A Vintage Corning Ware, Corelle, & Pyrex Thrift Haul #164

I'm a chef here at 3101 welcome back to,my channel and if you're new welcome to,my channel I'm just stopping in as,promised today will be a-courting Pyrex, and Corral hope you enjoy, according butterfly gold right here I,picked up four mobs I paid 50 cents each, for them I think I bought a few a couple, weeks ago that's a look around and maybe, add them in and I think I hadn't,mentioned this is what makes me think I,didn't find a few a little while ago, that these are actually selling for more, than the Pyrex milk last ones which kind,of surprised me anyway these four right, here, maybe ten dollars I'll ask for them and,I was lucky to find two vegetable bowls,I did pay $2 a piece for him which is,kind of a lot but they are in unused, mint condition and I know that people, look for them and I'm probably gonna ask, about 16 for those as I said so this, whole tonight that you see here I've,kind of been squirreling stuff away just, for the last few weeks and I purchased, these I was amazed to have seen such a,great set at the enjoy thrift store they, were $4.99 apiece even though they're,all different sizes but they were 30%,off so I did pick them up and I'm not, sure whether I'm gonna sell them off as,a lot or not they're all in excellent, conditions and like my new goal this, year they all have lids, and they all have lids that are not, chipped open up a few here I'm not sure,if I'm gonna sell them walk individually,or it's a lot I did notice somebody sold,a lot similar to this for about $90 with, free shipping so I don't have to look, into it a little farther, this is spice of life they produce spice,of life it says Courtney by the way if,you didn't know I'm sure you did between,1972 and 1987 and they all sometimes, have different French words on them, right here l shall I wash a lot is,shallot and lush a lot the la Marr,Marjolaine I don't even know if I should, attempt it is Charlotte and marjoram, that's a herb a lot else shallots here, again chocolate excuse me and like here,I'm trying to speak French just throwing,me up a little bit la Pucelle lots, sausage lusts aged less age is simply, parsley and sage oh I'm glad I got that, out anyway I thought this was just a,great fight because they were all, together, got these and Clearmont a couple Fridays, ago when we were at the winery and did a,little thrifting and didn't find much, there but I did find these they were not, marked,I asked what they were they said they're,50 cents a mug and 25 cents a saucer,so that's 75 cents a set I bought nine, sets here they had two extra saucers I,wasn't going to purchase them that I,remembered in a video too before I had,two sauces two cups so I did pick up the, extra saucers, these are Corning you can see they're,beautiful, these are corny in the Old Town pattern, also known as Old Town onion a lot of,people call them onion 1972 to 1982 like,I said I paid 75 cents a set for these, all brand spankin good as new and I'm,going to ask about $4 a set I also found, this a goodwill the gravy boat, unfortunately did not have the under, plate I paid a dollar 50 for it both, sides of it are in really nice shape its,Pyrex ople where I'm going to ask about,$15 free ship for this, two perfectly beautiful caseros the,Pirates oppa we're in the town and, country pattern even though they looked,a little different they both have the, same star design here they're actually, produced well these are produced first, this plain one they produced between,1963 1967 they bought the gold pattern, here in in 1966 to 1967 and they're just, both of them are beautiful and you might, have seen them or have some that have a,yellow back to they also made yellow, this is a one and a half quart casserole, with a great lid on these lids I think,I've said it before a lot of people use, them as serving lids also they make, really good serving this and the two and,a half quart is in really nice shape, this one they don't really use as a lid,but you can see this they're in really, nice condition very very gently if at,all used and I'm not sharing and if I'm,going to list these separately or,together I'm about $25 the big ones go,for and about 15 for the smaller one if,I do decide to sell them individually, picked up a couple pieces of the good, old tried-and-true iconic cornflower, blue made between 1957 and 1988 super, long run I used to pick up a lot of,cornflower blue and then this market, just seemed to be saturated it kind of,seems to be making a little bit of a,comeback so I'm starting to pick up,pieces when I can when they're,affordable I paid $5.00 for both pieces, here you can see this has a lid Castro, with the perfect lid right here I think,I'm going to ask $12 for the covered, casserole and about six for the saucepan, this is the only piece in this haul that,I do believe I'm gonna keep and I was, super excited to find this I got it at,the enjoy store and before I get into it,I just want you to take a look at the, back logo I don't know if you can see, much of it or not I just want you to try,and notice that it does not

