what's up everybody we are deanna and, phil and this video is all about german, food that you need to eat a question, that i get often is what food should i,try when i visit germany so we put, together a list of top 10 dishes to try, when in germany number one sausages, there are so many delicious sausages in,germany some in all shapes sizes colors, and links, yeah so this could be a whole video by,itself so we're just gonna mention a few,of the more popular wieners a very, famous one is currywurst which, originated in berlin post world war ii,by using ketchup and curry powder from, british soldiers in germany and making, the famous curry ketchup over a grilled, pork sausage it's one of the most, popular street foods in germany and a,must try if you're ever in berlin, there's also the tharinga sausage from, the german state thuringia and i,personally love this one a lot the, minced meat is local from the german, state with spices and usually garlic the, oldest known reference to the three, sausage dates back to 1404 and this one,is definitely on the smokier side and i,really love it there is also the famous, vice verse if you're in munich or,bavaria this is also a must try it,translates to white sausage and it's a,very lighter area sausage the, traditional version is made with minced, veal and pork back bacon and if you, order a vice verse in bavaria it will, often be served with sweet mustard and,you can eat it with or without its skin, the next sausage is the nuremburger, roast bratwurst these sausages are small, and very flavorful they are often served,in restaurants with a side of a potato, salad or on the streets in a bread roll, the recipe can be dated back to 1300 and,a must try if you're ever in nuremberg, there is also the frankfurter version, which is very common sausage meant for, boiling this one is more common in at,home meals when we aren't outside and, grilling,a big stick of meat this is a wife you, look so happy number two rouladen, grinder roulade means beef roulade and,it is a german meat dish where a thin, slice of beef is rolled with bacon, onions and pickles and then cooked as a,roll it is very good and germans often, have it for bigger or more important, holidays or family events it is a little, bit more of a winter dish though yeah, and there's also the cold rollata or,cabbage rolls which are minced meat, wrapped in cabbage leaves and baked, together this dish is one of my favorite, dishes and i know a lot of cabbage,roll-style dishes are very popular, throughout the world in germany it's,more of a savory dish and we've,attempted to make this at home, several times ourselves here we go here,we go the moment of truth moment of,truth are you ready, well wow it looks cooked through yeah, and it's a little dry,but we'll see we'll see it looks okay, yeah, number three schnitzel, schnitzel is a must try when visiting, germany it's just a thin slice of meat, that has been tenderized and breaded, before frying for the meat you can, usually choose between pork and chicken, but there's also the more traditional, veal variant or trending vegetarian, options the most famous one is probably, the wiener schnitzel which is originally, from austria as veen is the german word, for vienna but the schnitzels are, everywhere in germany and there are, other types of schnitzels like my,favorite the jaeger schnitzel it's like,a hunters or huntsman's schnitzel which,is a schnitzel with mushroom sauce and,it's so good yum and my personal, favorite is probably the chicken, schnitzel with hollandaise sauce oh yeah, yum yum oh my gosh i'm so excited oh,excuse me mr wasps this food is not for, you, number four keizer schpetzler, keizer spatzler is a very popular german, dish originating in the south of germany, but you'll find it throughout germany in,most restaurants and for that dish hot, small noodle or dumpling things and, grated cheese are mushed together and, finally decorated with fried onions it,is one of my favorite dishes when it's a,good one you can say that it's like mac,and cheese's cousin it's not quite the, same thing though and the fried onions,on top are a must, dude i think the best bites are the ones, with the,the onions in it these fried onions yeah, yeah so that's a that salad's for you,and that small plate is for you this is,all for me before we continue drooling, over delicious dishes we need you to,like the video and subscribe to our, channel, and if you want to further support us,you can do that at,patreon.comfill where we make additional, videos and now let's see what else we,can eat number five fish bleuchin fish, poison or fish sandwich is a go-to snack, especially in the north of germany it's,a fish sandwich usually served with, onions pickles some type of sauce like a,remoulade or creamy horseradish sauce, matches a type of herring is probably, the most popular one but you can find, fish blitzen with salmon mackerel cot,and other fish as well yeah when we were,in hamburg we tried the north sea The BEST German Food - What to Eat in Germany

