hi I'm Craig Samantha I'm sure glad to,have you here at the Alhambra Theatre,today I think you're gonna enjoy your,experience we've got a great show and a,great meal prepared for you sit down,relax and try the Alhambra like you've,never seen heard or tasted before,welcome to our homicide,welcome to the Alhambra could I get the,last names of your reservation here's,your receipt in playbill you're welcome,to go ahead into the lounge and have a,drink and relax or if you'd like to go,ahead and be seated you're welcome to go,to either archway and a hostess will be,happy to show you to your table,hi how are you can I help you I'm what,you need sure hi welcome to the iconic,al hombro theater and dining the,Alhambra is the longest-running,professional dinner theater in the,United States of America it's been here,since 1967 behind the scenes at the O,hammers a lot of things that a lot of,people don't know that goes on for,example we build our own sets we,actually have a 3,500 square foot,warehouse where we're building sets for,every single show so we've got another,facility we're actually doing all the,costuming for the Alhambra so there's a,lot going on behind the scenes here,we've got a state of the art lighting,system state of the art sound system one,of the things that a lot of people don't,understand about the Alhambra is what a,big employer it is we employ 72 people,between our wait staff between our,technical staff obviously the actors,that come and go between the office,staff the box office staff so a pretty,big part of the employment community and,the job creating community here in,tactical as well as part of the new,alhambra experience we brought in our,own executive chef duan roy fresh from,95 cordova and st. augustine the best,part of coming you know to the Alhambra,to work is obviously it you know it's,the type of environment that is so fun,and whimsical,if you're one of the foodie types here,in town please come out and experience,the new out Humber cuisine it is,absolutely fantastic cutting edge some,sustainable stuff some cutting edge,stuff and some of your all-time,favorites my team you know they they,love to come to work and we have a great,time back there in a kitchen and you,know it's a lot of hard work a lot of,long hours but the reality of it is you,know we're doing exactly what we love to,do when I started working here I fell in,love with the place I'm a theater guy I,grew up in Boston I get theater never,have I been involved with something so,authentic so real so professional as the,Alhambra but you know what I work here,it doesn't matter what I have to say,about the Alhambra let's hear from some,of the people that are here tonight and,hear what they have to say about their,experience great entertainment I enjoy,the food a great location and we can't,wait to come back it's great I love it I,like the staff they're really welcoming,and they really like welcome you in you,just feel like you're at home and the,shows are wonderful I tell them hey you,get to see a good play and you get a,good meal love the new bar area love the,food the seating is every seats a good,seat the value here is spectacular,because I'm getting a gourmet meal I'm,getting all that and an outstanding show,how can you beat this,thanks for coming I hope you enjoyed the,show tonight look forward to having you,back again real soon,you

welcome back to River City live it is,Friday the 13th and we had to bring some,family I mean it's my family because I'm,in Adams in we have the Addams Family on,set with us today so thank you guys for,coming to visit us absolutely you know,and I'm glad you guys came and are,staying at Hotel because I don't think I,could feed everybody but you know it's,always good to bond sorry,no and I don't think my menu would,coincide with what you guys like it's a,big thing you guys are here performing,at the Alhambra Theatre and the Addams,Family big big show and you guys a lot,of you or most of you are from out of,town we've got a local we'll talk to you,in a second but what can people expect,when they come out to see the show well,you're gonna get a show that's a lot of,fun you're gonna get a good meal cuz,it's a beautiful thing the short rib you,got to try the short oh okay and TAS can,I get two yeah okay yeah if they,actually give it to you I was like you,know man yeah and they have vegetarian,options and everything like that too so,you you know everybody and just expect,to laugh a lot,enjoy yourselves great date movie cuz,it's a little funny a little scary so,you got that and you're just gonna have,a great time now how closely do you your,show resemble the TV show cuz I grew up,watching this years ago didn't really,correlate the family aspect but