A History of Corning Ware and the Corning Ware Percolator

A History of Corning Ware and the Corning Ware Percolator

hi everyone and welcome to the vintage, company,my name is julie and i'm a corporate, historian and every video i take a look,at a different vintage consumer product, and the story behind it,and today's video is about the, corningware percolator a coffee maker, made from what corning called, rocket technology and this topic was, suggested by viewer adam so thank you, adam, and if anyone has a consumer product, they'd like me to talk about, please let me know in the comments below, the corningware percolator was made by,corning glassworks,a glass company was founded in 1851 and,had made a name for itself manufacturing, glass for railway lanterns incandescent, light bulbs and pyrex, durable glassware with applications in,both the laboratory and the kitchen, but it was an accident that would lead,to its most successful product, corningware in 1953 company scientist s,donald stokey put a piece of,photosensitive glass, into a furnace and accidentally set it,to 900 degrees, instead of the intended 600 degrees, stokey recalled when i came back the, temperature gauge was stuck on 900,degrees and i thought i had ruined the, furnace when i opened the door to the, furnace,i saw the glass was intact and had, turned a milky white,i grabbed some tongs to get it out as,fast as i could but the glass slipped, out of the tongs and fell on the floor, the thing bounced but didn't break it,sounded like steel hitting the floor, what stokey had accidentally discovered, was an extremely durable form of ceramic, glassware, capable with standing extreme heat, described as,lighter than aluminum harder than high, carbon steel and many times stronger, than glass, the company called the new material, piracy ram,in 1958 corning glassworks announced, piracyram to the worlds, the company envisioned thousands of,applications for the new material, including tubing laboratory flasks and, beakers ball bearings for supersonic, aircrafts, bulkheads for nuclear surface vessels, and nose cones on missiles, and of course for oven wear after all if,piracy rem could survive the heat from a,missile, the kitchen should be no problem corning, glassworks launched a new line of cook, and surfware made from pyrocram, called corningware early ads emphasized, corningware's connection to rocket and, space technology, rocketing into your life corningware, made from an astounding new missile, material, piracy ram for all its beauty it can't,crack from heat or colds, science created it to soar through, extreme temperatures at supersonic, speeds, undamaged now it comes into your life as,corning wear, leveling in its cradle on your table, phenomenal in its many uses, easiest to wash of all cooking wear, truly a one-dish wonder,an inspired gift corningware is,unconditionally guaranteed against, breakage from temperature extremes, corningware could go from freezer to,stovetop to oven to broiler to even a,grill, all without breaking and a detachable, handle easily transformed a pan to a pot, making it multifunctional by all, accounts corningware was a huge success, selling out by the end of its first year, and becoming the best-selling single, line of housewares by 1965.,in 1959 corning glassworks added both a,stovetop and electromatic percolator to,its corningware line, according to the company the percolator, would make the best coffee you ever, drink, its superior coffee taste was attributed,to its non-porous surface which was, incapable of absorbing flavors and odors, and easy to clean, stale odors simply cannot cling to its, immaculate white smoothness, the percolator had just one problem its, pyrocram surface could indeed survive, the extremes of the kitchen, but its handle could not there were, reports of the handle breaking spilling, scalding hot coffee everywhere, the trouble laid in the glue corning, used to affix the stainless steel band, that held the handle to the percolator, the glue was a new wonder material, called epoxy, epoxy was used in jets making it seem, safe for use in home goods, but a combination of dish detergents and,the thermal cycle of the dishwasher, caused the epoxy to fail and the handle,to detach, corning glassworks first recalled four, hundred thousand electric percolators, model e1210 in 1976.,but by 1979 the company had asked, customers to return, the lids of some 18.5 million, electric and stovetop percolators the, idea being that people wouldn't use the, percolators without the lid,by this point in time the company no,longer made percolators,so instead of replacements it offered, full partial cash rebates or discounts,on other corning products, depending on the age of the percolator, the voluntary recall was the largest of,its kind,at the time and cost corning glassworks, between 10 and 12 million dollars,by march 1980 some 2 million consumers, had responded to the voluntary recall, many others ignored it and opted to keep, their corningware percolators,in the 1980s a strong dollar meant, corningware faced, stiff competition from foreign, manufacturers who were able to produce, dinner and cookware faster and at a,lower cost, corny ware's em