The BEST German Food - What to Eat in Germany

hey there fellow hungry travelers mark, here with wolters world and today we're,going to talk about the eats of germany,or more like the most germany german, things that you should have when you're,here and you know what we've got to,start off with probably the most german,of the germany-ness the sausages the, thirst yes there are lots and lots of,bratwurst when you're here there's lots, and lots of sausage you can have when, you're here and you're gonna have a lot,and you well should whether you're me or,you're my mom or my kids sausages ray, when you're here and probably the most, important one to have is the touring, bradford so the toyota of broadfost is,just a type of bratwurst that you'll see,on the street people be selling it in,little stands or they might see a person, like carrying it like in a backpack and, they're cooking it in front of them but, that is the definition of a perfect, bratwurst now what's cool is sometimes, you can get it at a half meter size okay,so that can be a bit crazy but during a,breakfast that is your traditional, bratwurst that you're used to and you, know and that you're going to love with, some zen some mustard on top now there, are a lot of other versed a lot of other, sausages when you're here if you're down,in bavaria in the south there's vice, verst or white sausage which is really, really good and they serve that with a,sweet mustard and a pretzel which is,very nice now if you're down in,nuremburg nuremberg's famous for the, nuremburg sausages or the nuremburg, verse and the thing is is you might, recognize the nuremburger sausage when, you see it because it looks like a,breakfast link sausage okay the thing is,they're small and they're tiny and if,you go to nuremburg you're going to play, and they'll actually give you like a,plate of 30 of them but if you're,walking around and have it they'll give, you a little roll with three or four, inside with some mustard that's a great, way to go especially in nuremberg that,is a must when you're there and if,you're in berlin you probably have the, most popular one that's become like a,super trend snack in germany and other, places around the world you have, currywurst which is curry sausage now,you may think oh it's a curry bratwurst,i'm like no it's a normal bratwurst but, what they do is they put curry spices, into ketchup and make it a curry ketchup, and what they do is they chop it up and, then they drown it in the curry ketchup, with some fries it's fantastic and, honestly if you're looking for some food, thing to take back home from germany get, some curry ketchup and take it home with, you because that stuff is the bomb and, sometimes you can actually find the good, stuff at aldi back in the u.s so there,is that for you now if you're looking, for more of your traditional like hot,dog kind of sausage though there's a,different a lot of different names all, different things that kind of go on,there but the closest one you're gonna, find is either a frankfurter or a buck, first okay those are two ones that are,the i feel resemble the closest to a hot,dog or a vena verse or a viennese, sausage you'll see those as well but, basically on the street your sausage, choice is going to be that toner of,bratwurst that's going to be your go-to,walk around snack kind of thing great, great great street food here in germany, okay now moving away from our sausages, because you know germans eat more than, sausage i think yes they do they eat a,lot of pork as well and you will see, pork pork and more pork when you're here, you can get a pork steak schwein steak, that's a popular cut of meat but one, that you'll see proud of the most is,actually schnitzel and i know when you, have schnitzel traditionally schnitzel,is made out of veal but here in germany, veal is more expensive and so you set a,lot of places that give you pork, schnitzel well there sometimes you see, chicken schnitzel but it'll be a pork, schnitzel which is a pork just beaten to,a flattened thing they bread it and fry,it it is super good and there's a lot of,different schnitzels you can have my,personal favorite is jaeger schnitzel, which has mushrooms and cream sauce on,top oh,so good so good you can't go wrong with, that, other pork things you might want to have, when you're here when you go around you, might see a thing called fricadele, which is basically i would call it a,meatball sandwich that you'll see the, same place that sell you like the curry, versus the bratwurst they'll have those, there but the most important pork, product here in germany for me is,schweinhock's or basically you're,calling it like pork shoulder or pork, knuckle you'll see that on there and if,you ever played a video game and they, gave you like the ham hock kind of thing, where it's the bone and the meat on it,and it gives you all your energy back, that's what it is and when you have one,you understand and there's different, ways you can have it if you're in berlin, they'll call it ice spine and it's like, boiled okay but if you're in other parts, they put it on a gril