I,haven't a little weird my own said so I,think I could fit in with you guys,yeah it's eccentric yes eccentric I,think that we pay homage to it but I,think we put our own little spin on it,okay Sean Astin wasn't Spanish per se in,the show but I do it very Spanish kind,of like in jaegerman toy from Princess,Bride yeah and she does a great spin on,Morticia what would you say is it more,I'd say it's kind of a combination,between the original comics written by,Adams the TV and the movie versions so I,feel like we've all kind of taken those,versions and mix them up and added our,own little special spice oh I like that,amalgamation if you will I like that so,we've got gomez Morticia,I forgot the aunt's name oh that's,Wednesday lurch yep lurch faster faster,and our man Pugsley now Pugsley you're,from around here and we were joking,earlier you have been off-broadway but,they seem to be amongst group performing,in front of friends and family it's so,much fun they're a lot of fun to work,with we always joke around it's just a,lot of fun I have some such a good time,did you ever think that you would have,this opportunity to perform with actors,from where you've been,they're coming to your home no I I never,thought that but such a great experience,all right you need to hit him up find,out where the good restaurants are,around town you guys are gonna be,performing through November 12 yes that,is major yeah are you guys ready for,that we're ready for that and we're,almost sold out so get your tickets fast,because we're almost sold out oh nice,90% I believe 90% now were you expecting,something like that to happen when,you're freaked I don't think any anybody,they said this is the best selling show,they've ever had at the Alhambra Theatre,so you guys are gonna basically set up a,residency is that what I'm hearing like,if they wanted keep changing our,costumes but they wanted this thing well,I know Wednesday has got an apartment,thing she's dealing with in New York so,she's not today she's dead she's not,she's like I'm put that money down I'm,going back home eventually right awesome,awesome so we're gonna give everybody,just a little sample of what they can,expect when they come to the show,fantastic let's do it all right,it's the Addams Family dotted that out,you have to hover,when Adams you need to really love you,at least twice a day you're happy when,your toes,you have to really serve,is all tonight way to represent family,this is my family the Addams family,we're gonna fit together so well,so the performances are going down on,select nights through November 12th at,the Alhambra Theatre if you would like,to find tickets to see The Addams Family,and you got to do it fast cuz we're,almost sold out there's no standing room,only you got to get them now you can,find out all that information on our,website River City live tv.com and click,on the as seen on our CL tab thank you,guys for joining us all right so uh,let's go to dinner let's do it yeah,we'll be back,oh we're going to eaten right now we're,going to dinner okay evening

Alhambra Dinner Theater Returns with a Classic (FCL June 12)

well things are finally getting back,open and one of those things is one of,our favorites folks the Alhambra Theatre,is back open folks I'm joined now by,Craig Smith managing partner over there,Craig this is a big week for you guys,I'm really happy for you,I promise Kurtis we are as well thank,you so much we appreciate that it's been,a long time coming so Cinderella you,guys are showing Cinderella and and and,how have you guys happening obviously,you got to adapt there's things you got,to changes you've had to make but talk a,little bit about that obviously the,changes it certainly the biggest is just,the number of sites you know for 53,years you come to the Alhambra and you,never know that you were going to sit,with and you made great friends and new,friends and what's a while you had one,maybe you didn't like so much but for,the most part people made great new,friendships well with social distancing,obviously you'll be sitting with your,family or your friends only when you,come that's a big one of the other fun,things is somebody I'd be walking around,I need one of those little cleaning,robots you know like you see on George,Jetson walking around wiping all the,surfaces every five minutes and we're,gonna do that it just won't be a robot I,love it alone and the show the first,show back is Cinderella right so excited,such a great family show it was pretty,much it sold very well before we stopped,selling tickets you know due to due to,Chrome and so we have we have some seats,left obviously we have everybody spaced,out the way that we should you know six,feet and the good news is for those