Have a Rice Day with Corningware

Have a Rice Day with Corningware

leftover rice from last night again i'm,sure this is a common problem in all of,our kitchens and so is that feeling of,frustration because i for one definitely,do not want to serve my kids fried rice, again, luckily we have with us chef catherine, who's going to show us how to cook and, serve a very healthy recipe using, leftover rice hello chef cat hi mommy, leslie our recipe today is very timely, since november is national rice month, and at the same time thanksgiving oh,great so what are we going to prepare, today so today we have a healthy dish, that's using leftover rice,it's called chicken parmesan paella rice, you know usually chef what they think is,that it's only the gourmet chefs that, can prepare paella rice but we're really,so happy because moms at home can learn, how to prepare this healthy recipe a lot,of people have that notion but this one,we're making it easier by using cooked, rice okay great so let's get started, okay we can start by fluffing the rice,so i stored my rice chef cat using, corning ware yes and what's perfect, about this is it i can use it to store, and i believe i can use this to cook as,yes it's very versatile you can actually, put it in the freezer and then straight,to the fire right and you can serve with,it because of its design it is very, pretty so while you're doing that i can, already start sauteing our ingredients, actually the versatility of corning wear,is because of its makeup,so it is actually made of piracy ram,it can withstand extreme temperatures, yes and actually a trivia it is used by,nasa space shuttle wow,so i have technology used by nasa in my,own here,so now i'm adding the oil,and then we can start sauteing our, chicken once it's hot, this actually heats up very quickly, your right chest pack is really heated,up very quickly,so we have to season our chicken, with some salt, and pepper, what's also nice about using corning, where it doesn't retain the stains from, food because it is non-porous and at the, same time it actually prevents bacterial, growth because you can clean it very, well so this is,done you can already transfer to a place, and then we are gonna cook in the same, time, also,so we can start by adding a little more, olive oil,so we can saute our garlic and onion, and you just have to wait for it to get,a bit soft,we're adding our cherries next and also, the pigmenton, normally what gives paella its yellowish, orange color is from the saffron right, today we're not using that but instead,we're using paprika and some tomatoes, yes, and also because of the chorizo you'll,get that same effect, and then you can already, turn off the fire, add our drinkings,we have a lot of healthy ingredients, and vegetables are very important, and i guess what a lot of moms don't,think of is being able to cook in the, right cookware because a lot of times we,prepare very healthy ingredients but, then we cook in something that's not, very healthy, you can already top it with a sauteed, chicken in here, let's put our, marinara sauce wow,i believe chef cat the concern with, adding in the tomato sauce is that, there's a tendency for this to stain, yes so actually with corning wear it,doesn't react to acidic, okay and then we're gonna top it with, mozzarella,oh cheese, and to finish it off, parmesan, okay so we're ready to put it in the, oven,we just have to bake it for about 10 to,12 minutes until the cheese smells on,top all a bit brown, wow chef looks really good so here we,have our chicken parmesan paella rice, cooked and baked healthy and corning, here, wonderful,so uh yeah let's serve this chef a try, wow,it's hard to believe that that was the, leftover rice, from last night, there you go,okay so i guess i'll give it a taste, okay this is the, fun, you part,it's delicious i love the cheese with, the tomato sauce and there's no metal, taste at all,it really tastes and feels very healthy,it's very clean tasting and forward, you're just going to taste the, ingredients itself, great and looking at this chef it's,really so beautiful because i use my,corel plate and it's a perfect match for,my cornwall cookware so i can serve it,using corny wear and eat it using real, food this is one dish that does it all, that's right because you won't cook, something healthy and something, unhealthy this is healthy home cooking, made easy with cornwall, you

What is your Corning Ware worth?

sorry nana you're said a corning ware is,not worth 30 bans on ebay okay that was, done by some antique shop somewhere, looking to artificially raise the price,so they could sell them for more these, two cuties here were found at a habitat, for humanity and they're almost fully, restored this is dirty from getting, handled today uh,the rear screws are heat glued so,they'll never rust uh the bands have, been polished you know they're i i,didn't work on the handles because i'm,no good at working on plastics but,uh,i mean that was seven dollars for the, both of them you know just they're,they're not worth anything this one over, here,it's it's not worth anything like the,the fact of the matter is is the only,it's only ever worth what the next, idiot's willing to pay for it this, handle, for these, this today,i found it and it was four dollars i'm,no good at doing this one-handed either, there yeah this handle was four dollars, you know the that the visions over here,it was four dollars like just they're,they're not worth much they aren't now,are they desirable is the old stuff like, this desirable absolutely, okay because corningware has changed as,a matter of fact i've got some modern, stuff over here, which we don't talk about these these, were a mistake we don't use these, corning ware, french white made in china versus over, here corningware pyroceram made in usa, focus, thank you and so i mean just they're,they're not the same these are not the, same family glasses they they are not, this is,some different kind of porcelain it's,not pyroceramic like this is this is,this is that is the visions is,uh even pyrex now,is not the same uh it's all made by a,company called world kitchen llc i,believe, and uh,pyrex which used to be made out of,borosilicate glass which is what you, want is now made out of soda lime glass, and i recall here recently somebody's,melted in the microwave, melted glass,in the microwave and then everybody, blamed the microwave, but it's pyrex it's supposed to be safe,is it not, that's kind of their whole thing, but no not anymore now it's just garbage,so,old pyrex,is what you want a way to tell too if,the logo is in all capital letters,it's old it's what you want,if it's in the lowercase letters which, the modern ones you buy at walmart are,you don't want those, okay,so,roll of thumb, good corning wear is old corningware, good pyrex is old pyrex good visions is,good visions yes this is pyrex this pan, here is made out of pyroceram which that,is that is that is all of corningware, used to be until whatever that garbage,is so,still doesn't mean it's worth twelve, hundred dollars for a teapot

