welcome to common cocktails I'm your,godly Doug Peterson we're making the,stair this recipe is simple two,ingredients 2 ounces brandy 1 ounce of,creme de menthe white that way doesn't,impact the color because it would,probably it should be shake a strain,that's it,after dinner Trek touch cross-check,because that's all it's just for,after-dinner hydrogen there people like,mint I don't really know why but mint,and brandy to me doesn't sound like a,good idea and when I looked up some,recipes including Aston Curtis he had a,completely different recipe it didn't,even have these ingredients in it so I,don't know but there were a lot of Jesus,I know how about I do this so that we,don't have a big ol mess Oh looking,drunk on your Lumia lardo I'm I'm just,playing that nothing that you're good,and then that's it shake crushed ice,that is that is definitely some mint can,I have some icing this gosh here I smell,nice ma'am no I went out I looked for at,some point I was looking for cocktails,that were kind of well-known that people,might search for to help build more,subscribers and I found this when I was,like that sounds different and maybe not,necessarily something I'd ever want to,drink but it seems so basic that if it's,an after-dinner drink and people say you,should do it I figure my search I what's,the worst that can happen,get ice cuz I had a go upstairs and bang,it otherwise yeah nice work yes I know,it doesn't go in the dark but it does,definitely have a light reactivity to it,you guys might not be able to see how,awesome it is but if you got awesome,pranks calm you can see a picture still,is hard to do because it's it's hard to,translate that brightness like I didn't,see that coming dougies in this mood,where he just annoys people however if,you were to annoy him he'd be all pissed,off I know everybody come on I can with,the dark colors drinks that don't really,they actually almost like every other,it's like the Voodoo I'm gonna have any,branding the Buddha kangaroo smells like,brandy we're just weird just got mint in,here got the morning black like come to,minute,tastes like crumbs above okay um I,thought was gonna be a lot worse than or,disjointed into it's like oh I think,Brandi can peppermint having I'm brandy,coated peppermint pattie definitely,definitely,after dinner style cocktail simple to,make like an amusement sans chocolate,right yeah if you had some chocolate I,think that would be overkill baby here,mint there is a brand new sector little,oak,oak aroma and then it finishes,definitely very bright oven peppermint,alcohol y7 I would go with three most Oh,Danny alcohol in here I get tons of mint,no and oak what I don't get a little go,7:3 the average of seven eight nine ten,divided by 2/5 so average alcohol,content I would have called potency,rating or whatever five you gotta like,peppermint you could tone it down if you,wanted to I don't really suggest toning,it down I think you should make it this,way if you don't like it this way then,you just don't drink this drink mmm,because any amount of creme de menthe,put in this drink is going to give you,minty brandy if you don't like the,flavor of minty brandy I don't think,there's an excessive or decisive amount,that you can use that's gonna change,your mind it's this thing if you have,another stain your recipe here's a,question write a bowl up because there's,some different creative ones out there,but as far as I know this is the stinger,to some level degree if you say that,recipes wrong search for that recipes,wrong on our channel and you will find,my response to your response I moved it,all the way over here that's it,after-dinner drink every day your second,question today what's your favorites you,have any other questions before I dump,this no what is your favorite,after-dinner thing dessert coffee very,citizen Scottie fernet branca,I like coffee maybe a little bit of a,creme creme liqueur in my coffee,Irish it up a little bit but I don't,really drink that much so really coffee,straight is the way to roll maybe,flavored coffees chocolate Godiva corn,anything that has like chocolate cream,in like liqueur in your coffee it's a,good time some people they just drink,hard stuff a little bottle of brandy,after a little whiskey a little,limoncello frozen up you know something,like that so me my drunk friend here,we're going to go oh sleepy drunk I,don't bother to try and differentiate,cuz everybody goes like the the award,had episode where you woke up after like,three hours of sleep you're like yeah,everybody's like wow he's like stoned,out on meth what's his deal and the,first part of it you were actually drunk,and the second part you were drinking it,which is actually worse than when you,were drunk which was really weird and it,was hard to explain people so I just,said you're drunk teaching you how to,drink