American Tries Classic German Snacks (ft. @EthanChlebowski)

American Tries Classic German Snacks (ft. @EthanChlebowski)

this video is sponsored by surf shark, potato bears the most shocking item in,all of german cooking would you like to,taste his balls kind of tastes like gas, station meat instant potatoes, raw pork hey everyone my name is andong, and this gentleman right here needs no,introduction but in case you've been, living under a rock this is ethan, chabowski host of one of my favorite, youtube food channels can you tell, everyone what your channel is about yeah,so i'm all about home cooking so i love, diving into technique but also cook very, simple and basic things too and then, also love exploring food all over the, world which is why i'm in france for the, next couple of months and decided to,come up to berlin and since ethan is in,town i thought we absolutely have to,have him try a couple of iconic german, snacks what is your impression of german, snacking culture i think the only one i,know is the kinder egg outside of that i,literally know nothing else we are about,to let you try what like i think 20,something german snacks you are gonna, give each snack a rating from 1 to 10.,guys this is not clickbait but you, absolutely have to watch until the end,of this video because ethan is about to,try the most shocking item in all of,german cooking in all of german cuisine, because it's not even considered cooking,i think with that said here is item, number one, ethan what is this looks like currywurst, exactly what it is berlin specifically,is known for its curry sausage this is a,very controversial version of a curry, sausage that you can have at home in,mere minutes i have heard a lot of,things about it some good some bad and,in fact i have never tried this it says, before cooking remove this,oh,look at that we got the classic german, currywurst style wooden mini fork this, must be the curry seasoning apparently, all we got to do is pierce this a few, times, and then microwave it for two minutes, the one the only curry king aka instant, curry sausage,oh my god,a lot of people think caribous is,actually like drowsed in ketchup at,least if you're buying a good curry, boost it's not ketchup and then it's,always dusted with some curry powder it,smells kind of good actually so as the, guest of honor you get the wooden fork, let's go,i like the sauce and the flavor the, meat's pretty generic kind of tastes, like gas station meat it's like mush but, they've done a they've done a good job,at masking it in some sauce my sauce is,absurdly sweet like sweeter than ketchup, yeah if you had enough drinks late at,night you know i could see myself, putting putting back one of these i'm,gonna give this like a five at the, moment like the meat kind of just tastes, like a hot dog so i think with this, having one or two bites it's like eh,okay i think the big problem is if you,sat down and had this whole thing you'd,be very sick of it and you'd be like, what did i get myself into 100,in the meantime ethan we can have a,drink this is called spizzy let's see if,you can guess because it's easy cheers, cheers,i'll give you a little hint it has two, components and you know both of them is,it like coca-cola and fanta yes that is,exactly what it is like mixing coca-cola,and fanta 5050 yeah is what we call, spitzy yeah in germany it's very very, popular in fact so popular that people, started so it's just pre-mixed off-brand,not from the coca-cola company that's,actually a beer company oh okay okay,it's kind of like an open secret that, this brand makes the best specie mix but, yeah if you want to recreate this at,home no matter where you are in the, world 50 coke 50 fanta there you go on a,scale from 1 to 10 for drinks i'm gonna, put it at a seven right now, could you read out the name of this deck, that would be uh super dick mans zupa, dick months but it gets worse these, things like until a few years ago i,think they were always officially called, that yeah but colloquially people would, call them n-word kisses and like until, until like 10 or 15 years ago that was, still quite common to call them that oh,they're big okay there you go zupa, dikmans,oh they're light they are like very, light cheers cheers three two one, why,oh my god you ate them sideways is that, not what you're supposed to do you're,sure to go top yeah i think so everybody, knows you start from the top you eat, your way down and in the end you end up,with this thing which you like lick off,and then you just eat the wafer i mean, that's how all the kids do it people, describe it as like eating a cloud, halfway in between like whipped cream, and a marshmallow actually exactly what, this tastes like and feels like so,what's your rating i'm gonna give this, like a a 6.3 not a 6.31 you sure oh yeah,i think i think 6.3 just flat, more sweets this one is called hanuta, super quick explanation hanuta it's,actually a short form of,nos, and that translates to hazel nut bar but, also this product has been around for, like decades must be like since the 50s,or something smells good i don't love, hazelnut stuff so like even nutella i,know people love nutella