I am a CorningWare Nut! Displaying my (Small) Collection

I am a CorningWare Nut! Displaying my (Small) Collection

foreign, hey everyone sophia here for my great, challenge welcome back to my channel,it's a happy day for me today i get to,play with my corning wear yes i am,um boring you may say uh well not really, because i'm to do some cleaning too,the kitchen is clean uh but i just want,to tell you what i'm doing today,um so if you remember for those of you,who follow me for a while i'm a corning, wear, nut there's actually a facebook group, called corningware nuts, and apparently i'm not the only one who, collects calling corningware, there's a lot of people out there it's a,big community and some people collect, all the patterns obviously they have big, storage or they collect just, one pattern i collect one pattern mine,is spice of life,uh it's from the 70s so it's my age,and the reason why i collect that one is,not just because i like the colors and,it's very kitchen,um cooking oriented i'll show it to you,in a second we probably never seen it,before, but it's also written in french so it's,got,a lot of different things that are, attractive to me i love cooking with, corningware corningware is awesome,i hear there's a big comeback for, corningware people are going to,the stores the thrift stores and flea, market whatever to get the old corning, way or asking their moms and grandmas, for their, corning wear because it just doesn't get, dirty it's easy to clean you can put it,in the oven you can put it on the stove,on gas,and electric and you can put in the, freezer in the fridge on the table it's,super versatile, and it's just awesome okay enough, coating wear advertisement but i have, quite a few pieces,as you can see uh but these are um,just the cooking pieces that i have but,i also have the functional, kind of accessories and unfortunately, for me i don't have any place to put, them,so they are so they are all the way up,there and in there i have,a percolator that i found uh,and then the rest were gifts from you, guys, and also have canisters um hold on,i use three of them here for my tea, they made everything but the kitchen, sink in that pattern by the way so i use, three of them for tea,uh i have a little gray in there and, then,i put my um,what do you call it splenda in it so i'm,using those but i have three more, canisters on the other side that, are empty and that's about it oh,wait that's not true i also have a,heating plate and on top of the fridge, over there,i have the placemats i'm telling you, they made everything but the kitchen, sink in that pattern, they had fabric they had clocks they had,a piggy bank, they had uh the tea which i'm still, looking for,the tea kettle they had the teapot they, had uh,forks and knives and cooking utensils, and,um the crock-pot,everything but the kitchen sink so,i decided that since i use it,and since i enjoy it and since i'm in,the kitchen pretty much every day, three times a day either cooking or,cleaning,or editing videos that i might as well, just be able to,gaze and enjoy my corning wear and so,what i did is that i went on,one of my mini codingware um facebook, page, and i asked hey where do you guys store, and display, your corningware so the majority of,people actually display the corningware, collection um the overflow goes into a,different room, but the majority of collectors actually,do display they don't just put them in,cabinet and close the door they want to,enjoy, and look at the collection which makes, sense why have a collection of something, and then put it behind a door a cabinet, door unless it's a glass door and you're,not able to see it unless you open the, door,so there was a little bit of everything,of course some people have huge, kitchen and like me so they have an,entire wall, imagine that or a whole butler's pantry, full of corning wear in one pattern or,whatever,uh or they would have a set of shelf, they had a bookcase so they have like, specific cabinets for that,i don't have that all my cabinets are, pretty much used except for this one, over there, what i do have of weather is a space, above the sink, and here it is let me uh move the shape, down so we can see,a little bit better is it better it's,the same okay,so here it is back in the days i had, scott installed the shelf right here,um for my bonsai and,it killed them because i do get sunshine,in the morning coming this way and then,it goes so the sun would kind of like, rotate on this window for, about four hours and it fried them,i killed my bonsai with the shelf it was,a bad idea,uh do i want to get bonsai again i don't,know i really don't have, the time um i would love to have them, but i just don't know where to put them,um you know so i can enjoy them see them, and care for them at the same time so,my two bombs i are dead um,oh well but i was thinking since,i'm not the only one who loves, corningware and there's so many people, who put them as display,i was asking for people hey where do you,put them in your kitchen, and there was a lot of people actually, put them above the sink on the kitchen, window there's a lot of people have, glass shelves where they p