well c'mon guys welcome back to just,shake or steer welcome back to the,channel my name is George and today I,have a very simple but delicious creamy,refreshing cocktail for you to make at,home,only three ingredients and absolutely,delightful so if you're ready let's,crack on with this episode ok guys I,hope you're ready for today cocktail,it's gonna be very quick and nice and,easy for you to shake and you,can find the ingredients very easy to,supply them through Amazon or any online,supplier I will leave link in the,descriptions where you can buy the,ingredients and from now on I'm gonna,try to put on every video not just the,recipe but also suggestions from where,to buy just to disclaimer all the links,is gonna be affiliate which is mean I,will get a small Commission of each the,grasshopper was created while back ago,in the New Orleans and it's a very kind,of a mixture story,who exactly created well basically the,original story says is created back in a,New Orleans back in the 1990's I think,so yeah it's one cocktail and it's a no,surprise many people love this culture,because very easy preparation first of,all second it's very nice and refreshing,because it's using curved peppermint or,green mint liqueur and using white creme,de cacao and single cream or some time,half-and-half which is a 50/50 to be a,little bit more running cream not just,very thick as usual if you buy for,example a double cream so this is the,three ingredients absolutely equal,measure all of them nice shaken in the,shaker itself in the martini glass or in,a cup also we,and you can serve it in any like this,for example,it doesn't matter,garnish for the cocktail it's usually,the fresh mint sprig or if you're fancy,you can gray some chocolate on the top,we're gonna go with a mint first of all,before you do the cocktail you have to,chew your glass now because the doctor,would serve without ice you want to keep,it cold and refreshing as long as,possible so we're gonna chill our glass,and then let's make it all you need it's,your shaker fortunately you have to show,you this because it's clean inside so it,can be still it won't help very easy to,mix all the ingredients and as I say,it's equal measures of the three,ingredients so it's 30 mil of peppermint,liqueur or green mint liqueur 30 mil of,white cow lick your and 30 knew of the,single cream so let's stop it first of,all 30 of the green mint I love this,cocktail for the summer or for any warm,day not just because it's easy to make,first of all that's very important it is,to make second all these ingredients,better cost anything to be honest a,bottle for example of what I'm using,balls mint or both white cacao its cost,around 10 to 11 pounds in UK I presume,it's pretty much the same in dollars so,there are 5500 new bottles so you,basically have for less than 25 pounds,or dollars you have all the ingredients,and as you can see it's 30 me which,popped up so in 500 mil you imagine you,can create many cocktails for next to,nothing,okay next ingredients we have the white,cacao now it's very important not to buy,all because of,it's a named grasshopper and of course,it's coming after all this lovely little,creatures grasshopper sometime they are,not very lovely but because they are,green doctor it's made with a mint and,it's coming this wonderful color so they,decide to call it grasshopper and,finally I use single cream I don't use,often because usually I do haven't,covered by by a double cream so I split,it 50/50 milk and double cream to make,it more easy to using the Cocteau's know,very thick and be delightful to drink so,single cream cream you bear in mind when,you shake the cocktail it will dilute so,we're going to use some water it will,help pull the half and half cream to use,a little bit of thickness or you know in,the single cream and this is it all,ingredients is in the shaker so let's,put ice and let's shake,you have to give it a good shape because,you need to make sure,now the glass it's already chilled one,suggestions for you if you want to,prepare like a few of these cocktails,and you wanna have couple of them in the,evening or during the afternoon if you,have space in your freezer then effect,on our glasses put them in the freezer,to froze so you don't need to do all,this cooling down you can just shake the,cocktail because you can make depends of,the size of your shaker you can make two,or three cocktails at the same time and,just pull the frozen glasses from the,freezer and serve and you'll be,absolutely fine okay but I don't have,space in my freezer so I cool them down,ice inside and they go excuse me now all,you need to do is just strain your,cocktail in the glass look at the,beautiful green color with a How to Make Crème de Menthe - an Easy Homemade Mint Liqueur with Vodka