who,like their own private table now you get,one now that is that's true that's one,of the things people have always asked,about can I have my own private table,and now you can but this is a show you,guys have put on before right yeah very,first somewhere that I own the theater,we did Cinderella and it was a smash hit,then and it is amazing the cast,Todd did a great job a lot of local,folks in this one and so we're very,excited Taj granddaughter,is actually our Cinderella this year,very cool and it's the it's the Rodgers,and Hammerstein version right at a,rework about six or eight years ago and,and so you know me being a,traditionalist I I tend to like the,older homeschool one but this was funny,gets a neat little it's a neat little,current gig in it and people who love it,and I did I had to check out the menu my,man you put you put some vegetarian,plant-based options on there for me I,love it there's a pumpkin soup there's,some other stuff too pumpkin soup is,excellent it's a chilled soup with,roasted pumpkin seeds it is really good,I also saw you had a barbecue bowl with,some BBQ jackfruit and I know folks,there are other meat dishes but I'm only,talking about the dishes that I like,okay let me tell you something if they,ordered the BBQ jackfruit they wouldn't,know if it was a meat dish or not,it tastes excellent he does it over a,bed of baked beans and he cut the fruit,up so it got is like a meat bowl if you,would it is again clearly I'm not a,vegetarian I'm from the south but it is,an excellent dish people are gonna love,it we did the tasting last week nobody,believed it was vegetarian all right all,right Craig look I know it's different,you can't buy tickets online now how can,folks get tickets six four one one two,one two,we've still got great seats left,particularly the last few weeks of,performance this week pretty sold out,but we got seats the beauty about the al,hammer is there's not a bad seat in the,place I'm so happy for you guys man I'm,really really excited for the Alhambra,Theatre to be back,Curtis thanks so much for all you've,done for us and keeping us in people's,minds and hearts alright folks give them,a call go check it out,and we'll put this on the website you,can check it out again just go to First,Coast living dotnet

"Ain't Misbehaven" is at the Alhambra Dinner Theatre

a new show is at the alhambra it's,called ain't misbehavin a tribute to,musicians of the 1920s and 1930s who,were part of the Harlem Renaissance,joining us now our cast members Tara,Connor Jones and you have a whole slew,of folks with you this morning,yes mr. Cody and then I'll let you two,introduce everybody else a Metria,name I love it so people at home if,they're obsessed with the Harlem,Renaissance the 1920s the 1930s if they,come out to alejandra what are they,going to see what can they expect to see,oh my gosh the costumes for Warren are,going to transport them back to the,roaring 20s and the 30s the music of,Fats Waller the dance the rhythm of the,night that's all they need what's your,favorite part sir my favorite part is,course I'm singing the music of Fats,Waller who was who died young at 39 but,he wrote some incredible songs we got,squeeze me what was his first published,song and we got honeysuckle rose which,led him to his his incredible fame and,popularity at the time so and part of,that there's a story right Fats Waller,was actually kidnapped by Al Capone to,perform at his birthday party he left a,gig he was doing in Chicago he was,approached by four men kidnapped taken,to the hostel on hotel which is owned by,Al Capone it's been three days,celebrating,isn't that something so this that is,very awesome so this show is very lively,it's very upbeat it takes place inside a,jazz club,yes I'm going to let you take it away,and give us a little snippet all right,pleasure meeting you,likewise,you okay I know for sure no one not at,all I'm stupid flirting it's you that,I'm thinking of a misbehavin I'm saving,my love for you oh hi Daddy,honey told Kanaka a misbehavin I'm,saving my love for you,I'm saving my love for you,in the corner,Hey

We're Off To See The Wizard Oz Dinner Show | Alhambra Theatre & Dining Jacksonville FL