breeze,i'm loving it already, yes thank you, thank you,oh yes you're done with this, thank you the wait is over the, schnitzels are here and it takes it took,at least 30 minutes for them to arrive,so they take their time to make it and, they make it fresh every single time, look at how huge these schnitzels are,oh and two different kinds oh it smells, incredible this one here is the hamburg, schnitzel and it is two giant pieces of,it's pork and then pounded flat and then, breaded and deep fried to it just that, golden crispy, beautiful and then this one is topped, with two eggs you can even see that the,egg is just perfectly jiggly and and not,all the way cooked and then this one is,with french fries and then the other one, here is a munich specialty schnitzel, again it's pork which is pounded thin, battered and deep fried but there's,horseradish within this recipe and then,on the bottom is a salad of potato and, cucumber and then served with a wedge of,lemon to squeeze on top i'm gonna grab, some silverware, knife fork combination,oh and i gotta begin with that egg right, now while it's hot and still still still, oozy you could choose from anywhere to,take your first bite but you know seeing, that uzi yoke i have to i have to break, that yolk first okay i'm going i'm gonna, let that yolk run oh,perfect,oh yes oh it's so oozy this is the type,of dish you want to make your first bite, count and,i'll get a good nugget of that with all, that egg yolk coating, well that's quite a quite a large bite, but oh but it's very thin and then there,is lemon as well to go with it but i,think i'll i think i'll go first with, just the natural taste of that,oh that's fantastic oh yeah that is,awesomely good,oh the the meat in there is very thin, and then it's a,it's a crunchy, almost like grainy because i think it's,uh fine breadcrumbs which are coating it,but it's just a whole like it's like a,crust of crunchiness and then with that, like eggy, oozy yolk all over it i'll take a bite,of only the let's take a bite of only, the the meat here, and check out the, check out the cross section on the, inside there you can see that it's yeah,it's very thin, and, yeah it's absolutely delicious,oh yeah that is everything you want,in a breaded, deep fried piece of meat next up for the, other one and this one there's,horseradish which i think is in the, batter and the batter with the bread, crumbs let me i'm going to slice this, one,in half so we can get that cross-section,look,oh yeah looking fantastic, and i'll just taste this,on its own first,oh look at that now it's quite meaty on,the inside there, immediately i can taste that horseradish, flavor kind of builds kind of builds,it's not strong enough to go up your, nose but you definitely can taste that,it's horseradish and,i love horseradish,oh that has a an extra twist of flavor,oh i love it it's excellent, and i also especially like that they, serve it really hot and fresh, you gotta eat something deep fried like, this when it's hot and fresh let me,revolve the plate over here so you can,get a good look at that potato salad um,it said potato salad with cucumbers,so oh yeah that's exactly what it is,oh it's like pickled cucumber so i love, the sourness of it and then of course, also on the table, they have ketchup and mayonnaise,i'll probably use some ketchup with my,with the fries, nice and crispy oh yeah, those are really good fries after you,eat a meal in germany you absolutely, have to lean back in your chair finished, with the schnitzel and heading out the, back entrance in the park but that was, incredibly good if you're a food lover, this is a must eat when you are in,munich