today we're taking booze in the kitchen,and making creme de menthe,for this recipe you're going to need a,measuring cup a pot a wooden spoon a,mixing bowl a large strainer a fine mesh,strainer and a bottle with an airtight,lid or in this case a cork the,ingredients are water sugar vodka and of,course mint when you think of creme de,menthe you probably picture a bright,bottle of neon green liquid that looks,like green apple pucker,that's called green creme de menthe and,it's a staple of some heinous overly,sweet kitschy drink some shooters then,there's this which is known as white,creme de menthe or simply creme de,menthe in this case it has a yellow hue,because of the unbleached sugar it's,definitely a sweet liqueur however,served up in a chilled glass it's a,refreshing after-dinner drink and it's a,component to some classic cocktails,creme de menthe was created by a French,pharmacist in the 1800s with its,combination of mint sugar and spirit,it's in the same neighborhood as a,mojito or a caipirinha but it's,definitely not a spirit forward creme de,menthe is a light and easy drink that's,gentle on every palate there are several,recipes for homemade creme de menthe but,this one's my favorite because it,infuses the mint in the syrup and not,the vodka doing the infusion in the,vodka makes it easier to over steep the,mint which would impart of bitter flavor,if using in the syrup reduces the,possibility of over steeping this recipe,is adapted from the twelve bottle bar by,Leslie in David's almond zone the recipe,makes a bigger batch with this recipe,we're shooting for about three cups or,about 700 milliliters of creme de menthe,but scale it as you need it there's no,need for a top-shelf vodka on this one,amid the low range will do just fine,let's start by making simple syrup,measure a cup of sugar add that to the,pot,there's your cup of water and add that,to the pot turn it on medium heat and,stir continuously until the sugar has,been dissolved remove the mixture from,heat measure out a cup of loosely packed,mint add that to your mixing bowl pour,the warm simple syrup over the leaves,and give it a quick stir then let it sit,overnight at room temperature about,seven hours or so if you're worried,about ants,feel free to cover the bowl the next day,strain out the memory is this recipe,should yield about a cup and a half of,mint syrup next add the same amount of,vodka in this case a cup and a half,making three cups total then use the,fine mesh strainer when you pour it into,your bottle that'll collect any bits of,mint leaves your Pickers trainer mist,pop in the court and store it in the,fridge and that's all there is to it,homemade from the men something,click here for more videos be sure to,subscribe and check us out on Facebook,Twitter and Instagram

simple and limited ingredients and,it's going to be very minty,minty did you say minty you didn't tell,me that,why do you not come over now that's just,great,that's just great hi everybody so,welcome back to my channel when my drink,of the week,and the lovely kim is here as well i am,so we got a very minty,sweet drink going on here with limited,ingredients,i'm all about the mint that's right it's,going to be short sweet and to the point,and good thing you're here because i,know you're going to like it,thanks katie and ben,that's right so yeah with the,inspiration of them saying they really,loved it at a local restaurant,we thought that maybe we should give it,a try because we've never drank,something like this and you are a minty,girl,i am you love andy's candy so but,whatever,that's what i figure whenever somebody's,making a minty drink i think of andy's,okay gotcha so let me introduce the,ingredients too all right,so we got some cream to cocoa oh,chocolate,and yeah one of your favorites and we,got some,cream the mint right here along with,some cream,to go in there we're gonna mix it,there's probably different variations,but,in my dr mark book to look up,this is what they told me to put in it,okay so,so you just mix it all together yeah,very simple ingredients so we're going,to shake it pour it in the martini,you're going to like it because it's in,a martini yeah,and you are going to like it whether you,like it or not,you're going to like it is that why you,wear this that's right it's going to,it's going gonna match so we don't know,what it's gonna look like what color,it's gonna be,i've seen pictures of it but i've never,made it before so,we're gonna do it here first oh i bet,you on a set of right on the mark,that's true proportions that i came up,with according to my concoctions in my,head,nope there's a lot of things going in my,head,that's a little scary there's a lot of,things going on upstairs,so it doesn't matter what you do you're,going to put a full ,of the cocoa and the,mint as you can see they're barely used,so i don't really drink this that much,i'll go ahead and i'll pour a of,that in wow look how great this is that,is really green,that's what's going to be sweet hey it's,just like all the grass and everything,that's grown out