hey jacksonville we are back,showing you all some love,the wizard of oz today,we're at the alhambra theater and dining,for showing of the wizard of oz never,been up this way this is almost stop two,for us this year on the oz tour we,started at the turn of the year with,this new wizard of oz museum out in,cocoa beach florida,check out that video up here and later,this year we'll be back at the land of,oz,up in beech mountain north carolina,widget of oz one of our favorite movies,and stories of all time,the alhambra theater this little dining,and play action happening,not including that siren i'm getting,rained on while i talk out here but i,don't know how much i can film inside i,suspect it's much like any other theater,that you go to where no filming or,pictures allowed,here's what it looks like inside,a little photo op here with dorothy in,the emerald city,we have a little lounge here before the,show,silent auction happening,the alhambra theater is the longest,running or oldest running,dinner theater,in the country opened in 1967.,we've got special wizard of oz drinks,here,the drinks,pretty strong i feel like i might be in,austin,we've got our playbill equivalent the,stage light by the way yes i am wearing,jeans with the shirt and,some loafers i,suggested dress was business casual here,suggested,i don't think anyone in jacksonville was,going to wear business casual but,i'm kind of surprised,so this theater also makes their own,sets,behind the scenes,talent here,and on the horizon we have grumpy old,men and ghosts the musical here as well,as like a late night performance of,rocky heart picture show and some,one-off shows with elvis,barbra streisand,here's a list of the cast characters,there's the wizard of security,synergy and advertising,and they do have a live dog as toto,and in his free time he loves the beach,bacon and chasing geese,this is what it looks like inside,here are our seats which is really weird,kind of sit with strangers,right opposite of you,so if that's a bother for you during,still like prolonged confide or virus,is what it is,but this is the way everything else,looks in here,it's really cool,this is our menu for the night,so the seating is really cool it,actually honestly reminds me a little,bit of medieval times,but the only thing is like if you're,sitting further back you're not really,seeing the front of the stage if the,actors go to the front but the stage,setup is kind of like right in this area,and the front row seats are kind of like,the premiere seats but you're looking up,at people like right in front of you i,think the second row might be the best,i will say the stranger sitting opposite,of you if you're not here at the party,of four,or the larger party where people are,sitting together like six over there,it's really weird because they put the,two seats together you don't sit,one and one,so,you're literally having like people like,breathing right on your plate,and so the show for the matinee starts,at 1 50 the seeding started at 12,and the food service starts at 12. so,food service runs i think from 12 until,1 30.,so you're not like munching away while,the show is ongoing here,and one other thing it is like going to,a broadway play or any other type of,theater there's no photos or video,during the production so we'll give you,our review or a take afterwards,and finally this is not a sponsored,video we pay for this ourselves the,price for today's matinee was somewhere,in like the 60 per person range but,before i get inu dated with people,asking how much of things cost check,their website because the cost per play,could be different,and here is our,salad emerald greens,get it,darkly shoes,ruby slippers,mellow stage right now,this is mary's,and chicken carbonara,and now i'm ready to go to sleep,mary got the prince dessert peaches and,cream,and i've got a chocolate and strawberry,cupcake,well 20 minutes before showtime it is,pretty full up in here sold out for this,run,so we wrapped with our wizard of oz,theater and dining experience at the,alhambra,theatre,yep,i thought it was a really good time i,thought it was amazing i think we would,have to break it down into two different,sections though the food,and the entertainment yeah and the food,um i would probably rate like a three,and a half out of five um my meal was,pretty good,so i would do like four,so maybe at 3.75 altogether,my food was swimming in,the,lightly,cream sauce,or light cream sauce but um overall it,was good,it just um it wasn't fantastic and,that's kind of like what they advertised,on the website but it was good,drinks were great oh drinks were,fantastic service was phenomenal so,you know good experience,the theater experience i'd probably say,it's like a,five out of five for me oh it it's just,incredible i don't i've never been to,something risky,light props a lot of moving of the the,items around but mostly just character,focused everybody knows the story of the,wizard of oz at this point,um but,really well done

