Simple Egg and Sausage Casserole Recipe

hey everybody Cajun chef here all right,today we're gonna make egg casserole,this is gonna be a pretty easy recipe,pretty short hopefully video start off,with 1 pound of ground-up wreckfish,sausage which it comes in a little pack,you just break it up in the pot once,you're done brown in it which it takes,on almost over takes about 10 or 15,minutes drain it this is what you have,the browned breakfast sausage or I take,6 slices of bread cut them into squares,or break them apart however you want to,do it as long as they get broken up and,almost even pieces it's okay alright so,once you have the pieces broken up you,could just throw them into a I use a 13,by 9 baking pan and then you want to get,6 eggs crack them into something that's,gonna be large enough to whisk all this,stuff together I use a pancake bowl,whatever you want to do just crack 6,eggs into it and get 2 cups of milk all,right here we are now we got our six,eggs cracked we will pour 2 cups of milk,like so,all right now you want to grab a couple,of pinches of salt,maybe a little bit more,all right now that you got your mixture,completely done you want to add two cups,of shredded cheese I just use a shredded,cheddar Mao Jenner all right get that at,it and mix that up good then you want to,add the ground-up breakfast sausage like,I said you're gonna add everything into,this bowl take the bread dump it in,there as well,once you get all the bread added and,stirred some people say you should let,it sit for eight hours and that's a,that's a preference if you want to do,that he does make it better but some,mums like usually when I cook it I don't,plan on cooking it eight hours later if,I'm cooking it like thirty minutes later,so I don't let it soak usually but I,have done it and it does make it better,once you get all that mixed here we go,you're going to pour that back into the,pan which doesn't look very good right,now but it yeah well when it's done so,spread it out evenly again there you go,13 by 9 inch baking pan get it spread,out evenly now based on my prompter here,it says to bake at 350 degrees for 40 to,45 minutes my family could not wait for,me to get a picture of it before they,ate so that's what they took out of it,but again it is it's very good it's a,good quick easy breakfast idea or,afternoon meal like I said it was gonna,be a pretty short video you know give it,a try it's a really quick cheap and I,think it's free darn good recipe let me,know what you think and if you enjoyed,the video subscribe to my channel thanks

hi and welcome to at home with anita,rosner,easter was a very small coved,celebration for us,there were just four of us and so i have,a lot of ham left over,today i'm going to show you how to put,that leftover ham to good use,and if you also have leftover dinner,rolls or just some crusty bread laying,around,all the better so let's get started,my oven is preheating at 375,and i have coated a baking dish with,nonstick spray,so i'm going to put the recipe down in,the description,but here i have i think three to four,pieces,of slightly stale crusty bread we're,just gonna pour that in,and we'll set this aside into two cups,of milk,i'm going to add quarter teaspoon of,dried thyme,and 1 tablespoon of dijon mustard,and we'll just whisk these together,in the bowl we'll crack four eggs,and just beat our eggs,we'll add a little salt,just a pinch because the ham is salty,already,and a little pepper,and we'll just pour in the milk,i've got about a half a pound of cooked,ham,that i diced,and i have four ounces of shredded,cheddar cheese you can use,cheddar or gruyere they're both really,good we are adding about,half of this to the egg mixture,bring back the bread and just pour it on,top,you want to make sure that the bread is,submerged,under the milk and eggs,and then as a final touch we will,sprinkle the remainder of the cheese,on top,so we're just going to let this sit for,about 20 minutes make sure the bread,soaks up,a lot of that moisture and then we'll,pop it in the oven,this is fresh and hot,out of the oven,smells so good,so let's take a taste,it's actually very fluffy,take a look at that,it's almost like a quiche lorraine bread,pudding if you can imagine,really delicious and it's light it's not,a heavy dish at all you've got that nice,crispy cheesy layer on top,it's great just like this if you want to,take it to the next,level you could just before you serve it,drizzle a little hollandaise sauce on,top,that would be amazing if you like this,video please give me a thumbs up,remember to become a subscriber because,you don't want to miss out on all the,fun things we do here,at home with anita rosner i'll see you,next time