there from the rain,that we've been having,that is very true all the rain is making,green grass yeah whoo,so now we're going to put some chocolate,it's like the st patrick's day,i could smell this already hey they're,doing a st patrick's day parade in,pittsburgh,oh it's friday in september that's right,so all you folks,don't know where pittsburgh pennsylvania,is we're going to do saint patty's day,again,so there's six months we do something,happy,western little bit of cream to,it now you can use heavy cream half and,half,coffee cream if you want okay but we got,some,i think it's half and half cream all,right good uh we're gonna do a half a, of that,all right so let me yeah i'm gonna,assist you yeah,assist me and put it in here oh there's,not much in there,look at that that's good okay yep,that's a spooky drink now i've been,reading up on this since i've never,heard of it,and i wanted to make this this,originated in new orleans,oh really yeah would you like to shake,it up since it's green,oh boy be careful not to get it,i'm gonna take the fine if i get to,taste it you shake it,all right i'll shake it but like i said,it's been invented in new orleans i'm,sure they make it a lot better with all,their fancy stuff down there,but we're going to go ahead and we're,going to shake it all right,now from what i understand is you're,going to want to shake this,i don't know 15 to 20 seconds give it a,nice chill,and this is an after dinner comment below we will choose,one winner next week,let's go there are hundreds of types of,mint the most popular are spearmint it's,a strong versatile type of mint that can,be used in most of the cocktails,another popular type is peppermint it,pairs well with chocolate and citrus,flavors it has high mental content,imagine taste of with chewing gum or,toothpaste so if you overuse it your,cocktail might have a taste of a cough,syrup there are also,flavored mint such as pineapple apple,orange,chocolate you can try it in specific,recipes like orange whiskey smash,or chocolate mojito and actually real,mojito should be made with,yup you guessed it mojito mint cultivar,originated in cuba,it has large leaves much milder flavor,with hints of citrus grocery stores have,only a very limited choice to have a lot,more flavor in your cocktails i,recommend to grow your,own mint mint doesn't stay fresh for a,long time after being cut,so the one you buy from the store has a,lot less of the essential oils and there,nothing could be more satisfying than,making cocktails with your own homegrown,organic ingredients,let's start with the south side it's,preferred cocktail of the legendary al,capone,very similar to basil smash in the,shaker or,mason jar like i'm using here pour two,ounces of gin al capone would shoot on,the spot if bartender used concentrated,lime juice from the store so i will take,fresh lime and squeeze 1 ounce of juice,and pour it into the shaker to balance,it we need half ounce of simple syrup,before we shake it let's pick 8 to 10,mint leaves and also add them into the,shaker,fill up shaker with ice and shake it for,at least 15 to 20 seconds,using a fine strainer pour everything,into the chilled coop glass,of course if you don't have one laying,in your freezer right now just chill it,with ice,garnish with the main sprig or pin one,large and put the leaf on the edge of,the glass,just like al capone preferred now i'm,just kidding he probably would put me in,cement shoes and drop off at one of the,chicago bridges if i search him a south,side that way,well and if you add a little bit of soda,it will become a south side feeds which,you definitely should try,next cocktail came all the way from,kentucky and now we're going to make a,mint julep,let's prepare some crushed ice this,strong and refreshing cocktail,associated with kentucky derby,traditionally made with fresh mint,bourbon simple syrup,and crushed ice served in silver,beautiful cups,but no worries you can serve it in tall,old fashioned glass or,high ball glass with a straw wait wait,with the metal straw traditionally,spearmint is a mint of choice let's take,8 to 10 leaves and put them into the cup,preparation could be different just like,in mojito fresh mean can be gently,mottled,slapped or shaken to release essential,oils i kind of warned you it's pretty,strong drink so let's pour 2 ounces of,bourbon,not every recipe uses angustura but it's,common to put,in mint julep so i will add two dashes,for now don't fill it up all the way to,the top with crushed ice just actually,put one scoop,and stir it thoroughly now fill up all,the way to the top with crushed ice like,it's a cone with 10 ice cream scoops on,top,put julep strainer on top to prevent,making a mess with all that crushed ice,or drink it with a straw garnish with,the previous mint sprig,and this Very cool!,Az got that for me.,I can't get back to Wisconsin this holiday season, so I'm bringing