VINTAGE CORNINGWARE SPICE OF LIFE COLLECTION

VINTAGE CORNINGWARE SPICE OF LIFE COLLECTION

hey everyone welcome back to my channel,or welcome if you're new here, thank you so much for stopping by so,today i'm going to share with you my,corningware spice of life collection,um,and i was inspired to do this because i,got a new piece, and i needed to,redo the shelves to make room for it,so i took them all down and washed them, and i'm thinking about redoing like the, entire section of my kitchen,so the spice of a life pattern was, actually introduced in 1972,and i believe they were making it up,until the late 80s,and i actually just learned that it is,or was the, second most popular pattern to collect, which i wasn't,aware of before that but i guess that, makes sense why it's a little easier to,find than some other patterns my,favorite corning wear pattern is,actually country festival, which i just learned that they only made,i think for one or two years which makes, sense why,it's not as commonly found like i know,i've never seen a piece in all my ears, thrifting,at a thrift store or anything, and this was also the year they changed, the shape and made it more like flush i,believe they widened the handles as well,so we'll start with my newest piece it's,been, probably a month or two since i,got it i found it on the facebook, marketplace for twenty dollars but it is,the 10 cup percolator it's in amazing, condition even the inside,it was missing the inside part but it,doesn't really bother me because i was, just going to,you know display it anyway i wasn't,gonna try to use it at any time,um but i just got really excited that it,was only twenty dollars because i live,in canada and if i was to try and um buy, this from ebay it probably cost like 25,to 30,just for shipping, plus the cost of you know the item, itself, which is why it's hard,to buy unless you're just buying, something from canada but even within, canada shipping is kind of insane,so i was very excited to find this, locally and for only 20 dollars, and have it be in such great condition, and then next we have the teapot i,believe this is six cups,um it's not uh in as good of condition,as the coffee pot um the inside, definitely looks like well used,um it does have like a few marks on it,too i,i have made it look better but i'm a,little frightened to go like too hard, with the magic eraser around the design, part so you don't want to you know mess,it up but i believe i found this for, maybe six or seven dollars i think i,found this at a thrift store i've had, this piece, for quite a few years now,so next we have the 1.5,quart,saucepan i believe it's what it's called, now i live in canada so this piece is,canadian so they're actually labeled as,being in leaders so it says 1.5 liters,i believe a liter might be a little more, than a quart but i guess they just sort,of made it even because that sounds, better than,1.6 or whatever it is,um this one,i don't have the lid too though it just, came like that i believe i found this in,value village just,as it is,so then we have the three quart saucepan,or,in my case the three liter and i,actually have two of these so,one has the writing underneath of the, pattern and the other one doesn't i,don't know if they um,you know just release them at different, times with writing without because i,have some with writing some without but, they are both still corningware, and both of these pieces are in really, good shape the design and on the inside,a little worn on the bottom but i think, that's to be expected, and the one has the pattern,um name stamped in the handle, you can see that it's three liter and, then the other one actually just has it,stamped like on the,on the bottom part, and i found one of these in just a,random thrift store probably for,i don't know i want to say like maybe, five six maybe seven dollars, and the other one i bought from an,elderly woman in her 80s at,a yard sale or a church sale i can't,remember but she was so sweet i actually, got a bunch of pieces from her and,i want to say i got maybe three or four, pieces from her and the one i got from, her came with a lid so i do have a lid,for one of them, and i also got this, five quart or five liter i think they, call this a dutch oven from her as well,in great condition and this one um did, come with a glass lid as well i feel, like i got three four maybe five pieces, from her in total, and it might have been like 50,so maybe around 10 a piece i don't know, and in addition to the, glass lid i got this plastic one that, you can put on over, and,it also fits on another piece that's the, same size,so this piece is the, same size it's just not as tall so both, the glass, and the plastic, lid fits on this one as well which is,kind of nice for stacking for a display, also in really great shape, and so according to the code on this one,it's called a 10 inch skillet which,i wouldn't call this skillet so,i'm confused about maybe canada possibly, having different codes like for, different products but i don't know i,looked up a list online and i think it's,just for american,so then we have what is called the six,and