hi I'm Angie Ellison and welcome to the,Oklahoma girls kitchen I am so glad that,you could join me on this beautiful,Tuesday we've got some great food for,you and a great recipe for you you're,gonna absolutely love it it is a eggless,breakfast casserole but you're not gonna,miss the eggs let's get started okay so,we've got our sausage ready to go in and,we're going to brown this kind of get it,pretty much done get a little bit,outside of it we're going to put it in a,skillet over medium to high heat and,this is just your normal breakfast,sausage a pound of it,and you can use whatever brand you want,it doesn't matter if you wanted to use,hot you could I've just used mild,first of all let's start with a package,of frozen hash browns you can find these,in the grocery store any grocery store,these are wonderful if you've never had,them before you can get them in the dice,like these are or you can get him in the,shredded you want to make sure before,you start with these that they aren't,thawed completely so we're gonna start,with these that calls for 12 ounces this,is a 32 ounce which is 2 pounds we don't,want all of it so we're just going to,use half okay so let's go ahead and,visit accordions and if you want and,just kind of mash them up a little bit,separated with the pan that's fine too,you can just kind of break them at they,have thawed they're still just kind of a,little bit clumpy but they're fine okay,so we've got our frozen hash browns in,the bowl and next we're going to put in,our cream of celery soup and this is,just plain cream celery,you can just get at your grocery store,it's just a small can and that's gonna,go right in and then second of all we're,gonna put it in cream of mushroom soup,it's just a small can also and no water,no milk or anything with the soup just,the soup itself okay so I'm gonna take,the sausage that I have browned and we,have bring the grease off of it and I'm,going to pour it into the mixture okay,so I've got everything mixed in so far,so there's our suits our sausage and our,hash browns and to that we're going to,add one teaspoon of ground mustard and,this is what it looks like when you're,looking for it at the grocery store a,lot of people don't want ground mustard,it's where they have taken mustard seeds,and ground them up into a powder so,there's one teaspoon of that and then,we're also going to add to it one,teaspoon of onion powder and then we've,got one teaspoon of black pepper I,didn't add any salt to this just because,of the soup having so much salt and,sodium in it that I just didn't add,extra salt I don't think you're gonna,need it at all and then we're going to,mix this together and we are going to,move it around pretty good the hash,browns even though they're thawed they,still have a little bit of liquid on,them from being frozen so they're gonna,mix up pretty good,but to make this consistency just a,little wetter than what it is we're,gonna add 2/3 cup of milk so let me grab,that so we got milk and we're going to,add that 2 cups of cheese and I've just,cut it in pieces about like this it's,pretty thin so I'm gonna add this all in,if you wanted to add a little more,cheese you can add a little more cheese,the recipe calls for 2 cups so that's,what I'm putting this is gonna go into a,9 by 13 baking dish and it is going to,bake for 50 minutes,that's phyllo and it's gonna bake at 375,which I preheated my oven when I first,started getting everything out we've got,a 9 by 13 baking dish and if you want to,spray your baking dish that is fine but,I really don't think that it's necessary,I haven't had one,yet so I think you'll be just fine,without spraying it but if it makes you,feel better and whatever pain that,you're using you can certainly do it and,it's not going to affect the taste or,anything like that he's got it all,spread out in our hand and we are,actually having this for dinner this is,a great dish for a brunch or a breakfast,or a Sunday dinner whatever you want it,for it's a good good dish it is one of,those that is a comfort food it is just,wonderful that's why those you want to,close up get cozy with on the couch with,your blanket and casserole and just eat,away okay so we're gonna go with like I,said is it 375 okay our casserole is,finished and we are going to taste this,I only wish you were here to taste this,with me that would be perfect because it,smells wonderful and pays off got me a,couple of yummy slices here I wish you,were here to taste it and with it I'm,serving some fresh blueberries which,just goes great with it so oh I'm gonna,tell you what I'm gonna do with mine I,like to put something on top if you,don't want it it's great without it but,I like some little extras so I have got,some Akane sauce not I'm going to show you how to make this,pin I found for a breakfast casserole,using croissant rolls bacon you can use,ham but wheeze bacon and egg casserole,yummy guys okay you're going to spray a,9 by 13 pan it's very good because you,don't want the croissants to stick to,the bottom and then you're going to take,your I think it's like an 8 ounce or 10,ounce like those small containers of,crescent rolls and start laying them in,your pan and you're going to want to Pat,them down really good get those creases,to come together so you don't want any,of the mixture to fall down so that's,what you're going to do there from here,you're going to add some chopped bacon i,fried up about a pound of bacon but I,didn't put a whole pound in there we,just love to eat it so I added that on,top of the croissants and the recipe,does call for chopped ham but I didn't,have ham so I used bacon then you're,going to add 2 cups of shredded frozen,hash browns and add that on top of your,bacon here I'm adding yellow and red,peppers they were frozen in my freezer,so I just chopped them up and added him,to it which worked great,the recipe didn't call for chopped,onions but I love onions and I just,thought it needed some onion flavor so I,added which I'm glad I did in the end it,tasted so good so I