so we are on stage at the Mort and the,boys are just they're not so this is,just a quick guide of a deal on a chilly,gank as industry as straightforward as,small normal people would think so what,happens is the boys came in every door,was also an engineering Stevie there,Steve Ward's a PA company that we use,and nothing like a Ricky he's a Ricky,does the late and all the guys at school,say to them so they come in up at the,back eight,in fact those looky there so they they,come in they set up the stage what the,band do the anomaly over but half-past,eleven twelve o'clock for a 3-quart,about three years before I fuel we get,there just basically when you come to,something like this you just get a blank,blank stage so we put their razors on,now we connect them all so that are,moving drum kick goes on there for,cutting grass and keys all of those ones,along looks like the bats are gonna be,standing because we are phrases here but,not a major then what you get as oen say,what happens is for here you've got,young and yo these program lights no he,does that please you so he can dictate,what happens or neat song with every cue,and every button piece it goes on to,make the show the chili show but Alvin,and the show kicks in and he's gonna,move to the back so it just it makes it,easier for focus and stuff that so,anyway we'll come back so,and all the cool thing about this this,cake is that we have a pipe and normally,joined us and you're single mate will,really put the paper and we have an,answer on this because,did you know that this is al hombro,paper and retina that's here and this,one by well he would do is like five,star movement and he would just pop up,and go aha,in the middle of the stage so the first,time you did this as well they actually,took her all the seats here and it holds,an extra four hundred people but the,seats have to go back in because of,stole pant work and here's a young man,who owns a building Bell so we're just,talking about has to the cellies here,then it means the one absolutely it's,become one of these local legends and,the is grown and grew over the years,from 2007 was the first one you were,just talking about eighty the December,we were young main so the pleasure and I,smoke so yeah so we've got that's a nice,spot there so you can buy these again,another thing is amazing to think that,over the course of the sixteen years,we've developed the whole product Wayne,and people buy our CDs and t-shirts and,hoodies is just very fortunate that we,managed to come up with a the Chile logo,again I'm not really sure I think it was,just an artist we got to make of a,t-shirt and well that's pretty cool and,there's never really changed much as,probably we are all named let's just die,a remarkable,Twista feat the honest answer so quickly,there,Isis where all the partners all arrived,so we have seats for those suits or,upstairs hope you know it's just ki1 so,this is half way we're gonna get,here we have it the top deck to Royal,boxes as well on US aid and rest in fact,about them rotten for viewing we're,gonna test them in the month,particularly the bottom two because the,PA stacks cut your line of sight and I'm,still a bit so yeah must be played cap,if you get a seat so darling what did,you get me for Christmas I caught you do,your Red Hot Chilli paper stickers and,the rate of the back plate loss nobody,behind you,these would probably live in the best,seats in house actually,really really incredible view of the,speech attached to the test and the PA,system or regulate the system just know,I think I can talk quite a mousou ya,know some years actually in the funny,part is a vlookup this guy there is a,handy sometimes gets a hold off so it,started snowing here and this year look,of terror on people's face when you see,panto snow which is just white flakes,and stuff coming down on them as quick,clearly it is people think on stage you,can't see ever you can actually see,quite a walk coming in the code you can,see people's faces and early actions or,stuff like this honest they're quite,amazing just sent standing on that stage,watching everybody's reaction in here,and as we said and we know 12 o'clock,and fioors team will be 1137 people and,their own this venue let's go on to the,next st the upper royal box again being,honest,what are you even more so late so I'm,staying here to see you but no KL if you,sit yourself down,what can you see nah doesn't do it for,me,you,last port core saw from a distance is,Metz amazing one of the things I'm gonna,do away from being in the chilies or I,already do is I'm very fortunate that I,own apartment s and my company called,Jim Siegel SP engineering people have,come and gone and there's been,opportunities for new people to come in,with new ideas which I believe as I said,probably kept it fresh if we were the,same characters for 16 years it probably,would have finished a long time ago,whereas it's constantly evolving it's,almost no seen as pro where throughput,of people want to