Wisconsin here.,It's actually Christmas Eve if you're watching this as it comes out, so Merry Christmas to,all of those that celebrate Christmas.,If you don't, happy Friday.,The two drinks we're making here are the blended Grasshopper, and the Pink Squirrel -,which is also blended.,They're ice cream drinks.,These drinks come from Wisconsin supper clubs.,What is a Wisconsin supper club?,It's a crazy phenomenon that I adore.,Some people think of these drinks as guilty pleasures.,Some people say they aren't even serious cocktails.,To that I say, "Get da heck outta here!,Two, tree of these and you will be happy.",If you're new to the channel, hit that subscribe button for more sips, tips, and recipes.,And let's go make some ice cream drinks.,To the bar.,Wait - right here.,Both of these cocktails were introduced to me at a supper club.,And if you have never been to a supper club, it might be difficult to understand what it is.,If you have been to a supper club, you know exactly what I'm talking about.,Supper clubs aren't only in Wisconsin.,However, Wisconsin supper clubs are kind of their own culture in and among themselves.,They are stuck in time.,I think their hay-day was probably the 40s-50s.,There have been books written about supper clubs, there have been documentaries about supper clubs.,I just know them from going, and what I make of the places.,Their menus are a kind of comfort food.,They"re very simple.,Friday nights, you're going to get a fish fry.,There's going to be a prime rib special.,Broasted chicken.,Broasted?,Broasted - yeah.,It's like this subculture of restaurants that make you feel like you're being fancy,because there's a white table cloth, but it's actually rather casual - and very social.,All of these places have a bar that is attached to it, and I would say the bar is actually the heart of the supper club.,If you're in Wisconsin, you'll probably have a brandy old fashioned, maybe a brandy manhattan.,Then you go have your dinner, and then you come back and you sit at the bar,,and you maybe have a dessert cocktail.,Now, Wisconsin is America's Dairyland, so it's no surprise that they mix ice cream into their dessert cocktails.,Some supper clubs will have an extensive menu of ice cream drinks.,The two that I think of are the Grasshopper and the Pink Squirrel.,Now the Grasshopper was not born in Wisconsin.,The Grasshopper was born in New Orleans at a bar called Tujague's in 1919.,By a gentleman who was called Philibert Guichet.,And in that cocktail he had no ice cream.,The ice cream was added later - I presume in the state of Wisconsin.,However, the Pink Squirrel was born in Wisconsin, and that original cocktail did have ice cream in it.,That was created by Bryant Sharp in 1941 - who owned Bryant's Cocktail Lounge in Milwaukee.,That's a place worth checking out if you're in Milwaukee.,I've read that they no longer put in the crème de cacao, but I'm doing it the original way.,Now before we get started we are going to make a whipped cream to put on top.,And for that I'm doing my own twist on whipped cream.,You'll need two cups of heavy cream - or full fat coconut milk if you wanna go dairy-free.,To that, add one tablespoon of powdered sugar, and two ounces of green Chartreuse.,I've also done it with Angostura Bitters, which works really well, but you only need,half an ounce of bitters instead of two ounces because it's strong.,I'm using a whipped cream canister, but you can do this the traditional way as well.,Set this off to the side, and then we can go ahead and build the cocktails.,Now the booze.,For both of these cocktails we're going to need crème de cacao.,For the Grasshopper, we'll need crème de menthe,,and for the Pink Squirrel, we'll need crème de noyaux.,All of these are crème liqueurs.,Créme liqueurs does not mean cream.,It just means a spirit with high sugar content.,The crème de cacao - this comes in dark and light crème de cacao.,It's a chocolate liqueur.,This one in particular has notes of vanilla, it's kinda milk chocolaty, and it's real easy to work with.,As for the crème de menthe, this is a white crème de menthe,,and for a traditional Grasshopper you'd actually want the green crème de menthe.,Here in Chicago, I really struggled to find a green crème de menthe, but I thought,that's okay, I've got a white one at home that I like very much.,And I'm gonna add food coloring to make it green.,You don't have to do that, that's optional.,But it looks kinda fun - it's a Grasshopper.,As for this one - the crème de noyaux.,Créme de noyaux is a crème liqueur that kind of tastes like almonds, but there are no almonds.,It's not an almond flavored liqueur.,It's actually made from the kernels of an apricot pit.,It's also made from peach kernels, the pits of cherries.,I was under the impression that all of this turns to cyanid when you eat it, but uhh -,Let's make these.,As far as the booze portio

