonder that later these more, like shakers which I like and you can,see I mean salt boxes all sorts of stuff, mixing bowls which I had a complete set,of these at one point sold them all of,course but those are some my favorites I,just like that that's well you seem in,white a lot to whites pretty popular and, then these ones I like to these are, called the Swedish modern mixing bowls, and like that kind of shape of that, spout a head a few Pyrex ones I'm,looking for it's similar to that kind of,more of a triangle but you don't have, those right now,two of bowls or the flier flower bowls, usually have my tulips on them I've seen, yeah I mean baking pans to custard,- chili bowls - rolling pins measuring, cups these are pretty sweet love to get,a set of those especially in the box you, know and I have actually I have one of,those produced it's in Pyrex or e not,Pyrex as fire king but you know I'm a,milk glass so in the Pyrex it's,fantastic but if I could find one of,those I'd be very happy,a lot of times you'll see a lot of,juicers these are pretty common even, these ones I've seen them like you see, them pretty regularly especially like, these like Sunkist ones very common and, then refrigerator dishes which always am,a fan of but right here I'll show you, this guy so you see this is uh the,Jeanette when it has the same lid that, those canisters had from back there who, knows click now B reason why I'm showing, you this guy is that this is the one my,mom has and it's the one I remember from, when I was a kid and so if that is the, specific thing that sent me on this, journey because that was always one of,my favorite things as a kid and it still,is and they said I'd love to have one of,my own someday I keep looking for one in,the wild but really haven't run into one, that's reasonably priced but yeah I had, traced all my jada in everything back to,that one specific piece so always, thought those kind of interesting you, know those one little things you have as,a kid I kind of set your path for the, future and so yeah so I'm gonna need to,see like more refrigerator dishes baking, pans drippings and butter dishes more, shakers, spices stuff see all sorts of things and,a lot of this has been reproduced - so,if you want to you can buy a lot of this, stuff brand new that looks just like the,old ones a lot of it's been imported so,if you care about that just be careful,a lot of it is like it will be imported, charm this is kind of interesting - its,I have this in the Dell fighter as,you're right on the blue,I have the the cups and saucers and, things and so we got I got a project, coming up with some of that stuff which,I will talk about later but since it is,for Christmas I'm not allowed to say, cream sugar bowl I had both of those oh,he said I used to have a lot of this, stuff and I sold it all when I move so,I'm starting to kind of get the some of,the collection back I love like somebody, divided plates and things I'm sure back, there and the pictures just again just, fun stuff you see I can s'more divided, plates,I do love a divided plate kind of my,weird thing one of those guys that no it,was like the food to touch so you know,if I could sit there and get everything, separate it'd be fantastic for me,you got this aw so as you know you can,get like the comment row site so I,rarely run into this this is pretty, pretty rares from at least as far as I,know cuz I rarely ever see it usually, jadeite is relatively common the as,right or delphite unless so and then, anything else I guess it's pretty pretty, rare for me I got some of these agate, raised coat actually get it right here, sorry this real quick so as you can see, this cup and got the saucer to or the, little plate so yeah so I have those two, pieces I just like a month up they're,c