Comfort Food in Germany - Our German Comfort Food - 9 German Childhood Dishes

Comfort Food in Germany - Our German Comfort Food - 9 German Childhood Dishes

it seems like this year most of us gonna, spend valentine's day at home and, therefore i thought it's going to be a,great idea to show you some german, comfort food that you can enjoy with, somebody you love on this particular day,as you probably know comfort food, provides consolidation a feeling of,well-being and in many cases it is,associated with a childhood and harm, cooking in this video i will show you 10,of my favorite comfort foods and, hopefully inspire you to cook something, very nice also for yourself so now, without further ado let's just start, the first dish that i would like to,mention are the algorithes special with, rostaden look at this cheese and this, piece of meat carbs and fat oh yeah this,is comfort food for both of us this, delicious meal reminds me of the area, that is called ago where we spend our, summer holidays algo is located in the, german apps schpetzner is actually a,swabian speciality but here in igor they, serve it also with cheese but not any, kind of cheese it's a mixture of adam, romadua and beck caser which you can, substitute probably with gruyere they've,got extremely creamy texture and i,usually served with the fried onions on,the top, sviberospratan can be made in many, different ways in this restaurant we had,it as a steak thin slice of beef filled, with pickled cucumber mustard chopped, onions salt and pepper and then braised, for several hours, and served with potato dumplings or,spatzler and red cabbage and now you, know exactly that i am talking about the, german beef rolls in my family rouladen, was a sunday meal and because it was, always served on this festive occasions,is very special to me in matthias's,family they enjoyed roladen every, christmas because apparently his, grandmother from the father side made, the best ones german beef rolls i,usually serve either with spatzler and,red cabbage or potato dumplings and red, cabbage and of course a lot of sauce, next we are moving to the dishes that, you're probably not expecting to see in,this video and the first one of those is,the chicken soup chicken soup is a soup, that many people enjoy while being sick, but apparently eating chicken soup, brings some people back to date, childhood and let's be honest homemade, chicken soup is truly delicious, especially when it's served with those, incredible egg noodles and the rich, broth oh my goodness how much this, staple dish, brings joy and comfort in matthias's,family each time the grandma was making,a chicken soup she has also used the, broth to make another dish which is just, called in german hoona flickasse which,is another stolen dish with a french, name but apparently first attested in,england in the mid of the 16th century, although the dish isn't really german i,felt obligated to mention it the uma, version is pretty basic she didn't even, bother to add any vegetables to it it is,one of our favorite dishes after all, another comfort food for us are the, maotashin and that's kind of weird, because we don't come from swabia here,i'm not talking about any maotajan or,the maotashin that you know that are, served in the soup we both love, maotashin that are prepared in the pan, with the different kinds of vegetables,if you are not familiar with a german, cuisine i just wanted to mention very, briefly that the mao tation are swabian, dumplings that are filled with sausage, meat onion bread roll but also sometimes, with cheese and spinach filling as a,vegetarian version there's also another, favorite way of serving mao tajin and, this one is baked in the oven and, covered with a tomato sauce and cheese, but this version obviously doesn't have,to do anything with too many i am even, getting hungry when looking at them, right now another comfort food for many,of us would be the beef goulash which is,the dish that is inspired by hungarian, cuisine and consists of beef meat plenty,of onion that are first fried separately, then braised and spiced with a paprika, powder goulash can be served with, various different side dishes like, potato dumplings but also egg noodles, and schpezzler i know you were probably, already wondering when am i going to,mention the schnitzel and i bet that 90,of people in germany would actually put, schnitzel on the comfort food list i,wanted to show you a schnitzel variation, that many of you probably don't know and, this one is our frankfurt schnitzel, frankfurter schnitzel is served with, beautifully fried potatoes and the one,and only green sauce and i think this is,the dish that i love the most, the frankfurt green sauce is made of,seven different herbs that are grinded, and then mix with sour cream hard-boiled,eggs that are also grinded lemon juice, sugar salt and sometimes also pepper and, this is something what we are very proud,of here in frankfurt when it's about the, schnitzel people in germany also love, enjoying it with fried onions gypsy, sauce cream sauce hunter sauce or even, cocktail sauce and for those of you who, don't remember this is the traditional, dish of the area just right next to the, bestest garden a