the,background,uh tasting and then i'm gonna make a,cocktail,using this uh spirit,i'm gonna make a cocktail that i think,it represents,the best of this particular bottle uh,the video number one i'm gonna do,jafar criminal mint i'm gonna do a mint,liqueur on my very first,uh review video why why did i pick this,and there's,like no reason i was earlier i was kind,of experimenting a cocktail,using this and uh,i thought about doing this video so i,just would,use this one i said because uh this is a,very,extremely good brand so,all right um first of all let's talk uh,mint liqueurs in general i'm sure,you have seen mint liqueurs at a bar,like mint flavored stuff,are there there are many out there,rumblemen,the kuiper,jafar criminal mint pastillo this is,in my personal opinion is the best mint,liqueur,around so,compared to most mint liqueurs you have,you might have had this is,way beyond for quality,like the flavor and then like basically,the finesse,uh it beats it all there's another brand,i'll probably explain in the middle,uh those that one and this one is pretty,up there,my personal favorite is the jafar,all right so let me give you a little,bit of the,story about this brand so jiffard,is of course a jiffa a brand based out,of france,uh the town called anjer france in the,loa valley lower,valley or lower like there's a river,it's in center france uh very famous for,wine,uh if you are a wine person there's a,region called uh anjer sammul,that's famous for the gummy and i think,they make uh some,uh sauvignon blanc and other stuff,it's it's a really good reason for,fruits i heard a very beautiful place,you know to go i wish i could go they,make all kinds of different,keywords and,more than probably 30 i have several,of my personal favorites this line,this label is like the higher quality,one this one is like the,mid-tier and my personal favorite is,apricot and they also have uh,like ginger of course creme de cassis,all kinds of stuff pineapple,this is cacao yeah they have all kinds,of uh,rhubarb it's probably one of their newer,flavor i think it came out last year,anyways uh this is actually,what made jafar jafar the cream of the,mint pastille this is the first,product that made,made made the company basically so dates,back to 1885,in summer apparently it was a very hot,summer that year,speaking of which i live in dallas texas,y'all,dallas texas uh we're right now it's mid,august we're right in the middle of the,all the hundred hundred fahrenheit days,i think it's gonna be a lot this year's,more mild compared to the other years,but still,the heat is no joke when the heat is no,joke,you it makes you want to drink something,that's,refreshing right like something like,drinking,kind of stuff so mint is a is a great,thing to experience the huh that's why,like uh,originally the what's that called the,julip,was was a big thing,uh to be beat the heat because it's back,then,there's no there's not even ice back,then,okay so 1885 the,owner uh emily jafar,emily jafar,he owned a firm pharmacy,and he saw the heat so like he,started thinking oh maybe i should make,a mental cure and then,pass it around because like it's you,know it's a nice thing to do,give it to people maybe sell it and he,made i meant the keyword,or criminal event in france uh and,apparently it was a huge success every,everybody loved it,so emilia jafar went like oh like,i can i'm good at this i can make a good,mint like you are like my,i should be doing this instead of,pharmacy,i can make tons of money he did,so he started with a mint liqueur and,quickly found out,it's a big hit so he's got a distillery,and actually started producting,producing,liquor and it's still family-owned today,uh mint pastille the pastillo,usually it's called creme de menthe and,then there's,that's it but uh let's go pastillo i,always wonder why let's go,call pastillo and then i look up their,website,and uh it said uh actually there was a,really famous uh snack a candy,i assume it's mint flavor that's called,pastillo so,they use that so i was like yeah huh,okay it's like i thought it was,a little bit more that's okay it's good,okay,now let's let's taste it,all right glass,so other than the fact that it's meant,the keyword,the keyword just so you guys know,are basically you start it with the,alcohol,like a like a vodka and then you add,whatever,flavor you want to add it could be the,real,stuff or it could be juice or it could,be essential oil,or can it be i don't know anyways you,add,whatever flavorings and then typically,uh,you add sugar also you sweeten it and,typically,the alcohol level is not as high,typically there's it's,there's no like specific thing but,usually it's a,liqueur with added flavors that's in,added sugar,uh that's what a liqueur,or creme de xyz,usually are okay,so assuming that it is