added some chopped,onions to that as well then you're going,to take 6 eggs and add them to a bowl,next you're going to add a 1/2 cup of,milk and then for your seasonings you're,going to add one teaspoon of garlic,powder and one teaspoon of onion powder,and that's why I added the onions I'm,like I know that you're not going to get,a full flavor of the onion so that's why,I added the chopped onion so those are,your seasonings and then just salt and,pepper whisk that all together next,you're just going to take that egg,mixture and pour it all over the,casserole and I am prettying a little,bit just watching this I have to get,every spot evenly absolutely like that I,just didn't know how I was going to bake,up for you doubt so I try to evenly,spread it around come on gimme and next,you're going to add some cheese and the,recipe calls for 1 and 1/2 cups or 6,ounces of shredded cheddar Jack but I,had Monterey Jack I believe and some,cheddar and you're just going to spread,it on sprinkle with parsley you're going,to bake it in a 375-degree oven for 40,minutes until eggs are set cheese is,bubbly I just pulled it out of my oven,and it is still steaming away you can,hear it cook I don't know if I cooked it,too long or not I'd scold any Brown it,looks great smells delicious Derek's,excited to try it so I'm going to cut a,piece and dish it up and they'll see,what it looks like well here's how it,turned out Derek's going to try it,nice and crusty yeah probably could have,Ford maybe 40 minutes was too long for,Ivan I'm thinking maybe 35 it says the,stuff with the spinach mmm no Oh Callie,this is really good is it great mm-hmm,our keeper be said of we didn't have ham,so I used to beat you I prefer bacon I,would like to try the sausage Oh what's,really good then oh good mommy gonna,have some now look at that please,I'll bite so the crescent I was really,leery about the crescent rolls but it,turned out good with them so give this,pin a shot let me know we think by

any cool,welcome back to Bella's lunches if,you're new welcome I'm so glad you're,all here because I think I've talked,about this recipe only about a million,times so this is the egg bake recipe,where I take all of the scraps from,Bella's sandwiches like from our lunches,when I'm making them I keep the crusts,that I've cut off her sandwich and I,throw them into a ziploc bag and I'll,put them in my freezer in my fridge and,then pull them out to make egg bake so,without further ado let's go ahead and,start making this egg bake so you'll,also have the recipe to make for your,family I first start by browning one,pound of ground sausage I don't buy the,flavored kind I try to find,mild flavored sausage so that it's not,too spicy or it doesn't have too much of,a kick when it goes into our egg bake,especially in the morning we don't,always want something and that is hot or,like spice level hat now while your,sausage is browning you can start,getting your dish prepared so I'm using,a pampered shift round stone but you,could use a 9 by 13 pan that is what I,used to use growing up it's gonna work,just the same as this pan but I like to,cook my stuff in my toaster oven and so,I'm using this round stone a baker but,like I said use whatever pan that you,got you can make it work even if you're,using an 8 by 8 pan this recipe will fit,in there as well it'll just be thicker,slices so rip up your bread if you are,not using scraps like I am use about 3,slices I'm using scraps so I used about,5 slices next I'm dicing up an onion now,if you're not a fan of onions it's okay,you can leave it out you don't have to,add ingredients that you're not a fan of,make this to your taste buds always make,every recipe to how you like it so we,typically would be also adding peppers,but I don't have them right now and,we're not running to the grocery store,on a whim like I used to so we do not,have any peppers to add,to the recipe but you could also add,things like mushrooms or broccoli or,even it's shrugging some carrots this is,a great dish to hide vegetables in if,you are grading them in a lot of times,all your kid will see is the color and,not necessarily know that it's a healthy,thing just tell them it's sprinkles or,confetti next I cracked six eggs in a,bowl and whisk them together,I also typically at this point will add,1/2 of a cup of milk I forgot and I,don't remember until the very end,but at this point you should be adding,1/2 of a cup of milk to your egg mixture,when you're whipping them together now,for the seasonings I just add a little,bit of garlic powder about 1 teaspoon as,well as some salt again about a teaspoon,or to taste and pepper I would go,lighter on the pepper so I would say,maybe like 1/8 or 1/4 of a teaspoon of,the pepper unless you like more than,again like I have already said do it to,taste however you prefer it omit it if,it's too spicy for you or add more if,you really like it sometimes I had extra,pepper to my survey because I like a lot,of pepper and Bella really doesn't all,right so this is alteration that I made,to this recipe years ago I think I,started making it maybe in fourth grade,and I always added the cheese to the top,well I always peeled that cheese off,because I didn't like that cheese crust,that formed on it until I realized and I,swear it was probably like within the,last 10 years just put the cheese in the,middle and then you