the alhambra has another great show,coming to town but before it gets to the,actual alhambra so much is done in this,building right here so we're going to,learn all about the process and what,they have to do to get ready for opening,night but right now i'm a little,overdressed because it's the rock of,ages so i think i have to get into,character,right now i'm with ron perry he is one,of the actors so let's just start out,with an overview what's the storyline to,this musical well the uh it's it's the,80s and uh drew our uh our protagonist,uh has moved to the sunset strip to try,to make a a,a career out of rock and roll as many,did in the 80s all right that was the,yeah that's what you did in the 80s and,speaking that that's what you did in a,way right so you live this lifestyle,that's exactly what i did in the 80s i,was playing in bar bands in detroit and,i joined a band out of orlando that had,a record deal and some of the guys lived,in jacksonville which is how i end up in,jacksonville and uh we did an album in,1988 uh called the band was called china,sky,and um,yeah i mean a lot of it's parallels so,you know i've been typecast i'm,basically playing myself you haven't,left the 80s and there's nothing wrong,with that no i'm still there yeah it's,still relevant still current i love it,let's talk about the music so,it's really like the hits to that time,period that even today even if kids,start listening to it it makes them move,it's songs that everybody is going to,know and love i mean they're familiar,they've been around for,years and years and and everybody knows,these songs and everybody can sing along,it's you know i mean and,you know people will be dancing in their,in their seats and in the aisles i'm,sure and one of these i want to talk,about too it's interesting so rehearsals,are done here you do that for several,weeks and then all of a sudden,you're at the alhambra so not a lot of,time to get everything dialed in for the,audience right no no and uh um i mean,you know i'm not really an actor i'm,playing myself so this is my first,method acting yeah,this is my first experience of acting so,uh everybody else here has has a lot,more experience at that and i'm just,kind of uh following along i'm learning,a lot as i go along todd our director,has been fantastic helping me out with,uh um,you know,my movements and and what i'm supposed,to do where i'm supposed to be on stage,and all that kind of stuff and you know,like i i i you know i know i can sing,acting is a new thing,right now i'm with cindy so cindy talk,about who do you play in this musical i,play the role of sherry christian she's,very much like myself she's an aspiring,actress and she moves to the sunset,strip from paola kansas small town girl,and she just has big dreams of being a,rock star being an actress just being,famous,and she runs into some trouble along the,way and then talk about the story line,because,basically all of these top hits from the,80s,kind of are put together where they tell,a story yeah yeah it's um it's really,interesting how it all fits together,because you have sherry which there's a,song oh sherry,and she sings a lot of songs like uh i,want to know what love is um sister,christian her name is sherry christian,um but it goes along for all of the,characters like drew um he wants to rock,so he sings i want to rock,every rose has its thorn is like the,signature song of the show where all the,characters come together and seeing it,because they're all going through these,battles so all the songs just really,go along with the story,right now i'm with carson carson i was,just talking to sydney and i was asking,were you a fan of this type of music,before you started to train for this um,well actually i actually grew up,listening to one of the one of my,favorite singers when i was younger i,didn't actually listen to rock but i do,love bruce springsteen so i have a,little bit of background in the rock you,know kind of category but this is a,completely new spin i mean doing it all,the time it really adds a new like light,to it i'm i'm uh you know growing a,respect for for this kind of music it's,nice and one of the things too you have,great vocals it is hard to hit these,notes right because it's a combination,of like a controlled screen along with,pitch absolutely and having a good voice,with it but you do a great job of,blending it out was that a challenge yes,no absolutely it really came down to you,know just pacing myself and knowing that,since we're going to be singing this,music all the time it really just you,know it takes um a measurement that you,have to do when you're and also a little,bit of faith you've got to just scream,sometimes so a mixture of everything,will make it come out,you