what's up guys welcome back to the,educated barfield today we're going to,be tackling that guilty pleasure staple,the ice cream cocktail now i can't tell,you exactly when ice cream was put into,cocktails but,by the late 19th century it was,definitely done,very much and we can find evidence of,this in,william schmidt's 1892 uh book the,flowing bowl which has no less than,20 20 ice cream cocktails so we know,that bartenders,by at least 1892 were old hands at,putting ice cream in cocktails,now this is a style of cocktail that the,respectable,cocktail culture has sort of turned its,back on but i really glad to see a lot,of kind of the top bartenders sort of,throwing their hat in the ring of these,wonderful,styles of drinks i really like them you,know they can't claim to be super,complex but they are,absolutely satisfying so let's get into,making them shall we all right first,cocktail we're doing is the grasshopper,we're gonna do,an ounce and a half of green creme de,menthe,an ounce and a half of white creme de,coco and you want to make sure to use,white so it doesn't throw the color off,of this cocktail,we're going to do one teaspoon of,frenette branca to give it a little,depth and complexity just a pinch of,salt,then we're going to do one ounce of,heavy cream or sorry half and half,not heavy cream but half and half and,then we are going to,add our ice cream three,big scoops,of ice cream are called for in this in,this drink,i'm using vanilla,uh then we're just going to put it into,our uh into our drink mixer,like that there we go and then we're,just gonna blend it away,and this will take a little while and,then if there's some ice cream left in,here that's quite all right,it will eventually melt and help keep it,cold then we're just going,to pour it into our glass,like so and there you have the,grasshopper all right let's taste this,guy,oh that is like wonderful fantastic mint,ice cream,uh and the frenette bronco really adds,this nice layer of complexity that's,what i really love about this particular,recipe,this is uh fantastic and it tastes like,i like i gotta taste another taste and i,can't even come on,i'm gonna take another taste this is,like a really nice night cap cocktail or,something to kind of end your evening or,if you're not really wanting to drink,too much,and you want to just have something to,sort of cap off a meal this is a,fantastic cocktail to do it,so the grasshopper was created at uh,a very old actually i think the second,oldest bar in new orleans named tujoks,around 1918 by the,bar's owner philip quiche or goucher,it's g-u-i-c-h-e-t so i think it's a,cliche i think it's wishing,but the version that we're doing today,is the ice cream version that you can be,found,at a bar called pepe limoco in uh,portland oregon,and uh created by famous or like the,famed portland bartender jeffrey,morgenthaler,who also uh owns and runs clyde common,so there it is the grasshopper all right,next cocktail up,is the pink squirrel so first thing,we're gonna do,is uh one ounce of creme de noio,creme de oil is a french liqueur like an,old french liqueur,it's made out of apricot stones or what,they call kernels,uh bitter almonds and then herbs and,spices then we're going to do,another ounce of white creme de coco,three,big scoops of ice cream and i do kind of,massive scoops of ice cream,you guys use your use your discretion,and then we're gonna blend it up,all right i think that's about ready,then uh we're gonna,pour it into our glass,and this one we're going to give the,royal treatment to,and then we're just going to give it a,little creme de noio on top,it was good so i mean this cocktail,tastes like the sum of its parts it's,just a,fantastic kind of night cap cocktail you,know when,i mean it is as good as you want an ice,cream cocktail to be you know it tastes,like,stone fruit it tastes like that kind of,bitter almond flavor it's a little bit,sweet it has the,creme de cacao sort of bringing up the,back end and you've got that nice,you know kind of creamy vanilla kind of,rounding it all out,so this cocktail was invented by a bar,man and bar owner named bryant sharp,in 1950s in milwaukee wisconsin,at his own namesake bar bryant's,cocktail lounge,and it is a very very famous cocktail in,milwaukee in,wisconsin still and there are many many,bars who have done kind of,reconstructions on that and that's what,we've done today,so there it is the pink squirrel and so,for our last cocktail of the night we're,doing a mudslide,yes you heard that right a mudslide from,tgi fridays,first thing we're gonna do one ounce of,vodka,one ounce of kahlua and an ounce and a,half of carolyn's irish cream,then we are gonna do three big scoops,of vanilla ice cream,and put it in our mixer,all right we're just gonna take our,glass pour in our drink,i'm just going to give it a nice little,grate of chocolate,all right let's taste it yeah tastes,like a,it tastes like a a boozy rum,infused chocolate milkshake and that's,exactly what you want a mu