don't have to worry,about the crust forming on the top so,that's what I do I put my cheese in the,middle like you just saw and I will use,between 1/2 of a cup in a full cup,however much grated cheese that I have,that's what I use so today I used about,3/4 of a cup and then I add my ground,sausage to the top of that now for the,sausage also I was not having it this,morning I don't know y'all like remote,learning all this that's happening it's,just you gotta sometimes just take a,couple breaths,but I couldn't strain it I couldn't get,myself to get a strainer out and strain,the grease off of the sausage so I just,tilted my pan moved my meat up to the,top and scooped my meat right to my pan,onto my dish anybody else do this,anybody else just have moments for you,I'm not dealing with paper towels today,I'm not because paper towels are hard to,come by we're out and I think we have,like three rolls of toilet paper left,because I didn't go and panic and buy a,ton when everybody else was so now I'm,just waiting for the grocery stores to,get more toilet paper anyway we're not,even talking about that this is the egg,bake and then we're gonna add the egg,mixture that you have already added your,milk to once your mixture is poured on I,just will go through with my spoon and,kind of press all the ingredients down,just I'm thinking that it's helping the,bread soak up the egg mixture I don't,know the step could probably be skipped,but I did remember that I forgot the,milk,also we're on a milk so I had some heavy,whipping cream and I just poured hi i'm leanne from your homebasemom.com,and today's recipe for overnight,breakfast casserole is the perfect thing,to make with any leftover ham you might,have but if you don't have leftover ham,you can use bacon you can use sausage,even chicken,all right we're going to start we're,going to need three large eggs and we're,just going to add those to our bowl,and then we are going to,beat those until they are night nice and,light and foamy,all right now we're ready to add in the,rest of our ingredients gotta check my,cheat sheet here,and we are going to next add in our,potatoes now i'm using a cup of frozen,shredded potatoes you could also use,diced potatoes and you can put them in,frozen or thawed whatever you prefer,all right and then i'm going to use a,half of a cup of shredded cheese i'm,using swiss cheese i've used cheddar,before monterey jack,a mexican blend whatever you've got in,hand or whatever your favorite is,next we're going to add in our meat,today we're using ham because i had some,left over hand i've got a half of a cup,of diced ham and did you know if you,don't have leftover ham you can actually,in the meat department of the grocery,store buy diced ham so i do that quite,often keep it in my freezer it's perfect,to throw into eggs things things like,this but again you can use bacon you,could use sausage chicken you just want,your meats to be cooked that you put in,here,next we are going to add in some small,curd cottage cheese now,don't worry,if you don't like cottage cheese i don't,like cottage cheese i promise you you're,not gonna know that there is cottage,cheese in here what it's gonna do i need,a spoon here it's just gonna create a,nice light fluffy texture to our dish so,put it in next we're going to add in,some milk three tablespoons of milk i'm,using fat free milk because that's what,i had in my refrigerator we're going to,add in about a quarter teaspoon of salt,and just a shake or two of pepper,then the last thing we're going to add,in is one chopped green onion,mix all that together,i'm going to use a 9x5 baking dish,so something if you have something,similar to that size i will link to this,um pan down below in the description,we're going to lightly grease our pan,and then all we're going to do is pour,our mixture into this pan,and then,it is ready at this point to cover,and to put into the refrigerator for 2,to 24 hours and i'm just going to put,some plastic wrap,over the top of it and then you can go,to bed get up in the morning,pop it in the oven and breakfast will be,ready and right before you're ready to,put it into the oven we're going to put,a little crispy topping on top and so i,have two tablespoons of panko bread,crumbs in here you could use regular,bread crumbs you could use cracker,crumbs you could even use corn flake,crumbs just something that's going to,give it a little crunch and then i have,about a tablespoon of melted butter in,here,and we're going to just mix that up and,then we will sprinkle it over at the top,of our,breakfast casserole,now we're going to take off the plastic,wrap here,and then,after we do that we'll sprinkle this on,and then we're going to put it into a,325 degree oven,and we're going to bake it for about,45 to 50 minutes it will just depend on,your oven but um you'll know it's done,when you take a knife and stick it into,the middle and it comes out clean,all right breakfast is ready now i do,have a little secret for you though,you know how i told you it needed to,refrigerate for 2 to 24 hours well,sometimes i cheat and i bake it right,away,and it turns out just fine it might not,be quite,as high,but,it's still delicious so there you have,it small batch overnight breakfast,casserole the perfect amount for two to,four people,and thanks for joining me in the kitchen,and i'll see you in the next video
